On the Buchstaber Subring in MS p

A formula is given to calculate the last n number of symplectic characteristic classes of the tensor product of the vector Spin(3)- and Sp(n)-bundles through its first 2n number of characteristic classes and through characteristic classes of Sp(n)-bundle. An application of this formula is given in symplectic cobordisms and in rings of symplectic cobordisms of generalized quaternion groups.     

Modifications of the Wolfe Line Search Rules to Satisfy Second-Order Optimally Conditions in Unconstrained Optimization

The line search method incorporating the Wolfe conditions is modified to ensure that a descent algorithm terminates in a finite number of steps at an approximate stationary point where the second-order conditions of optimality are satisfied. A simple procedure based on conjugate directions is proposed to determine directions of negative curvature.

一种8毫米波变张角,半径突变多模圆锥馈源

我们研制了一种8毫米波变张角、半径突变的多模圆锥馈源。计算出其模比并推导出其辐射方向图公式;给出其在两个主平面——E平面与H平面上的辐射方向图和波束场分布特性的测试结果以及电压驻波比VSWR的测量结果;同时给出频带和旁瓣特性。分析与测试共同表明,在34.5GHz～37GHz频带里,该多模馈源的辐射图在大于24dB范围内获得幅度等化且不出现旁瓣,因此具有一定的应用价值。     

Brief Overview of Recent Developments on Negative Phase–Velocity Mediums (alias Left–Handed Materials)

This brief overview covers a rapidly occurring development in the area of microwave composite materials: isotropic dielectric–magnetic mediums wherein the phase velocity vector and the time–averaged Poynting vector are oppositely directed. Such materials have also been inappropriately designated as left–handed materials. Ramifications for aberration–free lenses, homogenization approaches, and complex mediums are also presented.     

管肋式辐射器排热特性的数值分析与优化设计

为得到按单面辐射方式布置的管肋式空间辐射器的排热特性，建立了相应的数学模型．采用数值模拟方法分析了管内流体温度、肋片几何尺寸和等效热沉温度对辐射器排热特性的影响，得到了不同参数值下辐射器单位面积排热量以及特定参数范围内的辐射器肋片最佳宽度和肋片效率．数值模拟结果对辐射器的工程结构设计以及空间站热管理方案的优化分析具有一定的参考价值．     

RPC读出条的阻抗匹配

文章对高阻板探测器读出条的阻抗匹配问题进行了研究;引入了一个用于计算带状线特性阻抗的经验公式.测量的特性阻抗与经验公式很好地符合,说明这个经验公式可以用于RPC读出条特性阻抗的计算,以改善RPC读出信号的质量,利于RPC探测器性能的测量.     

Surface characterization and barrier properties of plasma‐modified polyethersulfone/layered silicate nanocomposites

This study describes the preparation of polyethersulfone (PES)/layered silicate nanocomposites (PLSNs) by mixing PES polymer chain into organically‐modified layered silicate in 1‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP) solution. Both X‐ray diffraction data and transmission electron microscopy images of PLSNs indicate that the silicate layers were almost exfoliated and randomly distributed into the PES matrix. The mechanical and barrier properties of PLSNs show remarkable enhancement in the storage modulus and water/oxygen permeability when compared with that of neat PES matrix. Surfaces modification of PES and PLSN films with various treated times, system pressures, and radio frequency (RF) powers were performed using a mixture of oxygen (O₂) and nitrogen (N₂) plasmas. The topographical and physical properties of plasma‐modified PES and PLSN surfaces were investigated using scanning probe microscopy (SPM), contact‐angle measurements, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). These results indicate that the surface roughness of PLSNs with the same condition of plasma modification is lower than that of neat PES matrix and is probably due to the increase of stiffness with the presence of inorganic layered silicates in PES matrix. The surface properties of the PES and PLSNs are also changed from hydrophobic to hydrophilic. The XPS spectra suggest that the exposure of the PES and PLSNs to the plasmas led to the combination of etching reactions of polymer surface initiated by plasma and the following addition reactions of new oxygen‐ and nitrogen‐containing functional groups onto polymer surfaces to change their surface properties. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Theory and Application of Characteristic Finite Element Domain Decomposition Procedures for Coupled System of Dynamics of Fluids in Porous Media

For a coupled system of multiplayer dynamics of fluids in porous media,the characteristic finiteelement domain decomposition procedures applicable to parallel arithmetic are put forward.Techniques suchas calculus of variations,domain decomposition,characteristic method,negative norm estimate,energy methodand the theory of prior estimates are adopted.Optimal order estimates in L~2 norm are derived for the error inthe approximate solution.     

Algorithms for finding proper essential surfaces in 3-manifolds

In this paper, we present an algorithm which, for a given compact orientable irreducible boundary irreducible 3-manifold M, verifies whether M contains an essential orientable surface (possibly, with boundary), whose genus is at most N. The algorithm is based on Haken’s theory of normal surfaces, and on a trick suggested by Jaco and consisting in estimating the mean length of boundary curves in an unknown essential surface of a given genus in the given manifold.
