Formation of rivulets on the surface of non-isothermal water film falling vertically over the heaters with different sizes and boundary conditions was studied experimentally. The distances between rivulets were measured depending on Reynolds number, heat flux density and film path (a distance between the lower edge of a film-former nozzle and the measurement point of film flow characteristics). The breakdown of solitary waves at liquid film heating was revealed. Four zones of film path influence on rivulet formation were distinguished.  相似文献

We investigate transverse electromagnetic waves propagating in a plasma influenced by the gravitational field of the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole. Applying 3+1 spacetime split we derive the relativistic two-fluid equations to take account of gravitational effects due to the event horizon and describe the set of simultaneous linear equations for the perturbations. We use a local approximation to investigate the one-dimensional radial propagation of Alfvén and high frequency electromagnetic waves. We derive the dispersion relation for these waves and solve it for the wave number k numerically.  相似文献

Existence of the perfect transmission resonances of spin waves in a one-dimensional Thue–Morse magnonic quasicrystal is proposed. We find that occurrence of the perfect transmission just corresponds to the repeated bandedges in the bandedge map. Frequencies at the perfect transmissions for system with arbitrary generation order can be predicted by the bandedge map of the second and third order systems using two iterative schemes. These results show that density of the perfect transmission resonance increases exponentially for increasing the order of the system. However, the perfect transmissions are kept for higher order systems even if the peaks become denser.  相似文献

The evolution of nonlinear Langmuir waves in the interplanetary medium is investigated by appropriately accounting for the random density irregularities of the medium. A pair of modified Zakharov equations, which describe these waves, is solved numerically as an initial value problem for large scale (≫ 102 km) initial pertubations. For an ion acoustic-Langmuir solitary wave, the random irregularities damp the Langmuir wave by way of scattering and let the ion density perturbation radiate away in a few days. However an initial solitary or shock-like Langmuir wave excites the ion density perturbations within a fraction of a second, and then itself gets damped. These effects will strongly decelerate the collapse of large scale Langmuir waves. The possibility of detecting these processes, by means of interplanetary scintillation, is discussed. The authors felicitate Prof. D S Kothari on his eightieth birthday and dedicate this paper to him on this occasion.  相似文献

The integrability nature of a nonparaxial nonlinear Schrödinger (NNLS) equation, describing the propagation of ultra-broad nonparaxial beams in a planar optical waveguide, is studied by employing the Painlevé singularity structure analysis. Our study shows that the NNLS equation fails to satisfy the Painlevé test. Nevertheless, we construct one bright solitary wave solution for the NNLS equation by using the Hirota's direct method. Also, we numerically demonstrate the stable propagation of the obtained bright solitary waves even in the presence of an external perturbation in a form of white noise. We then numerically investigate the coherent interaction dynamics of two and three bright solitary waves. Our study reveals interesting energy switching among the colliding solitary waves due to the nonparaxiality.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, the flexoelectric effect on Love waves propagating in a structure with a nanoscale piezoelectric guiding layer deposited on an isotropic elastic substrate is analytically investigated. Transcendental complex dispersion equations are obtained and solved numerically which are corresponding to the electrically open and short conditions at the free surface. A detailed discussion about the dispersion relations of the fundamental mode is subsequently presented. The results indicate that flexoelectricity has a substantial effect on Love wave propagation. The presence of flexoelectricity leads to a complex phase velocity with a negative/positive imaginary part, which means Love waves attenuate/grow over time. In addition, the phase velocity dispersion relations depend greatly on the thickness and flexoelectric coefficients of the guiding layer. The current work is the first attempt to explore the flexoelectric effect on the propagation characteristics of surface acoustic waves (SAWs). And the results would be beneficial to achieve a better performance of SAW devices.  相似文献

We present a global solution to a Riemann problem for the pressure gradient system of equations.The Riemann problem has initially two shock waves and two contact discontinuities. The angle between the two shock waves is set initially to be close to 180 degrees. The solution has a shock wave that is usually regarded as a free boundary in the self-similar variable plane. Our main contribution in methodology is handling the tangential oblique derivative boundary values.  相似文献

Thickness mapping in aging structures suffering from corrosion is challenging especially when the structure is only partially accessible. In plates the high order shear horizontal guided wave modes all have a cutoff frequency thickness product below which they cannot propagate. This property is potentially attractive to estimate the minimum remnant thickness between two transducers. When using a source and a sensor array it is possible to control the number of modes being excited and the size of the region interrogated by the technique. Finite element simulations were used to show that by exciting multiple guided wave modes simultaneously and identifying which modes are received by a sensor array it is possible to estimate the minimum remaining thickness along the propagation path. Initial experimental results showed excellent agreement with the finite element simulations when the plate is uniform and with a thickness reduction between the source and the sensor arrays the minimum remnant thickness was underestimated by approximately 20%.  相似文献

We investigated exact traveling soliton solutions for the nonlinear electrical transmission line. By applying a concise and straightforward method, the variable-coefficient discrete(G /G)-expansion method, we solve the nonlinear differential–difference equations associated with the network. We obtain some exact traveling wave solutions which include hyperbolic function solution, trigonometric function solution, rational solutions with arbitrary function, bright as well as dark solutions.  相似文献
