Subspaces of Normed Riesz Spaces

It will be shown that a normed partially ordered vector space is linearly, norm, and order isomorphic to a subspace of a normed Riesz space if and only if its positive cone is closed and its norm p satisfies p(x)p(y) for all x and y with -yxy. A similar characterization of the subspaces of M-normed Riesz spaces is given. With aid of the first characterization, Krein's lemma on directedness of norm dual spaces can be directly derived from the result for normed Riesz spaces. Further properties of the norms ensuing from the characterization theorem are investigated. Also a generalization of the notion of Riesz norm is studied as an analogue of the r-norm from the theory of spaces of operators. Both classes of norms are used to extend results on spaces of operators between normed Riesz spaces to a setting with partially ordered vector spaces. Finally, a partial characterization of the subspaces of Riesz spaces with Riesz seminorms is given.     

Stability of <Emphasis Type="Italic">C</Emphasis>-regularized Semigroups

Let T = (T(t))t≥0 be a bounded C-regularized semigroup generated by A on a Banach space X and R(C) be dense in X. We show that if there is a dense subspace Y of X such that for every x ∈ Y, σu(A, Cx), the set of all points λ ∈ iR to which (λ - A)^-1 Cx can not be extended holomorphically, is at most countable and σr(A) N iR = Ф, then T is stable. A stability result for the case of R(C) being non-dense is also given. Our results generalize the work on the stability of strongly continuous senfigroups.

In this paper it is proved that a space may be realized as the set of the maximal elements in a continuous poset if and only if it is Tychonoff.     

Non-expansive Mappings and Iterative Methods in Uniformly Convex Banach Spaces

In this article, we will investigate the properties of iterative sequence for non-expansive mappings and present several strong and weak convergence results of successive approximations to fixed points of non-expansive mappings in uniformly convex Banach spaces. The results presented in this article generalize and improve various ones concerned with constructive techniques for the fixed points of non-expansive mappings.

Boosts in an Arbitrary Direction and Maximal Causal Velocities in a Deformed Minkowski Space

We discuss boosts in a deformed Minkowski space, i.e., a four-dimensional spacetime with metric coefficients depending on nonmetric coordinates (in particular on the energy). The general form of a boost in an arbitrary direction is derived in the case of space anisotropy. Two maximal trivector velocities are mathematically possible, an isotropic and an anisotropic one. However, only the anisotropic velocity has physical meaning, being invariant indeed under deformed boosts.     

Uniform Continuity of a Family of Weakly Regular Set Functions on Topological Spaces

Conditions for the uniform continuity of a family of weakly regular set functions defined on an algebra of subsets of a -topological space (T,) and taking values in an arbitrary topological space are found.     

Iterated monoidal categories

We develop a notion of an n-fold monoidal category and show that it corresponds in a precise way to the notion of an n-fold loop space. Specifically, the group completion of the nerve of such a category is an n-fold loop space, and free n-fold monoidal categories give rise to a finite simplicial operad of the same homotopy type as the classical little cubes operad used to parametrize the higher H-space structure of an n-fold loop space. We also show directly that this operad has the same homotopy type as the n-th Smith filtration of the Barratt-Eccles operad and the n-th filtration of Berger's complete graph operad. Moreover, this operad contains an equivalent preoperad which gives rise to Milgram's small model for when n=2 and is very closely related to Milgram's model of for n>2.     

Smoothing Properties and Approximation of Time Derivatives for Parabolic Equations: Variable Time Steps

We study smoothing properties and approximation of time derivatives for time discretization schemes with variable time steps for a homogeneous parabolic problem formulated as an abstract initial value problem in a Banach space. The time stepping methods are based on using rational approximations to the exponential function which are A()-stable for suitable (0,/2] with unit bounded maximum norm. First- and second-order approximations of time derivatives based on using difference quotients are considered. Smoothing properties are derived and error estimates are established under the so-called increasing quasi-quasiuniform assumption on the time steps.

基于有限元理论 ,结合优化准则法 ,提出了立体停车库钢结构系统失效树理论分析方法 ,开发了计算软件FTA ,算例结果表明 :根据结构规模和具体特征选择合理的控制参数 ,不仅可以提高计算效率 ,而且可以保证计算的准确性 ;失效树中第一个失效元件是导致其余元件失效的根源 ,加强第一个失效元件 ,是保证结构系统不失效的最合理、最经济的方法 ;本文提出的分析计算方法及其软件FTA是有效的。
