We introduce and describe the Multiple Gravity Assist problem, a global optimisation problem that is of great interest in
the design of spacecraft and their trajectories. We discuss its formalization and we show, in one particular problem instance,
the performance of selected state of the art heuristic global optimisation algorithms. A deterministic search space pruning
algorithm is then developed and its polynomial time and space complexity derived. The algorithm is shown to achieve search
space reductions of greater than six orders of magnitude, thus reducing significantly the complexity of the subsequent optimisation.

The difference in B-term diffusion between fully porous and porous-shell particles is investigated using the physically sound diffusion equations originating from the Effective Medium Theory (EMT). Experimental data of the B-term diffusion obtained via peak parking measurements on six different commercial particle types have been analyzed (3 porous and 3 non porous). All particles were investigated using the same experimental design and test analytes, over a very broad range of retention factor values. First, the B-term reducing effect of the solid core (inducing an additional obstruction compared to fully porous particles) has been quantified using the Hashin-Shtrikman expression, showing that the presence of a solid core can account for a reduction of about 11% when the core diameter makes up 63% of the total particle diameter (Halo and Poroshell-particles) and a reduction of 16% when the core diameter makes up 73% (Kinetex). Remaining differences can be attributed to differences in the microscopic structure of the meso-porous material (meso-pore diameter, internal porosity or relative void volume). The much lower B-term diffusion of Halo and Kinetex particles compared to the fully porous Acquity particles (some 20-40% difference, of which about 10-15% can be attributed to the presence of the solid core) can hence largely be attributed to the much smaller internal porosity and the smaller pore size of the meso-porous material making up the shell of these particles. 相似文献

共享单车失效停放区使得用户无法取车或还车,影响共享单车系统运营稳定性。本文基于排队论与马尔科夫链构建了共享单车系统稳定状态平均场方程组并求解稳态解,发现停放区交互作用使得失效停放区对相邻停放区产生需求溢出效应,增加系统失效停放区比率,影响系统运营稳定性。本文以降低系统失效停放区比率目标,引入(M,S)交互策略,调节失效停放区对相邻停放区的交互作用程度。进一步,以算例分析比较相同类型与不同类型停放区交互作用、(M,S)交互策略下共享单车系统的失效停放区比率。结果表明(M,S)交互策略能够有效降低失效停放区比率,提高系统运营稳定性。本研究为共享单车企业运营稳定性决策提供了有价值的参考。 相似文献

** Email: decentsp{at}for.mat.bham.ac.uk The coalescence of two viscous liquid drops in an inviscid gasor in a vacuum is studied using the interface formation model.In the very early stages of coalescence during the formationof the liquid-bridge connecting the two drops,this model predicts a moving contact line and a dynamic contactangle. This paper examines the dynamic evolution of this contactangle, and for small Reynolds number and small Capillary number,relevant particularly in micro-fluidics, a non-linear differentialequation is derived for the contact angle and solved computationally.It is found that the contact angle evolution can only be evaluatedby determining information about the flow away from the contactline. This is a manifestation of so-called hydrodynamic assist,studied experimentally in the context of curtain coating byBlake et al. (1999 Experimental evidence of non-local hydrodynamicinfluence on the dynamic contact angle. Phys. Fluids, 11, 19952007).For small Capillary number and small Reynolds number, the free-surfaceevolution is determined for the coalescence of two cylindersof equal radius.
