We consider a marksmanship contest in which Player I has one silent bullet, whereas Player II has one noisy bullet, the first contestant to hit his target wins, and the contest is to be terminated at a random timeT with cdfH(t). The model is a silent-noisy version of our previous paper (Ref. 8), and an extension of silent-noisy duel to nonzero-sum games of timing under an uncertain environment. It is shown that the uncertainty on the termination of the contest has influence on the equilibrium strategies and the equilibrium values, but the silent player has no advantages over the noisy one, in such a nonzero-sum model.The author thanks Professor M. This paper gives two complete and elementary proofs that if the speed of light over closed paths has a universal value c, then it is possible to synchronize clocks in such a way that the one-way speed of light is c. The first proof is an elementary version of a recent proof. The second provides high precision experimental evidence that it is possible to synchronize clocks in such a way that the one-way speed of light has a universal value. We also discuss an old incomplete proof by Weyl which is important from an historical perspective.  相似文献

首先给出布拉格型声光双稳系统耦合驱动的混沌同步化方案,用最大条件Lyapunov指数分析方法得出耦合驱动下系统混沌输出同步化条件,发现通过适当比例的耦合驱动可以使两组混沌系统达到同步的混沌输出。分析此混沌同步化方案可以抵抗噪声的干扰,并且在两系统出现偏差时仍可以实现混沌同步,找到了实用的单变量延时微分系统非Pecora-Carroll规则的混沌同步化方案。最后做了实验验证。  相似文献

Path delay fault model is the most suitable model for detectingdistributed manufacturing defects which can cause delayfaults. However, the number of paths in a modern design can beextremely large and the path delay testability of many practicaldesigns is very low. In this paper we show how to resynthesize acombinational circuit in order to reduce the total number of paths inthe circuit. Our results show that it is possible to obtain circuitswith a significant reduction in the number of paths while notincreasing area and/or delay of the longest sensitizable path in thecircuit.Research on path delay testing shows that in many circuits a largeportion of paths does not have a test that can guarantee detection ofa delay fault. The path delay testability of a circuit would increaseif the number of such paths is reduced. We show that addition of asmall number of test points into the circuit can help reducing thenumber of such paths in the given design.  相似文献

This paper investigates the financial-economic decision process for investments in flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). Contrary to popular belief, we show that conventional capital budgeting techniques can be used to make such investment decisions. First, we identify theoverall impact of installing an FMS and present guidelines for a cash flow forecasting model. We then present ways in which to incorporate uncertainty in these cash flows within a risk-adjusted discount rate. These expected cash flows and the discount rate are used in calculating the net present value (NPV). Once the capital budgeting analysis is completed, a critical issue facing the firm is the optimal timing of the installation. We reinterpret the general results on optimal timing of investments within the special context of an FMS project. Finally, we illustrate the above technique via a stylized example.  相似文献

The delay-locked loop (DLL) is a synchronization device that is widely used for PN-code tracking in spread spectrum systems. The error detector characteristic (S-curve) of the DLL has a major impact on the performance. Using more than two correlators will extend the tracking range of the S-curve. The Generalized DLL (GenDLL) theory provides a concept to analyze a large class of DLL configurations including the classical DLL. The focus of the performance criteria is on tracking jitter and the mean time to lose lock (MTLL). It is shown that the MTLL can be considerably improved by using extended S-curves. However, the tracking jitter is increased by additional correlators. The tradeoff between the two criteria is explained. With the GenDLL theory loop configurations can be designed having both low tracking jitter and high loop robustness against loss of lock.  相似文献
