Inverse Coefficient Problems for Elliptic Hemivariational Inequalities

This paper is devoted to a class of inverse coefficient problems for nonlinear elliptic hemivariational inequalities. The unknown coefficient of elliptic hemivariational inequalities depends on the gradient of the solution and belongs to a set of admissible coefficients. It is shown that the nonlinear elliptic hemivariational inequalities are uniquely solvable for the given class of coefficients. The result of existence of quasisolutions of the inverse problems is obtained.     

Deleting Vertices and Interlacing Laplacian Eigenvalues

The authors obtain an interlacing relation between the Laplacian spectra of a graph G and its subgraph G - U, which is obtained from G by deleting all the vertices in the vertex subset U together with their incident edges. Also, some applications of this interlacing property are explored and this interlacing property is extended to the edge weighted graphs.

Two-phase flow equations with outflow boundary conditions in the hydrophobic-hydrophilic case

We introduce an approximation procedure and provide existence results for two-phase flow equations in porous media. The medium can have hydrophobic and hydrophilic components such that the capillary pressure function is degenerate for extreme saturations. Our main interest is the outflow boundary condition which models an interface with open space. The approximate system introduces standard boundary conditions and can be used in numerical schemes. It allows the derivation of maximum principles. This is the basis for the derivation of the limiting system in the form of a variational inequality.     

ϕ-Informational Measures: Some Results and Interrelations

In this paper, we focus on extended informational measures based on a convex function ϕ: entropies, extended Fisher information, and generalized moments. Both the generalization of the Fisher information and the moments rely on the definition of an escort distribution linked to the (entropic) functional ϕ. We revisit the usual maximum entropy principle—more precisely its inverse problem, starting from the distribution and constraints, which leads to the introduction of state-dependent ϕ-entropies. Then, we examine interrelations between the extended informational measures and generalize relationships such the Cramér–Rao inequality and the de Bruijn identity in this broader context. In this particular framework, the maximum entropy distributions play a central role. Of course, all the results derived in the paper include the usual ones as special cases.     

General auxiliary problem and algorithm for a generalized multi-valued variational-like inequality problem in reflexive Banach spaces

In this article, some generalized multi-valued variational-like inequality problems and their related general auxiliary problems in real reflexive Banach spaces are introduced. An existence theorem for one of the general auxiliary problems is proved. Furthermore, by exploiting this theorem, an algorithm for the corresponding generalized multi-valued variational-like inequality problem is constructed. The theorems of this article generalize, improve and unify many known corresponding results.     

Hypercircle inequalities and sampling theory

In this article the well-known hypercircle inequality is extended to the Riesz bases setting. A natural application for this new inequality is given by the estimation of the truncation error in nonorthogonal sampling formulas. Examples including the estimation of the truncation error for wavelet sampling expansions or for nonorthogonal sampling formulas in Paley–Wiener spaces are exhibited.     

A hybrid steepest-descent method for variational inequalities in Hilbert spaces

A Mann-type hybrid steepest-descent method for solving the variational inequality ?F(u*), v ? u*? ≥ 0, v ∈ C is proposed, where F is a Lipschitzian and strong monotone operator in a real Hilbert space H and C is the intersection of the fixed point sets of finitely many non-expansive mappings in H. This method combines the well-known Mann's fixed point method with the hybrid steepest-descent method. Strong convergence theorems for this method are established, which extend and improve certain corresponding results in recent literature, for instance, Yamada (The hybrid steepest-descent method for variational inequality problems over the intersection of the fixed-point sets of nonexpansive mappings, in Inherently Parallel Algorithms in Feasibility and Optimization and Their Applications, D.
