Synthesis and absolute configuration of cordiaquinone K, antifungal and larvicidal meroterpenoid isolated from the Panamanian plant, Cordia curassavica

Total synthesis of cordiaquinone K, a new antifungal and larvicidal meroterpenoid, is reported. The absolute configuration of cordiaquinone K was confirmed by the synthesis.     

Local chain‐configuration dependence of the mechanisms of the chemical reaction of poly(vinyl chloride). IX. Novel results on stereoselectivity of chlorination reaction

A poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) sample was chlorinated in solution in the presence of 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile and by the fluid‐bed method. The aim was to evaluate the scope of the stereoselectivity of the chlorination reaction. The quantitative microstructural analysis of the residual PVC with a degree of chlorination was followed by ¹³C NMR spectroscopy. From the evolution of the content of isotactic (mm), heterotactic (mr), and syndiotactic (rr) triads and of mmmm, mmmr, and rmmr isotactic pentads in the unchlorinated parts of the polymer, it was unambiguously inferred that the chlorination reaction proceeds by a stereoselective mechanism in that the mr heterotactic triads are the most reactive structures followed by the isotactic triad at mmmr and rmmr pentads. This conclusion was confirmed on the basis of the Fourier transform infrared results. The results provide valuable information regarding the effect of tacticity and related local conformations in the chemical reactions of PVC. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numerical analysis of reversible A B C reaction-diffusion systems

We develop an effective numerical method of studying large-time properties of reversible reaction-diffusion systems of type A + B ↔ C with initially separated reactants. Using it we find that there are three types of asymptotic reaction zones. In particular we show that the reaction rate can be locally negative and concentrations of species A and B can be nonmonotonic functions of the space coordinate x, locally significantly exceeding their initial values. The completely positive and doubly nonnegative completion problems

We prove the following. Let G be an undirected graph. Every partially specified symmetric matrix, the graph of whose specified entries is G and each of whose fully specified submatrices is completely positive (equal to BB^T for some entrywise nonnegative matrix B), may be completed to a completely positive matrix if and only if G is a block-clique graph (a chordal graph in which distinct maximal cliques overlap in at most one vertex). The same result holds for matrices that are doubly nonnegative (entrywise nonnegative and positive semidefinite).     

Continuous Selectors of Fixed Point Sets of Multifunctions with Decomposable Values

Existence theorems of continuous selectors whose values are fixed points of multivalued contractions are proved. As an application, the existence of continuous selectors to generalized solution sets of partial differential inclusions, depending on a parameter, is obtained.     

KrVI离子能级和振子强度的理论计算

利用组态相互作用理论和参数外推法,计算了KrVI离子4s~24p—4s4p~2、4s~24p—4s~24d和4s4p~2—4p~3跃迁的能级、谱线波长和振子强度。与已有实验结果比较表明:波长的理论计算值与观测值在0.7A内很好符合,振子强度的理论计算值较大的跃迁均是实验中观测到的跃迁。     

Frequent oscillation in a nonlinear partial difference equation

This paper is concerned with a class of nonlinear delay partial difference equations with variable coefficients, which may change sign. By making use of frequency measures, some new oscillatory criteria are established. This is the first time oscillation of these partial difference equations is discussed by employing frequency measures.      

Hilbert algebras as implicative partial semilattices

The infimum of elements a and b of a Hilbert algebra are said to be the compatible meet of a and b, if the elements a and b are compatible in a certain strict sense. The subject of the paper will be Hilbert algebras equipped with the compatible meet operation, which normally is partial. A partial lower semilattice is shown to be a reduct of such an expanded Hilbert algebra i ?both algebras have the same ?lters.An expanded Hilbert algebra is actually an implicative partial semilattice (i.e., a relative subalgebra of an implicative semilattice),and conversely.The implication in an implicative partial semilattice is characterised in terms of ?lters of the underlying partial semilattice.     

Infinite classes of anti‐mitre and 5‐sparse Steiner triple systems

In this paper, we present three constructions for anti‐mitre Steiner triple systems and a construction for 5‐sparse ones. The first construction for anti‐mitre STSs settles two of the four unsettled admissible residue classes modulo 18 and the second construction covers such a class modulo 36. The third construction generates many infinite classes of anti‐mitre STSs in the remaining possible orders. As a consequence of these three constructions we can construct anti‐mitre systems for at least 13/14 of the admissible orders. For 5‐sparse STS(υ), we give a construction for υ ≡ 1, 19 (mod 54) and υ ≠ 109. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Combin Designs 14: 237–250, 2006     

The multi-symplecticity of partitioned Runge-Kutta methods for Hamiltonian PDEs

In this article we consider partitioned Runge-Kutta (PRK) methods for Hamiltonian partial differential equations (PDEs) and present some sufficient conditions for multi-symplecticity of PRK methods of Hamiltonian PDEs.
