根据全息透镜的工作原理,利用光线追迹法对其聚焦特性进行了理论分析。使用标量衍射法分析了全息透镜的衍射效率,讨论了不同的光栅槽型对其衍射效率的影响。对分析过程中所涉及到的有关近似处理方法的使用和影响进行了说明,讨论了全息透镜用作取样光栅的优点。     

通过有光阑近轴ABCD光学系统激光束的近似解析传输公式

用傅立叶级数展开法研究光束通过有光阑限制的近轴ABCD光学系统的传输特性,导出了光阑透射率函数不同时的传输公式。硬边光阑的情况可作为其它光阑的特例得到,其它光阑也可视作硬边光阑来处理。数值计算表明了该方法快速的优点,并得到与用Collins公式直接积分一致结果。     

Modified null field method for P- and SV-wave scattering from a partially debonded fiber

The modified null field approach to elastic P- and SV-wave scattering (in plane strain) from a partially debonded fiber has been developed. The debonded region on the fiber surface is subjected to traction free boundary conditions, whereas the fiber is assumed to be in welded contact with the host medium elsewhere. Additional null field equations for an elliptical extension of the actual surface of the scatterer are introduced which require additional expansions for the field in the region between the extended mathematical boundary and the actual boundary of the scatterer. The numerical accuracy of the modified null field method has been tested for the case of a perfectly bonded fiber for P- and SV-wave incidence. Scattering cross-section plots are presented for different degrees of debonding.     

Effects of laser irradiation on optical properties of a-Se100−x Te x thin films

The effect of laser irradiation on the optical properties of thermally evaporated Se_100?x Te _x (x=8, 12, 16) chalcogenide thin films has been studied. The result shows that the irradiation causes a shift in the optical gap. The results have been analyzed on the basis of laser irradiation-induced defects in the film. The width of the tail of localized state in the band gap has been evaluated using the Urbach edge method. As the irradiation time increases, the values of the optical energy gap for all compositions decrease, while tail energy width increases. It is also observed that the optical energy gap decreases with increasing Te content in the alloy. These changes are a consequence of an increment in disorder produced by laser irradiation in the amorphous structure of thin film.     

Dynamics of the Up-Conversion Emission in Holmium Doped Zblan Fiber

The dynamics of up-conversion, green emission under excitation at different infra-red wavelength in Ho^3? doped ZBLAN fiber is reported. Under infrared, 890 nm quasi cw pumping the complicated temporal behavior of the up-conversion signal is strongly influenced by the intermediate ⁵I₅ state cross relaxation. The mechanisms of the observed up-conversion processes are proposed and the time evolution of the ⁵S₂ population is described by the rate equation model. Parameters of the model are determined and numerical simulations of the excited state dynamics are performed.     

Helium blistering of niobium: Large swelling measurements supporting the gas pressure model

Crystal potentials are usually obtained through a combination of theoretical calculation and the fitting of crystal properties. Because of thermal expansion of the crystal, the equilibrium condition is not satisfied at all temperatures unless the crystal potential is made temperature-dependent. A quasiharmonic potential that satisfies the equilibrium condition at all temperatures is derived from KC1 and used to calculate temperature-dependent defect energies (at constant volume). Other thermodynamic defect parameters are then derived by combining these results with the experimental Gibbs energies. The temperature-dependence of these parameters is displayed.
