Abstract Calorimetric titrations have been performed in anhydrous acetonitrile at 25°C to give the complex stability constants (K s) and the thermodynamic parameters (ΔGΔ, ΔHΔ and ΔSΔ) for the complexation of light lanthanoid(III) nitrates (La-Gd) with N-benzylaza-21-crown-7 3. Data analyses, assuming 1:1 stoichiometry, were successfully applied to all light lanthanoid-azacrown ether combinations employed. Using the present and previous data on 15- to 21- membered N-benzylazacrown ethers 1–3, the effect of ring size upon complexation behavior was discussed comparatively and globally from the thermodynamic point of view. The complexation behaviors are analyzed in terms of the size-fit concept, N-substituent coordination numbers, and lanthanoid's surface charge density. Thermodynamically the complexation of light lanthanoids with azacrown ethers is enthalpy-driven, while the cation selectivity is generally entropy-driven in acetonitrile. 相似文献

Soy protein–based polymers offer promising performance properties, but their characteristics are sensitively dependent on production conditions, so on-line monitoring could help provide the needed control during production. Mid-infrared spectroscopy combined with partial least squares offer the needed analysis, but the opacity of many materials in the mid-infrared range limits its conventional application. Transient infrared spectroscopy is a method of acquiring mid-infrared spectra from moving streams in real time that avoids the opacity problem. We apply transient infrared spectroscopy to a polymer of soy protein and polyisoprene-graft-maleic anhydride–modified natural rubber during its compounding extrusion to measure tensile strength and Young's modulus. 相似文献

A series of pyrenoimidazoles that contained various functional chromophores, such as anthracene, pyrene, triphenylamine, carbazole, and fluorene, were synthesized and characterized by optical, electrochemical, and theoretical studies. The absorption spectra of the dyes are dominated by electronic transitions that arise from the pyrenoimidazole core and the additional chromophore. All of the dyes exhibited blue‐light photoluminescence with moderate‐to‐high quantum efficiencies. They also displayed high thermal stability and their thermal‐decomposition temperatures fell within the range 462–512 °C; the highest decomposition temperature was recorded for a carbazole‐containing dye. The oxidation propensity of the dyes increased on the introduction of electron‐rich chromophores, such as triphenylamine or carbazole. The application of selected dyes that featured additional chromophores such as pyrene, carbazole, and triphenylamine as blue‐emissive dopants into multilayered organic light‐emitting diodes with a 4,4′‐bis(9H‐carbazol‐9‐yl)biphenyl (CBP) host was investigated. Devices that were based on triphenylamine‐ and carbazole‐containing dyes exhibited deep‐blue emission (CIE 0.157, 0.054 and 0.163, 0.041), whereas a device that was based on a pyrene‐containing dye showed a bright‐blue emission (CIE 0.156, 0.135). 相似文献

The aim of the work was to find whether these blends are colloid systems. Influence of different parameters was investigated to verify the results of this research. The effect of different kinds of additives (electrolytes, nonelectrolytes, hydrotropes, and surfactants) on the cloud point (CP) of low molecular weight and narrow dispersed poly(n-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) controlled radical polymerization was examined. The CP showed a concentration dependent variation and it is greatly modified in the presence of additives. The size of the random polymer coil at 30°C obtained from dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements is often influenced by the presence of additives. We have explained the effects of different additives on PNIPAM in terms of their interaction with polymer and resultant changes in the coil structure. 相似文献

Pretransitional fluctuations in the isotropic phase of liquid crystalline and non‐liquid crystalline alkyl cyanobiphenyls have been investigated using light scattering and magnetic birefringence measurements. We find evidence for a virtual isotropic‐nematic phase transition in short‐chain alkyl cyanobiphenyls with no observable nematic phase. The measured temperature dependence of fluctuations is well‐described by mean‐field theory. Virtual phase transition temperatures extrapolated from separate light scattering and magnetic birefringence experiments are in good agreement. Landau–de Gennes model parameters for the compounds investigated are calculated from the experimental results. 相似文献

A series of novel red phosphorescent polymers is successfully developed through Suzuki cross‐coupling among ambipolar units, functionalized IrIII phosphorescent blocks, and fluorene‐based silane moieties. The photophysical and electrochemical investigations indicate not only highly efficient energy‐transfer from the organic segments to the phosphorescent units in the polymer backbone but also the ambipolar character of the copolymers. Benefiting from all these merits, the phosphorescent polymers can furnish organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) with exceptional high electroluminescent (EL) efficiencies with a current efficiency (η L) of 8.31 cd A−1, external quantum efficiency (η ext) of 16.07%, and power efficiency (η P) of 2.95 lm W−1, representing the state‐of‐the‐art electroluminescent performances ever achieved by red phosphorescent polymers. This work here might represent a new pathway to design and synthesize highly efficient phosphorescent polymers.

History has shown that it is not as easy as one might think to differentiate between bulk nanobubbles and nanodroplets or nanoparticles. It is generally easy to detect colloids (i.e. something that looks different, e.g. scatters light differently than its surrounding solvent), but less easy to determine the nature of these colloids. This has led to misinterpretations in the literature, where nanodroplets or nanoparticles have mistakenly been assumed to be nanobubbles. In this paper, we review a multitude of experimental methods and approaches to prove the existence of bulk nanobubbles. We conclude that combinations of optical detection with physical perturbations such as pressure or ultrasound, or phase-sensitive holographic methods are the most promising and convenient approaches. 相似文献

White‐light‐emitting materials and devices have attracted enormous interest because of their great potential for various lighting applications. We herein describe the light‐emitting properties of a series of new difunctional organic molecules of remarkably simple structure consisting of two terminal 4‐pyridone push–pull subunits separated by a polymethylene chain. They were found to emit almost “pure” white light as a single organic compound in the solid state, as well as when incorporated in a polymer film.
