On the -compact groups corresponding to the -adic reflection groups

There exists an infinite family of -compact groups whose Weyl groups correspond to the finite -adic pseudoreflection groups of family 2a in the Clark-Ewing list. In this paper we study these -compact groups. In particular, we construct an analog of the classical Whitney sum map, a family of monomorphisms and a spherical fibration which produces an analog of the classical -homomorphism. Finally, we also describe a faithful complexification homomorphism from these -compact groups to the -completion of unitary compact Lie groups.

     

Coherent state map quantization in a Hermitian-like setting

For vector bundles having an involution on the base space, Hermitian-like structures are defined in terms of such an involution. We prove a universality theorem for suitable self-involutive reproducing kernels on Hermitian-like vector bundles. This result relies on pullback operations involving the tautological bundle on the Grassmann manifold of a Hilbert space and exhibits the aforementioned reproducing kernels as pullbacks of universal reproducing kernels that live on the Hermitian-like tautological bundle. To this end we use a certain type of classifying morphisms, which are geometric versions of the coherent state maps from quantum theory. As a consequence of that theorem, we obtain some differential geometric properties of these reproducing kernels in this setting.     

Ruby-spheres as pressure gauge for optically transparent high pressure cells

Abstract

Ruby is widely used as an in siru pressure gauge for optically transparent pressure cells up to the megabar range. Usually ruby chips cut from bulk crystals are used which are ill-characterized and inconvenient to handle and to identify visually. Here we present a systematic study on corundum samples doped with Cr³⁺ ions with concentration from 60 to 23500 ppm to determine the optimal conditions for the use as an accurate pressure marker. The influence of the excitation wavelength on the luminescence spectra was investigated. These studies led to the synthesis of small (1–50 micrometer) ruby spheres with 3000 ppm chromium concentration. After annealing and a heat treatment to avoid internal strains we find reproducible values of the position and the width of the fluorescence lines. These ruby spheres are not only well suited for a reliable and accurate pressure determination in experiments using diamond anvil cells, but can also be used as an in sihr micro-thermometer in high pressure-low temperature studies.     

Calibration of a Gardon Sensor in a High-Temperature High Heat Flux Stagnation Facility

A calibration methodology developed for custom-made heat flux sensors used for the investigation of hydrothermal spallation drilling is presented. An air jet stagnation convection calibration system allowing independent control of jet velocity and temperature, cooling water flow and temperature, stand off distance, and nozzle diameter was built. A thermopile device was used as reference heat flux sensor. Air jets with velocities up to 400 m/s, exit temperatures of 760°C, and heat fluxes up to 0.6 MW/m² can be reached. The standard deviation of a reference heat flux measurement is below 2%, and overall uncertainty achieved is less than 5.5%.

Theoretical analysis of flexible strain-gauge sensor with nanofibrillar mechanical interlocking

A flexible, and skin-attachable strain gauge sensor based on interconnected nanofibers was recently reported with discernible gauge factor for a flexible and highly sensitive pressure sensor. Here, we present a simple theory that can explain the observed electrical responses by employing the well-established friction law and electrical circuit analysis. The results are in good agreement with the experimental data obtained under physical loads.

Practical methodology for the solubility speciation analysis of ambient dust deposits for heavy metals: application to a 6-month measurement campaign

A robust and accurate method for the quantitative determination of the water-soluble and water-insoluble, Ni, Cd, Pb and Zn contents of deposited ambient dust is presented. The extraction of the soluble metal phase from deposited ambient dust has been validated using commercially available ambient dust certified reference material. Results from a 6 month measurement campaign, from July to December 2004, are presented. Quantitative analysis of the two fractions, of different aqueous solubility (referred to here as ‘solubility speciation analysis’), within deposited ambient dust is reported for the first time. Additionally, the two Bergerhoff dust deposit gauges used in parallel to acquire the dust deposit samples have shown good inter-sampler comparability. The measured total deposition fluxes compare well with those previously reported in urban and semi-rural locations around the UK.     

应变式电子测力系统设计

为改善传统机械指针式测力计读数不便、灵敏度低且稳定性差的不足,采用电阻应变片及等强度梁设计了一种电子应变式测力计,选择灵敏度高且具有温度自补偿功能的全桥电路作为测量电路,测量信号经滤波、放大处理后接入ADC0804进行A/D转换,最后通过单片机AT89C52将转化后的测力值显示在LCD1602液晶显示器上。所设计测力计测量范围为0～100 N,输出相关系数为99.8%,分度值可达0.1 N。该基于单片机的测力系统具有结构简单便于携带、操作方便、显示直观及精度高等优点,适用于现代工业生产中微小力的检测。
