Measurement of transverse vibrations/visualization of mode shapes in square plate by using digital speckle pattern interferometry and wavelet transform

New filtering scheme is investigated and implemented on digital speckle pattern interferometric fringes to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the speckle interferograms. To establish the potential of new filtering scheme the experiment was conducted on the vibrating cantilever beam. Experimental results revealed that the new filtering scheme is more powerful than other known filtering schemes (Kumar et al. Opt Laser Eng 2004;41:81–93. Kumar et al. Opt Eng 1996;35:9–14). The new scheme reduced the speckle noise and improved SNR in speckle interferograms. Further, the new investigated filtering scheme is implemented to study the mode shapes of square plates under two different boundary conditions. In the first condition all the edges of the square plate were fixed while in the second condition two adjacent edges were fixed and the remaining two edges were free. From the experimental results it is clear that the mode shapes are more distinctly visible with the implementation of the new filtering scheme as compared to other known schemes. Under both the boundary conditions the recorded resonance frequencies were compared with the calculated values of resonance frequencies based on classical theory. The results obtained form DSPI show good agreement with classical theory.

新颖的波长可选择调谐外腔激光器研究

采用增益芯片与取样光纤光栅双端耦合、双端可调的新颖外腔调谐方式,得到了36 nm的准连续调谐范围、约35 dB的边模抑制比、模式稳定性良好的实验结果。讨论了取样光纤光栅参量对可调谐激光器性能的影响,检验了取样光纤光栅波长漂移的应力响应。提出了一种新颖的、简单的调谐方案,详细地阐明了其调谐机理。     

Optimum and near optimum feature selection for multivariate data

In designing pattern classification systems for a small number of training samples, investigators have quoted that there exists an optimal number of features one can use. This number is a function of the number of training samples and the probability structure of the data. A recursive algorithm is given for selecting a near optimal feature set for classifying a data set consisting of two classes described by two equiprobable multivariate normal densities with a common covariance matrix. We compare this near optimal feature selection algorithm with the optimal exhaustive search algorithm and discuss examples for both algorithms.     

The study of diffraction radiation oscillation

Theoretical and experimental study of Diffraction Radiation Oscillator (DRO) is reported in this paper, it is the first work done in P. R. China. The sphere-cylindrical open cavity used in the DRO has been analysed, the method for testing the field profile and the cold measurement of the open cavity have been worked out. The experimental device was manufactured in our lab. and the theoretical analysis and experimental study of the device have been carried out. The main experimental results are: from 2000 V to 4000 V, the tube operates in the 60–87 GHz band, and the maximum output power is about 800 mW.     

External Cavity Lasers Composed of Higher Order Gratings and SLDs Integrated on PLC Platform

Very compact 4‐channel 200‐GHz‐spacing external cavity lasers (ECLs) were fabricated by hybrid integration of reflection gratings and superluminescent laser diodes on a planar lightwave circuit chip. The fifth‐order gratings as reflection gratings were formed using a conventional contact‐mask photo‐lithography process to achieve low‐cost fabrication. The lasing wavelength of the fabricated ECLs matched the ITU grid with an accuracy of ×0.1 nm, and optical powers were more than 0.4 mW at the injection current of 80 mA for all channels. The ECLs showed single mode operations with more than 30 dB side lobe suppression.     

Arrayed waveguide grating multiplexer with high thermal stability on silicon

In this paper, certain important parameters are optimized for a polymer/Si arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer by using grating theory. A 32-channel multiplexer is designed and fabricated using newly synthesized fluorinated poly (ether ether ketone) with a high thermal stability. The measured wavelength channel spacing is 0.796 nm, and center wavelength and 3-dB bandwidth are 1548 nm and 0.3 nm, respectively.     

偏焦偏置抛物面天线的辐射特性

以馈源横向偏焦量Δy作为变化因素分析了偏焦偏置抛物面天线的远场辐射特性.在采用坐标转换、相位计算的基础上运用口径场法推导了远区电场的近似表达式,并对不同偏焦量Δy下的天线方向图进行了计算和比较分析.结果表明,随着偏焦量Δy的增大,天线主波瓣偏离抛物面的焦轴线角度越大,天线增益越小;而且主波瓣宽度越宽,旁瓣的不对称性越明显,第一旁瓣的相对强度也越大.
