Delay-dependent stability for 2D systems with time-varying delay subject to state saturation in the Roesser model

This paper addresses the problem of delay-dependent stability of 2D systems with time-varying delay subject to state saturation in the Roesser model. By introducing diagonally dominant matrices, new delay-dependent conditions are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) where the lower and upper delay bounds along horizontal and vertical directions, respectively, are known. numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the proposed results.     

Uniformly exponentially stable approximation for the transmission line with variable coefficients and its application

We analyze an ideal transmission line, which is defined by the telegraph equation with variable coefficients, from the perspectives of numerical analysis and control theory in this note. Because the spatially semi-discrete scheme of the original system is insufficient for discussing uniform exponential stability, we apply a similar transform to the continuous system and produce an intermediate system that may be easily analyzed. To begin, we discuss uniform exponential stability for the intermediate system using an so called average central-difference semi-discrete scheme and the direct Lyapunov function approach. The proof is the same as in the continuous case. The Trotter-Kato Theorem is used to demonstrate the stability and consistency of numerical approximation scheme. Finally, we propose a semi-discrete strategy for the original system through an inverse transform. All results on intermediate system are then translated into the original system. The numerical state reconstruction problem is addressed as an essential application of the main results. Furthermore, several numerical simulations are used to validate the effectiveness of the numerical approximating algorithms.     

On varieties of MV-algebras with internal states

In [4] and [5] the authors introduced the variety SMV of MV-algebras with an internal operator, state MV-algebras. In [2] and [3] the authors gave a stronger version of state MV-algebras, called state-morphism MV-algebras. In this paper we continue the studies presented in [2] and [3] just looking at several proper subvarieties of SMV, obtained by imposing suitable conditions on the behavior of the internal operator.     

Approximate solution for two stage open networks with Markov-modulated queues minimizing the state space explosion problem

Analytical solutions for two-dimensional Markov processes suffer from the state space explosion problem. Two stage tandem networks are effectively used for analytical modelling of various communication and computer systems which have tandem system behaviour. Performance evaluation of tandem systems with feedbacks can be handled with these models. However, because of the numerical difficulties caused by large state spaces, considering server failures and repairs at the second stage employing multiple servers has not been possible. The solution proposed in this paper is approximate with a high degree of accuracy. Using this approach, two stage open networks with multiple servers, break downs, and repairs at the second stage as well as feedback can be modelled as three-dimensional Markov processes and solved for performability measures. Results show that, unlike other approaches such as spectral expansion, the steady state solution is possible regardless of the number of servers employed.
