Fuzzy dynamical systems

A fuzzy dynamical system on an underlying complete, locally compact metric state space X is defined axiomatically in terms of a fuzzy attainability set mapping on X. This definition includes as special cases crisp single and multivalued dynamical systems on X. It is shown that the support of such a fuzzy dynamical system on X is a crisp multivalued dynamical system on X, and that such a fuzzy dynamical system can be considered as a crisp dynamical system on a state space of nonempty compact fuzzy subsets of X. In addition fuzzy trajectories are defined, their existence established and various properties investigated.     

Orthogonal Pure States in Operator Theory

We summarize and deepen existing results on systems of orthogonal pure states in the context of Jordan–Banach (JB) algebras and C* algebras. Especially, we focus on noncommutative generalizations of some principles of topology of locally compact spaces such as exposing points by continuous functions, separating sets by continuous functions, and multiplicativity of pure states.     

On the Green Function for a Complement of a Finite Number of Real Intervals

We give a new proof (and a generalization) of recent remarkable result by V. Totik concerning the smoothness properties of the equilibrium measure for compact subsets of the real line and the Green function for complement of these subsets taken with respect to the complex plane.

On the Operator Semirings of a Γ-Semiring

In this paper we introduce the notion of operator semirings of a -semiring to study -semirings. It is shown that the lattices of all left (right) ideals (two-sided ideals) of a -semiring and its right (respectively left) operator semiring are isomorphic. Operator ideal norms on

Let be a real number such that and its conjugate exponent . We prove that for an operator defined on with values in a Banach space, the image of the unit ball determines whether belongs to any operator ideal and its operator ideal norm. We also show that this result fails to be true in the remaining cases of . Finally we prove that when the result holds in finite dimension, the map which associates to the image of the unit ball the operator ideal norm is continuous with respect to the Hausdorff metric.

     

A geometric characterisation of resonance in Hopf bifurcation from relative equilibria

We give a new characterisation of resonance in Hopf bifurcation from relative equilibria in systems with compact symmetry group. This characterisation provides a full geometric explanation of the resonance phenomenon. In addition, we develop techniques based on normal form theory to give a complete solution to the associated bifurcation problem.
