A Fourier‐Galerkin spectral method is proposed and used to analyze a system of quasilinear partial differential equations governing the drainage of liquids of the Oldroyd four‐constant type. It is shown that, Fourier‐Galerkin approximations are convergent with spectral accuracy. An efficient and accurate algorithm based on the Fourier‐Galerkin approximations to the system of quasilinear partial differential equations are developed and implemented. We consider an infinite-dimensional isotonic regression problem which is an extension of the suitably revised classical isotonic regression problem. Given p-summable data, for p finite and at least one, there exists an optimal estimator to our problem. For p greater than one, this estimator is unique and is the limit in the p-norm of the sequence of unique estimators in canonical finite-dimensional truncations of our problem. However, for p equal to one, our problem, as well as the finite-dimensional truncations, admit multiple optimal estimators in general. In this case, the sequence of optimal estimator sets to the truncations converges to the optimal estimator set of the infinite problem in the sense of Kuratowski. Moreover, the selection of natural best optimal estimators to the truncations converges in the 1-norm to an optimal estimator of the infinite problem.  相似文献

We present a method for calibrating the position error of phase retrieval with transverse translation diversity in optical wavefront in situation where the position error sharply influences algorithm precision. This method involves testifying that the essence of the position error in phase retrieval is the translation in frequency domain and the minimum of iterative error against position error reaches when there is no position error. Then the least square method is used for fitting the relationship between the iterative error and the assumed position error in polynomial function. The computer simulations used to prove the validity of this method are described. The results indicated that this method can calibrate the position error to approximately 1/500 mm which nearly has no influence on the phase retrieval.  相似文献

We consider the kernel estimation of a multivariate regression function at a point. Theoretical choices of the bandwidth are possible for attaining minimum mean squared error or for local scaling, in the sense of asymptotic distribution. However, these choices are not available in practice. We follow the approach of Krieger and Pickands (Ann. Statist.9 (1981) 1066–1078) and Abramson (J. Multivariate Anal.12 (1982), 562–567) in constructing adaptive estimates after demonstrating the weak convergence of some error process. As consequences, efficient data-driven consistent estimation is feasible, and data-driven local scaling is also feasible. In the latter instance, nearest-neighbor-type estimates and variance-stabilizing estimates are obtained as special cases.  相似文献

This comparison of some a posteriori error estimators aims at empirical evidence for a ranking of their performance for a Poisson model problem with conforming lowest order finite element discretizations. Modified residual-based error estimates compete with averaging techniques and two estimators based on local problem solving. Multiplicative constants are involved to achieve guaranteed upper and lower energy error bounds up to higher order terms. The optimal strategy combines various estimators.  相似文献

In 1999 Amodio and Mazzia presented a new backward error analysis for LU factorization and introduced a new growth factor n . Their very interesting approach allowed them to obtain sharp error bounds. In particular, they derive nice results assuming that partial pivoting is used. However, the forward error bound for the solution of a linear system whose coefficient matrix A is an M-atrix given in Theorem 4.1 of that paper is not correct. They first obtain a bound for the condition number (U) assuming that one has the LU factorization of an M-matrix and then they apply the bounds obtained when partial pivoting is used. But if P is the permutation associated with partial pivoting then PA = LU can fail to be an M-atrix and the bound for (U) can be false, as shown in our Example 1.1. We also prove that, for a pivoting strategy presented in the paper, the growth factor of an M-matrix A is n(A) = 1 and (U) (A), where U is the upper triangular matrix obtained after applying such a pivoting strategy.This revised version was published online in October 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In this paper it is shown that for the entropy loss, the best lower-triangular affine equivariant minimax estimator of –1 is inadmissible and an improved estimator is explicitly constructed. We study smoothing properties and approximation of time derivatives for time discretization schemes with variable time steps for a homogeneous parabolic problem formulated as an abstract initial value problem in a Banach space. The time stepping methods are based on using rational approximations to the exponential function which are A()-stable for suitable (0,/2] with unit bounded maximum norm. First- and second-order approximations of time derivatives based on using difference quotients are considered. Smoothing properties are derived and error estimates are established under the so-called increasing quasi-quasiuniform assumption on the time steps.  相似文献
