The dynamics of defect ensembles in one-dimensional cellular automata

We investigate the dynamics of ensembles of diffusive defects in one-dimensional deterministic cellular automata. The work builds on earlier results on individual random walks in cellular automata. Here we give a natural condition guaranteeing diffusive behavior also in the presence of other defects. Simple branching and birth mechanisms are introduced and prototype classes of cellular automata exhibiting weakly interacting walks capable of annihilation and coalescence are studied. Their equilibrium behavior is also characterized. The design principles of cellular automata with desired diffusive interaction properties become transparent from this analysis.

Asymptotic analysis of stochastic programs

In this paper we discuss a general approach to studying asymptotic properties of statistical estimators in stochastic programming. The approach is based on an extended delta method and appears to be particularly suitable for deriving asymptotics of the optimal value of stochastic programs. Asymptotic analysis of the optimal value will be presented in detail. Asymptotic properties of the corresponding optimal solutions are briefly discussed.     

Global behavior of homogeneous random neural systems

We define a simple form of homogeneous neural network model whose characteristics are expressed in terms of probabilistic assumptions. The networks considered operate in an asynchronous manner and receive the influence of the environment in the form of external stimulations. The operation of the network is described by means of a Markovian process whose steady-statesolution yields several global measures of the network's activity. Three different types of external stimulations are investigated, which represent possible input mechanisms. The analytical results obtained concern the macroscopic viewpoint and provide a quick insight into the structure of the network's behavior.     

Super-Tree Random Measures

We use supercritical branching processes with random walk steps of geometrically decreasing size to construct random measures. Special cases of our construction give close relatives of the super-(spherically symmetric stable) processes. However, other cases can produce measures with very smooth densities in any dimension.

A remark on the Lifshitz tail for Schrödinger operator with random magnetic field

In this note, we consider the Lifshitz singularity for Schrödinger operator with ergodic random magnetic field. A key estimate is an energy bound for magnetic Schrödinger operators as discussed in Nakamura [8]. Here we remove a technical assumption in [8], namely, the uniform boundedness of the magnetic field.

Correspondence Between Bell Bases and Oriented Links in Knot Theory

From the comparison of correlation tensor in the theory of quantum network, the Alexander relation matrix in the theory of knot crystals and the identical inversion relations under the action of Pauli matrices, we show that there is a one to one correspondence between four Bell bases and four oriented links of the linkage 41 in knot theory.
