Optical and structural properties of MOVPE grown GaxIn1−xAs/InP strained multiple quantum well atructures

This paper presents a study of the structural and optical properties of strained GaInAs/ InP multiple quantum well (MQW) structures fabricated by LP-MOVPE. The composition of the Ga _x In_1−x As films ranged fromx = 0.17 tox = 1.0 and was determined by sputtered neutral mass spectrometry (SNMS) on thick layers. The structures of the MQW samples with well widths from 1.5 to 5 nm were investigated by high resolution x-ray diffraction (HR-XRD). Simulations of the diffraction patterns showed that transition layers of approximately 2 monolayer (ML) thickness with high lattice mismatch exist at the interfaces. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements indicate well widths of a multiple of a monolayer with local variations of one monolayer. The PL peak energies vary smoothly with the Ga concentration. These results were confirmed by optical absorption measurements.     

Temperature‐modulated differential scanning calorimetry studies on the origin of double melting peaks in isothermally melt‐crystallized poly(L‐lactic acid)

In this work, the melting behaviors of nonisothermally and isothermally melt‐crystallized poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA) from the melt were investigated with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and temperature‐modulated differential scanning calorimetry (TMDSC). The isothermal melt crystallizations of PLLA at a temperature in the range of 100–110 °C for 120 min or at 110 °C for a time in the range of 10–180 min appeared to exhibit double melting peaks in the DSC heating curves of 10 °C/min. TMDSC analysis revealed that the melting–recrystallization mechanism dominated the formation of the double melting peaks in PLLA samples following melt crystallizations at 110 °C for a shorter time (≤30 min) or at a lower temperature (100, 103, or 105 °C) for 120 min, whereas the double lamellar thickness model dominated the formation of the double melting peaks in those PLLA samples crystallized at a higher temperature (108 or 110 °C) for 120 min or at 110 °C for a longer time (≥45 min). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Local polynomial fitting under association

We consider the estimation of multivariate regression functions r(x₁,…,x_d) and their partial derivatives up to a total order p1 using high-order local polynomial fitting. The processes {Y_i,X_i} are assumed to be (jointly) associated. Joint asymptotic normality is established for the estimates of the regression function r and all its partial derivatives up to the total order p. Expressions for the bias and variance/covariance matrix (of the asymptotic distribution) are given.

In_（0．2）Ga_（0．8）As／GaAs应变多量子阱结构的光调制反射和热调制反射谱的研究

对Ｉｎ（０．２）Ｇａ（０．８）Ａｓ／ＧａＡｓ应变多量子阱在７７Ｋ下的光调制反射谱（ＰＲ）和热调制反射谱（ＴＲ）进行了实验研究．对ＰＲ结果的线形拟合指认了应变多量子阱中子能级的跃迁，并与理论计算结果作了比较．实验对比确认ＰＲ中１１Ｈ、１３Ｈ等跃迁结构为非耦合态、具有电场调制机构的一阶微商性质．而１１Ｌ、３１Ｈ、２２Ｈ等跃迁结构为阶间耦合态，对这些隧穿耦合的低场调制产生三阶微商特性．     

Deorthogonalization of ODS-CDMA QPSK by AM/PM Nonlinearity

When using a conventional demodulator, a sufficient condition to maintain ODS-CDMA codeword orthogonality is constant relative channel amplitude over the codeword duration. When transmitted over a memoryless, AM/PM nonlinearity channel, the chip-to-chip fluctuating amplitude of a composite ODS-CDMA QPSK waveform produces a chip-to-chip fluctuating phase that deorthogonalizes the ODS-CDMA codewords, resulting in an additional multiple access self-interference similar to that found in asynchronous DS-CDMA. For ODS-CDMA QPSK in an AM/PM nonlinearity channel, we utilize the Central Limit Theorem, derive, and evaluate: (i) an expression for the signal-to-distortion ratio at the demodulator output, (ii) an expression for the uncoded bit error probability, and (iii) an upper bound on the convolutionally-coded bit error probability. We find that the degradation to BER depends on both the AM/PM nonlinearity slope and the ODS-CDMA channel loading.

On multiple integrals of special form

Multiple integrals generalizing the iterated kernels of integral operators are expressed as single integrals in the case of a special representation of the kernel (this is our theorem). Besides integral equations, Markov processes involve these integrals as well. As a consequence of the theorem, we obtain transition probability densities of certain Markov processes. As an illustration, we consider nine examples.     

A Distributional Approach to Multiple Stochastic Integrals and Transformations of the Poisson Measure

We study a class of ‘nonpoissonian’ transformations of the configuration space and the corresponding transformations of the Poisson measure. For some class of Poisson measures we find conditions which are sufficient for the transformed measure (which in general is nonpoissonian) to be absolutely continuous with respect to the initial Poisson measure and get the expression for the corresponding Radon–Nikodym derivative. To solve this problem we use a distributional approach to Poisson multiple stochastic integrals.
