Irreversible and reversible phase transitions of alkyl monolayers. Gas chromatographic evidence of polar solvent influence on the adsorbing properties of the layer

Summary Further to Gilpin's observations in liquid chromatography of the irreversible transformation of alkyl grafts, following the replacement of an organic mobile phase by an aqueous one, we describe some gas chromatographic experiments which lead to similar (log V_s, I/T) plots, as a consequence of the same solvent release process.We use paraffin films on siliceous supports or hydroxylated liquid substrates or C₂₂-alkyl bonded silica. These experiments demonstrate that this irreversible transition and the melting-like reversible transition are completely different phenomena. They confirm the existence of at least three kinds of monomeric alkyl films.     

Some comments on the use of nitrogen selective detectors

Summary Several detectors which have a selective response toward nitrogen containing compounds are discussed. Data on sensitivities, detection limits and reproducibility of response are given. The application of chemiluminescence to provide a nitrogen selective GC detector is proposed.     

Analysis of dinitrofluoranthenes by high resolution capillary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry

This paper reports the retention indices of eighteen of the possible twenty-five dinitrofluoranthene isomers.     

Preparation of polysiloxane stationary phases for capillary column chromatography: A New methoxyphenyl phase

Contemporary methods for the synthesis of alkyl- and arylsubstituted polysiloxane stationary phases are reviewed. A new, moderately polar phase containing the 3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-propyl group is reported.     

毛细管色谱直接进样法测定白酒中高碳脂肪酸乙酯的研究

介绍了采用ＦＦＡＰ键合毛细管柱直接进样测定白酒中５种高碳脂肪酸乙酯的方法，操作简捷，定量准确，检测限低达０４ｍｇ／Ｌ。用该法测定了各种香型近９０个白酒样品。改变色谱条件后，在一次直接进样分析中除能测定高碳脂肪酸乙酯外，而且还能对白酒中醇、酯、醛、酮以及有机酸等５２种香味组分进行定量测定，结果重现性良好。     

气相色谱质谱联用仪与微机的数据传输和处理

报道了一种用于气相色谱质谱联用仪和微机之间实现数据传输和处理的方法。方法可更有效地利用质谱仪采集的数据，解决了工作站处理数据的局限性。经数据格式转换，原始数据可以在微机上实现色谱峰再现，从而为色谱条件的优化和定量数据处理创造了条件。     

Liquid–solid disk extraction followed by supercritical fluid elution and gas chromatography of phenols from water

A method combining the techniques of liquid – solid disk extraction (LSDE) and supercritical fluid elution (SFE) has been developed for the phenols regulated by the Clean Water Act. LSDE uses a disk or membrane made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibrils impregnated with small particles, e.g. styrene divinylbenzene (SDB) resin, to extract phenols from water. After disk extraction the retained analytes are eluted from the disk using SFE. SFE is used as an alternative to liquid solvent elution with an organic solvent. Analytes are separated, identified, and quantified using gas chromatography – ion trap detector mass spectrometry (GC-ITDMS). The method is capable of sub parts per billion detection limits, and precision of 5–28% RSD. Evaluation of various disks or membranes, such as C₁₈-silica disks, SDB disks, and ion exchange membranes, has also been performed for the extraction of phenols from water. The results obtained from the in-situ aqueous acetylation of phenols and extraction of their acetates are quantitative. The utilization of LSDE and SFE techniques has proven to be a more effective approach than liquid – liquid extraction in minimizing air pollution and solvent waste.     

Free and Glycosidically Bound Volatiles of Mentha longifolia Growing in Croatia

The glycosides of volatile compounds and the essential oil were isolated from wild Mentha longifolia. After the enzymatic hydrolysis of glycosides, fourteen volatile aglycones were identified by GC/MS. The main aglycones were eugenol, 2-phenylethanol, benzyl alcohol, lavandulol, trans- and cis-carveol, 3-octanol, and 3-hexen-1-ol. The content of aglycones was 40.85 mg kg^-1 of dried plant material. The main components of the essential oil (yield 0.93 w/w) were carvone, piperitenone oxide, limonene, and -caryophyllene. Eugenol, carveol, 3-octanol, and -terpineol were identified in the aglycones and in the essential oil.
