The concept of mean residual life is one of the most important characteristics that has been widely used in dynamic reliability analysis. It is a useful tool for investigating ageing properties of technical systems. In this paper, we define and study three different mean residual life functions for k-out-of-n:G system with a single cold standby component. In particular, we obtain explicit expressions for the corresponding functions using distributions of order statistics. We also provide some stochastic ordering results associated with the lifetime of a system. We illustrate the results for various lifetime distributions. 相似文献

We construct a new iterative method for approximating the solutions of nonlinear operator equations, where the operator involved is not differentiable. The algorithm proposed does not need to evaluate derivatives and is more efficient than the secant method. This paper presents stylized models for conducting performance analysis of the manufacturing supply chain network (SCN) in
a stochastic setting for batch ordering. We use queueing models to capture the behavior of SCN. The analysis is clubbed with
an inventory optimization model, which can be used for designing inventory policies . In the first case, we model one manufacturer
with one warehouse, which supplies to various retailers. We determine the optimal inventory level at the warehouse that minimizes
total expected cost of carrying inventory, back order cost associated with serving orders in the backlog queue, and ordering
cost. In the second model we impose service level constraint in terms of fill rate (probability an order is filled from stock
at warehouse), assuming that customers do not balk from the system. We present several numerical examples to illustrate the
model and to illustrate its various features. In the third case, we extend the model to a three-echelon inventory model which

We present a new algorithm to decide finiteness of matrix groups defined over a field of positive characteristic. Together with previous work for groups in zero characteristic, this provides the first complete solution of the finiteness problem for finitely generated matrix groups over a field. We also give an algorithm to compute the order of a finite matrix group over a function field of positive characteristic by constructing an isomorphic copy of the group over a finite field. In this paper, we have considered the problem of constrained redundancy allocation of series system with interval valued reliability of components. For maximizing the overall system reliability under limited resource constraints, the problem is formulated as an unconstrained integer programming problem with interval coefficients by penalty function technique and solved by an advanced GA for integer variables with interval fitness function, tournament selection, uniform crossover, uniform mutation and elitism. As a special case, considering the lower and upper bounds of the interval valued reliabilities of the components to be the same, the corresponding problem has been solved. The model has been illustrated with some numerical examples and the results of the series redundancy allocation problem with fixed value of reliability of the components have been compared with the existing results available in the literature. Finally, sensitivity analyses have been shown graphically to study the stability of our developed GA with respect to the different GA parameters. 相似文献

It is well known that Newton’s method for a nonlinear system has quadratic convergence when the Jacobian is a nonsingular matrix in a neighborhood of the solution. Here we present a modification of this method for nonlinear systems whose Jacobian matrix is singular. We prove, under certain conditions, that this modified Newton’s method has quadratic convergence. Moreover, different numerical tests confirm the theoretical results and allow us to compare this variant with the classical Newton’s method. 相似文献
