The Maximum Likelihood estimator is used within a lognormaldiffusion process and closed form analytical solutions are obtained.The monthly CPI forecasts are estimated for the period between1970 and 2002. The quarterly estimates of inflation rates areobtained from monthly forecasts rather than from quarterly data.This has significantly improved the estimates of inflation rates.The model also produced a superior fit as compared to randomwalk and GARCH(p,q)-M models. The adopted approach is foundto be simple, economical and generally suitable for modellingstochastic processes that reflect aggregation over time stemmingfrom many factors, and in which the transition path betweenconsecutive states is relatively smooth.  相似文献

We prove that the two-sided limit shadowing property is among the strongest known notions of pseudo-orbit tracing. It implies shadowing, average shadowing, asymptotic average shadowing and specification properties. We also introduce a weaker notion that is called two-sided limit shadowing with a gap and prove that it implies shadowing and transitivity. We show that those two properties allow to characterize topological transitivity and mixing in a class of expansive homeomorphisms and hence they characterize transitive (mixing) shifts of finite type.  相似文献

This article proposes a statistical method for working out reliability sampling plans under Type I censored sample for items whose failure times have either normal or lognormal distributions. The quality statistic is a method of moments estimator of a monotonous function of the unreliability. An approach of choosing a truncation time is recommended. The sample size and acceptability constant are approximately determined by using the Cornish-Fisher expansion for quantiles of distribution. Simulation results show that the method given in this article is feasible.  相似文献

Existence of a least squares solution for a sum of several weighted normal functions is proved. The gradient descent (GD) method is used to fit the measured data (i.e. the laser grain-size distribution of the sediments) with a sum of three weighted lognormal functions. The numerical results indicate that the GD method is not only easy to operate but also could effectively optimize the parameters of the fitting function with the error decreasing steadily. Meanwhile the overall fitting results are satisfactory. As a new way of data fitting, the GD method could also be used to solve other optimization problems.  相似文献

The problem concerning short‐term fading and long‐term fading (shadowing) and their deleterious effects on wireless systems performance has been in focus for a long time. In this paper, motivated by the results of propagation measurements in land‐mobile and indoor‐mobile systems, and by the fact that gamma distribution can describe shadowing reliably, Nakagami‐m distribution is used to model the signal envelope and gamma distribution is used to model the average signal power. Receive diversity with maximal‐ratio combining and selection combining is implemented at the microlevel and macrolevel, respectively. The general case is explored, which assumes that microdiversity and macrodiversity are provided through arbitrary number of channels. Because shadowing has larger correlation distance than short‐term fading, correlated macrodiversity channels are studied. This paper investigates the dynamics of the received signal. A novel rapidly converging infinite‐series expression for average level crossing rate and average fade duration are obtained. Numerical results are graphically presented to examine the impact of fading severity, shadowing severity, number of diversity branches at the microlevel, number of base stations and correlation between base stations to the system's performance. Wireless channels suffer from short term fading and shadowing simultaneously. While simple models of short term fading are based on the Nakagami-m distribution, short term fading can also be described as a cascading process allowing the modeling of wireless channels having worse fading than what exists in Nakagami-m channels. Shadowing, on the other hand, has been traditionally modeled as a lognormal process, making the analysis of shadowed fading channels cumbersome. Taking note of the fact that the lognormal density arises out of a multiplicative process, it was shown that shadowing can also be modeled as a cascading process. Utilizing such a vision of shadowing, this work provides an overview of a unified cascaded approach to model wireless channels when short term fading and shadowing are simultaneously present. The degradation in such shadowed fading channels is estimated in terms of error rates and outage probabilities. Results are compared to those of the exact model based on lognormal density as well as random number simulation. Analysis demonstrates that error rates and outage probabilities obtained using the exact model (lognormal model for shadowing) agree very well with those obtained through the composite cascaded model as well as random number simulations.  相似文献
