Integral boundary value problems for first order nonlinear impulsive functional integro-differential differential equations

In this paper, we consider the existence of solutions for first order nonlinear impulsive functional integro-differential equations with integral boundary value conditions. We firstly build a new comparison theorem. Then by utilizing the monotone iterative technique and the method of lower and upper solutions, we obtain the existence of extremal solutions or quasi-solutions.

LIMITED MEMORY BFGS METHOD FOR NONLINEAR MONOTONE EQUATIONS

In this paper, we propose an algorithm for solving nonlinear monotone equations by combining the limited memory BFGS method （L-BFGS） with a projection method. We show that the method is globally convergent if the equation involves a Lipschitz continuous monotone function. We also present some preliminary numerical results.     

Generalizing the L-fuzzy unit interval

Given an arbitrary connected topological space, an L-fuzzy space is constructed. When the original space is the real line (unit interval) the constructed space is the L-fuzzy real line (L-fuzzy unit interval). For some spaces, including Rⁿ for all n, the original space is embedded as a subspace of the constructed space. Lastly, the construction yields a non-trivial fuzzy topology on certain classically important spaces of monotone mappings.     

A FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEME FOR SOLVING THE NONLINEAR POISSON-BOLTZMANN EQUATION MODELING CHARGED SPHERES

In this work, we propose an efficient numerical method for computing the electrostaticinteraction between two like-charged spherical particles which is governed by the nonlinearPoisson-Boltzmann equation. The nonlinear problem is solved by a monotone iterativemethod which leads to a sequence of linearized equations. A modified central finite differ-ence scheme is developed to solve the linearized equations on an exterior irregular domainusing a uniform Cartesian grid. With uniform grids, the method is simple, and as aconsequence, multigrid solvers can be employed to speed up the convergence. Numericalexperiments on cases with two isolated spheres and two spheres confined in a chargedcylindrical pore are carried out using the proposed method. Our numerical schemes arefound efficient and the numerical results are found in good agreement with the previouspublished results.
