This paper proposes a new traffic model to describe traffic flow
with slope under consideration of the gravity effect. Based on the model,
stability analysis is conducted and a numerical simulation is
performed to explore the characteristics of the traffic flow with
slope. The result shows that the perturbation of the system is
an inherent one, which is induced by the slope. In addition, the
hysteresis loop is represented through plotting the figure of
velocity against headway and highly depends on the slope angle. The
kinematic wave at high density is also obtained through reproducing
the phenomenon of stop-and-go traffic, which is significant to
explore the phase transition of traffic flow and the evolution of

The optimal current difference lattice hydrodynamic model is extended to investigate the traffic flow dynamics on a unidirectional single lane gradient highway. The effect of slope on uphill/downhill highway is examined through linear stability analysis and shown that the slope significantly affects the stability region on the phase diagram.Using nonlinear stability analysis, the Burgers, Korteweg-deVries(KdV) and modified Korteweg-deVries(mKdV) equations are derived in stable, metastable and unstable region, respectively. The effect of reaction coefficient is examined and concluded that it plays an important role in suppressing the traffic jams on a gradient highway. The theoretical findings have been verified through numerical simulation which confirm that the slope on a gradient highway significantly influence the traffic dynamics and traffic jam can be suppressed efficiently by considering the optimal current difference effect in the new lattice model. 相似文献

A combined idle channel assignment (ICA) and fixed channel assignment (FCA) scheme is proposed to improve the traffic performance in a hierarchical network. This dual-mode network integrates the Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD) modes of the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) and Terrestrial Radio Access (UTRA) in a given cell. This approach includes a high traffic load area and a blocked area as an example to evaluate the traffic performance. The ICA threshold and network timeout period effects on the traffic performance of this integrated dual-mode network are also investigated. The analytical results show that the handoff failure probabilities of the integrated dual-mode network can be reduced significantly with a minimal increase in the new call blocking probability when the combined ICA and FCA scheme replaces the FCA scheme. The integrated dual-mode network using the combined ICA and FCA scheme also increases the carried traffic. The traffic performance improvements for non-uniformly generated new calls are more significant than those for uniformly generated new calls when the combined ICA and FCA scheme is used. An increase in the high ICA threshold will result in an increase in the total carried traffic and an increase in the new call blocking and handoff failure probabilities for higher-tiered and low-tiered systems located in the high traffic load area. The unique characteristics of opportunistic networks (ONs), such as intermittent connectivity and limited network resources, makes it difficult to support quality of service (QoS) provisioning, particularly to guarantee delivery ratio and delivery delay. In this paper, we propose a QoS-oriented packet scheduling scheme (QPSS) to make decisions for bundle transmissions to satisfy the needs for the delivery ratio and delivery delay constraints of bundles. Different from prior works, a novel bundle classification method based on the reliability and latency requirements is utilized to decide the traffic class of bundles. A scheduling algorithm of traffic class and bundle redundancy is used to maintain a forwarding and dropping priority queue and allocate network resources in QPSS. Simulation results indicate that our scheme not only achieves a higher overall delivery ratio but also obtains an approximate 14% increase in terms of the amount of eligible bundles. 相似文献
