In this article, we report on the viscoelastic and thermal properties of agarose–polyacrylamide (PAAm) interpenetrating polymer hydrogels (IPHs) and semi‐IPHs as a function of agarose concentration and PAAm crosslinking degree. The results demonstrated that the agarose is able to gel in the presence of crosslinked and linear IPHs. In addition, the reticulation of PAAm in the presence of agarose is confirmed for the case of IPHs giving rise to systems with dimensional stability at high temperatures. The formation of a fully IPH was ascertained at low agarose concentrations. A study of the morphology and nanoscale elasticity of the different systems has been carried out with atomic force microscopy/ultrasonic force microscopy (UFM). UFM data provide further evidence of interpenetration, allowing us to visualize—if present—phase‐separated domains with nanoscale resolution for the various crosslinking degrees and PAAm and agarose concentrations used during the formation of the IPHs. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper we present the analog CMOS architecture of a Multi Layer Perceptron network with on-chip stochastic Back Propagation learning. The learning algorithm is based on a local learning rate adaptation technique which makes the on-chip implementation more efficient (i.e. fast convergence speed) with respect to similar architectures presented in the literature. Circuit simulation results on the XOR learning problem validate the network behavior.  相似文献

We propose a negotiation strategy to address the effect of geography on the dynamics of naming games over small-world networks. Communication and negotiation frequencies between two agents are determined by their geographical distance in terms of a parameter characterizing the correlation between interaction strength and the distance. A finding is that there exists an optimal parameter value leading to fastest convergence to global consensus on naming. Numerical computations and a theoretical analysis are provided to substantiate our findings.  相似文献

We formulate a model for the optimal location of switches in ATM communications networks. The networks are designed in such a way that, at their arrival to the switches, ATM cells find free space in a buffer of length b, with a probability α. The model avoids the impairment to the communication caused by both cell loss (because of shorter buffers) and cell-delay variations (because of longer buffers). It is also shown how to transform a non-linear, probabilistic, constraint into a linear form. Computational experience is provided for the model. Many routing protocols and applications developed for ad hoc networks rely on location information of participating nodes. The exposure of such information, however, presents significant safety threats to the networks. In this paper, we investigate the problem of preventing an adversary from locating (and thus destroying) nodes based on their location information they disclose in communications. Our idea is to reduce location resolution to achieve a desired level of safety protection. We define the safety level of a geographic region to be the ratio of its area and the number of nodes inside it. The higher safety level a region has, the less attractive for an adversary to search over it for the nodes. When a node has to disclose its location, it can compute a cloaking box that meets a desired level of safety requirement and report that as its current location information. To implement this simple idea, there are several challenges. First, each cloaking box must be as small as possible in order to minimize the impact of reduced location resolution on the efficiency of network operating and applications. Second, nodes must be able to compute their cloaking boxes without having to reveal their accurate position. Finally, given a sequence of cloaking boxes, they must not be correlated to refine an area whose safety level is less than the requirement. Our research addresses these challenges with cost-effective solutions in the context of both stationary and mobile ad hoc networks. We evaluate the performance of our techniques through both mathematical analysis and simulation. In addition, we present a new geographic routing protocol which can work with blurred location information and evaluate the impact of location resolution reduction on the performance of this technique.  相似文献

This paper intends to present a summary of the technical issues arising in the exploitation of the 60 GHz mm-wave band for mobile and personal communications. The most significant applications proposed so far are surveyed, with particular emphasis placed on recent experimentation about millimeter-wave propagation for road/railway transportation as well as indoor scenarios. As a case study, the capacity of a (micro-)cellular Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network in the 60-GHz band is also evaluated in detail.  相似文献

Two major planning problems are encountered when designing a cellular radio network. The initial question is where to locate the base transmitter stations such that full coverage is achieved at low interference. This is relevant for frequency division (FDMA) as well as code division multiple access (CDMA) technology. If the locations of base stations are given, then for an FDMA-system frequencies have to be assigned such that there is a sufficient number of channels per cell available at a low total interference level. Since cell site selection and frequency allocation have mutual influences on each other, the ultimate goal is to deal with both problems in a single design step. The main intention of this paper is to model the above planning issues as linear integer programs, and to discuss solution methods for the corresponding NP-hard problems. According to their increasing complexity we proceed from channel allocation via cell site selection to an integrated single setup.  相似文献

In the third generation cellular networks and beyond, a wide variety of different services are/will be provided by the operators. Out of QoS reasons, it is preferable to assign higher priority to certain connection types. These include calls carrying delay-sensitive services and already ongoing calls. In this paper, a prioritization method combining bandwidth borrowing and reservation, called BBR, will be presented. BBR monitors the rate-adaptiveness of the ongoing calls in a cell. Simultaneously, advanced movement predictions are applied to estimate the arrival rate to each cell. If it is determined that the use of bandwidth borrowing (temporarily reducing the data rate of other connections in the same cell) is not sufficient to support the high priority calls that are expected to arrive, a portion of the assigned bandwidth to the cell is exclusively reserved for these calls to prevent call dropping. The scheme enables the operator to increase the average user satisfaction in the network. This is achieved by defining appropriate penalty functions for the events of blocking, dropping and bandwidth reduction of a call.  相似文献

In this paper, we have resolved the problem of forced call termination that occurs when mobile traffic is concentrated on a hot‐spot cell in cellular networks. Enhanced Channel Management Scheme (ECMS) is an innovative way to increase the flexibility of channel usage over non‐uniform traffic distribution. ECMS exploits mobile hosts initiated or active in overlapping areas between cells. The scheme consists of three phases to monitor the status of channels on each base station and to make a channel reservation using the availability list maintained for the candidate‐MH selection. When the traffic load in a cell is intolerably high, ECMS invokes the load‐balancing procedure to distribute its traffic to adjacent cells. The reserved channels are used to support the safe and fast handoff. From the simulation, we observed that ECMS outperformed other compatible channel assignment schemes such as directed handoff schemes in blocking probability and channel utilization.
