This paper reports the design of a multiband metamaterial (MM) absorber in the terahertz region. Theoretical and simulated results show that the absorber has four distinct and strong absorption points at 1.69, 2.76, 3.41 and 5.06 THz, which are consistent with `fingerprints' of some explosive materials. The retrieved material parameters show that the impedance of MM could be tuned to match approximately the impedance of the free space to minimise the reflectance at absorption frequencies and large power loss exists at absorption frequencies. The distribution of the power loss indicates that the absorber is an excellent electromagnetic wave collector: the wave is first trapped and reinforced in certain specific locations and then consumed. This multiband absorber has applications in the detection of explosives and materials characterisation.  相似文献

In this paper, the multiband complex wavelet used as multi-carrier basis function is optimized. On the basis of analyzing the principle of multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA), a new multiband complex wavelet based MC-CDMA (MBCW-MC-CDMA) system model is proposed, and space diversity combining (SDC) technique is employed to improve the system performance further. The uplink performance of proposed MBCW-MC-CDMA system with SDC technique is investigated in Rayleigh fading channel, and corresponding bit error rate (BER) analysis is given in detail. Without any cyclic prefix (CP), the system can avoid the decrease of spectrum efficiency and data rate of conventional MC-CDMA with CP. By comparison, our scheme outperforms real wavelet packet based MC-CDMA and slightly outperforms conventional MC-CDMA with CP via utilizing superior properties of the optimized multiband complex wavelet. Theoretical analysis and simulation result show that the application of SDC technique can improve the proposed system ability to combat spatial fading and various interferences effectively. Moreover, the proposed system based on SDC technique has superior BER performance over conventional DFT and SDC based MC-CDMA system and real wavelet packet and SDC based MC-CDMA system. His research interests include multi-carrier digital communication, space-time coding and digital signal processing in modern communications. Xiaodong Zhang received the M.S degrees from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Nanjing, China, in 1998. In 2002, he received the Ph.D. degree from Southeast University, Nanjing, China. His research interests include contemporary signal processing and digital communications. DaZhuan Xu received the M.S degrees and Ph.D. in Communication and Information Systems from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1986 and 2001, respectively. He is now a full professor in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing, China. Prof.Xu is a Senior Member of China Institute of Electronics (CIE). His research interests include digital communications, soft radio, coding theory, medical signal processing. Guangguo BI was graduated from Nanjing Institute of Technology, Nanjing, China, in 1960. He is now a professor in the Department of Radio Engineering of Southeast University, Nanjing, China. Prof.Bi is a fellow and a member of the board of Director of the China Institute of Communications, and a senior member of IEEE. His research interests include digital communications, personal communications network, spread spectrum communications, and intelligent information processing. In this paper, we propose direct-detection optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing superchannel (DDO-OFDM-S) and optical multiband receiving method (OMBR) to support a greater than 200 Gb/s data rate and longer distance for direct-detection systems. For the new OMBR, we discuss the optimum carrier-to-sideband power ratio (CSPR) in the cases of back-to-back and post transmission. We derive the analytical form for CSPR and theoretically verify it. A low overhead training method for estimating I/Q imbalance is also introduced in order to improve performance and maintain high system throughput. The experiment results show that these proposals enable an unprecedented data rate of 214 Gb/s (190 Gb/s without overhead) per wavelength over an unprecedented distance of 720 km SSMF in greater than 100 Gb/s DDO-OFDM systems.  相似文献

The mutual interference between the two ultra wideband (UWB) technologies, which use the same frequency spectrum, will be a matter of concern in the near future. In this context, we present a performance analysis of direct‐sequence (DS) UWB communication in the presence of multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB‐OFDM) UWB interfering transmissions. The channel fading is modeled according to Nakagami‐m distribution, and multi‐user interference is taken into account. The DS‐UWB system performance is evaluated in terms of bit error rate (BER). Specifically, using the characteristic function approach, an analytical expression for the average BER is derived conditioned on the channel impulse response. 目前三通带太赫兹滤波器存在通带带宽差异大的问题。为了提高太赫兹滤波器三通带的带宽均匀性,设计了一款基于频率选择表面的三通带太赫兹滤波器,其结构由三个嵌套式“十”字环金属贴片、“十”字金属贴片和聚酰亚胺衬底三层结构组成。当太赫兹波垂直入射到滤波器表面时,在0.1~0.862 THz范围内形成三个滤波通带,各通带的峰值透射系数约为0.9,具有较好的通带性能,并且通带之间的传输零点的透射系数都在0.07以下,带外抑制良好。各通带的3 dB带宽的最大通带比约为1.29,10 dB带宽的最大通带比约为1.13,具有较好通带均匀性。三个工作通带的矩形系数均大于1.7,通带边沿陡峭,频率选择性良好。该滤波器具有透射系数高、带宽差异小、结构简单和易于加工等特点,其在太赫兹的多信道通信领域具有广阔的应用前景。  相似文献
