Quantum–classical correspondence and the role of the dipole function in molecular dissociation

We consider the quantum and classical dissociation dynamics of heteronuclear diatomic molecules induced by infrared laser pulses. The field–molecule interaction is given by the product of the time-dependent electric field and the molecule permanent dipole. We investigate the influence of the dipole function in molecular dissociation. We show that the dissociation can be suppressed at certain external field frequencies for a nonlinear and finite-range dipole function. The correspondence between quantum and classical results is established by relating classical Fourier amplitudes to discrete–continuum quantum matrix elements.     

The Spectral Density Function for the Laplacian on High Tensor Powers of a Line Bundle

For a symplectic manifold with quantizing line bundle, a choice of almost complex structure determines a Laplacian acting on tensor powers of the bundle. For high tensor powers Guillemin–Uribe showed that there is a well-defined cluster of low-lying eigenvalues, whose distribution is described by a spectral density function. We give an explicit computation of the spectral density function, by constructing certain quasimodes on the associated principle bundle.     

Poincaré series of semi-invariants of 2×2 matrices

The Poincaré series of the algebra of -invariants of m-tuples of 2×2 matrices is presented both as a rational function and as a series of Schur functions. We show that this algebra of invariants is generated by the determinants, the mixed discriminants and the discriminants of 2×2 matrices. Consequences on invariants of three-dimensional matrices of the shape 2×2×m are discussed. For arbitrary n2, we prove an explicit functional equation for the Poincaré series of the -invariants of m-tuples of n×n matrices.     

On the generalized Hermite-based lattice Boltzmann construction,lattice sets,weights, moments,distribution functions and high-order models

The influence of the use of the generalized Hermite polynomial on the Hermite-based lattice Bofiz- mann （LB） construction approach, lattice sets, the thermal weights, moments and the equilibrium distribution function （EDF） are addressed. A new moment system is proposed. The theoretical possibility to obtain a unique high-order Hermite-based singel relaxation time LB model capable to exactly inatch some first hydrodynamic inoments thermally i） on-Cartesian lattice, ii） with thermal weights in the EDF, iii） whilst the highest possible hydrodynamic moments that are exactly reatched are obtained with the shortest on-Cartesian lattiee sets with some fixed real-valued temperatures, is also analyzed.

Asymptotically minimax testing ofr>2 simple hypotheses

In this paper, we consider the problem of asymptotically minimax testing ofr≥2 simple hypotheses when a general stochastic process is observed. We establish general conditions for the exponential decrease of maximal probability errors of minimax tests as the number of observations increases. At the present time, similar results for testing several multinomial schemes were obtained by Salihov [8]. Similar results for testing two simple hypotheses were obtained in [5]. In the proofs of the main results, we use the theory of large deviations ([3], [2]). In Sec. 1, the main result is proved. In Secs. 2–4, we analyze the i.i.d. case, nonhomogeneous Poisson processes, and renewal processes as examples. Almost Combinatorial Selector Sets

Classes of subsets of positive integers based on the notion of selector functions similar to the Jockusch selector of a semirecursive set are studied.     

Some estimation theory on the sphere

Summary We consider distributions with densities of the formf(μ′x) andf(‖x _v ‖) where μ andx are unit vectors inR ^q and ‖x _v ‖ is the norm of the part ofx in somes dimensional subspaceV ofR ^q . For several loss functions, optimal Bayesian and Pitman estimators of μ andV are given. When uniform priors are used, these estimators are identical. Then the infinitesimal robustness characteristics of several special cases of these estimators are calculated.     

A successive quadratic programming algorithm with global and superlinear convergence properties

This paper presents a successive quadratic programming algorithm for solving general nonlinear programming problems. In order to avoid the Maratos effect, direction-finding subproblems are derived by modifying the second-order approximations to both objective and constraint functions of the problem. We prove that the algorithm possesses global and superlinear convergence properties.This work was supported in part by a Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Japan.
