Hedging Game Contingent Claims with Constrained Portfolios

Game option is an American-type option with added feature that the writer can exercise the option at any time before maturity. In this paper, we consider the problem of hedging Game Contingent Claims (GCC) in two cases. For the case that portfolio is unconstrained, we provide a single arbitrage-free price $P_0$. Whereas for the constrained case, the price is replaced by an interval $[h_{low},h_{up}]$ of arbitrage-free prices. And for the portfolio with some closed constraints, we give the expressions of the upper-hedging price and lower-hedging price. Finally, for a special type of game option, we provide explicit expressions of the price and optimal portfolio for the writer and holder.     

A finite volume approach for contingent claims valuation

This paper presents a finite volume approach for solving two-dimensionalcontingent claims valuation problems. The contingent claimsPDEs are in non-divergence form. The finite volume method ismore flexible than finite difference schemes which are oftendescribed in the finance literature and frequently used in practice.Moreover, the finite volume method naturally handles cases wherethe underlying partial differential equation becomes convectiondominated or degenerate. A compact method is developed whichuses a high-order flux limiter for the convection terms. Thispaper will demonstrate how a variety of two-dimensional valuationproblems can all be solved using the same approach. The generalityof the approach is in part due to the fact that changes causedby different model specifications are localized. Constraintson the solution are treated in a uniform manner using a penaltymethod. A variety of illustrative example computations are presented.

小产权房是否应该合法化,一直是社会大众关注和争论的焦点之一。尽管小产权房在多个城市快速发展起来,但现行法律不允许在农村集体所有的土地上开发小产权房,目前小产权房依然属于应该严肃查处的范畴。然而,从民法的基本原理来看,我国现行法律不允许农村集体所有的土地上进行房地产开发,是不符合民法的基本原理的。因此,研究小产权房的法理对我国的经济发展有重大的理论与现实意义。     

“否定之否定”在事物发展全过程中的核心地位

列宁认为对立统一规律是辩证法的实质和核心,恩格斯认为"否定之否定"是事物发展全过程的核心。前者是就对立统一规律在整个辩证法理论体系中的地位而言的,后者是就事物发展全过程中的第二次否定、第三个阶段(即"否定之否定)"在否定之否定规律中的地位而言的。列宁的思想与恩格斯的思想是从不同角度、不同层次对辩证法理论体系中不同组成部分的地位和作用所做的判断,二者的作用是互相补充、而不是互相排斥的。不能用肯定和否定的不断交替代替否定之否定规律,因为肯定和否定的不断交替不能说明事物自己发展自己、自己完善自己的过程;对立统一规律和质量互变规律不能说明事物发展的周期性和全过程,不能说明发展是"在高级阶段重复低级阶段的某些特征、特性"、并且"仿佛是向旧东西的复归",只有否定之否定规律才能说明事物发展的这种特点;要从否定之否定规律的普遍性和特殊性的统一,说明掌握事物发展全过程的周期性应该坚持的正确方法。     

Numerical and experimental investigations on the band-gap characteristics of metamaterial multi-span beams

A novel metamaterial multi-span beam with periodic simple supports and local resonators is designed and investigated. The frequency responses of the proposed metamaterial multi-span beam are computed by the spectral element method (SEM). The accuracy and feasibility of the SEM are verified by the finite element method (FEM) and the vibration experiments. The results show that the metamaterial multi-span beam could generate both the local resonance band-gaps in the low-frequency ranges and the Bragg band-gaps in the medium and high frequency regions. By adjusting the natural frequencies of the local resonators, the thickness of the base beam and the length of the unit-cell, the local resonance and the Bragg band-gaps can be controlled, respectively. The coupling effects of these two kinds of band-gaps are investigated by the parametrical design, which broadens the band-gaps and consequently improves the vibration reduction performance.
