The dynamics of super-twisted nematic (STN) liquid crystal displays have rarely been studied. In this article, the dynamic response of STN is analysed in detail. The evolution of director configuration with time was obtained by solving Ericksen–Leslie hydrodynamic equations. The time varying midlayer tilt angle is presented as a measure of dynamic response. The influence on STN dynamics of cell parameters including pretilt angle, twist angle, cell thickness, and of material parameters including d/p, K 22, K 33, were studied.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The structures of the liquid crystal (LC) molecules have a key role in impacting the electro-optical performance of a polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) film. In this paper, the relationship between the LC molecular structures and the electro-optical properties of PDLC films is investigated based on an unexplored cyano-terminated tolane compounds (CTTCs) doped E8 LCs/UV polymers system. Due to the high polarity of CTTCs, LCs doped with the cyano-terminated tolane (CTT) molecules exhibit high birefringence and large positive dielectric anisotropy. On the whole, PDLC films doped with the CTT molecules exhibit a lower driving voltage than that doped with the pure E8. More excitingly, PDLC films based on CTT molecules with larger length-to-width ratio and longer conjugated system show higher contrast ratio (CR) and faster response time. Eventually, the mechanism of the effects of CTT-based molecular structures and the relationship between the electro-optical performance of PDLC films and CTT molecules are illustrated. This work paves a new way for optimising the electro-optical properties of PDLC films.  相似文献

Expressions of Redlich–Kister (RK) excess function using polynomials on difference of molar composition are used. Calculated values of excess properties from experimental values are well presented in some curves as a function of mole fraction (x2) of the second pure component of the studied binary liquid mixture. Nevertheless, the authors presented values of adjustable parameters, not for the polynomial of the popular RK equation (i.e. vs. x2x1), but for globally the excess property YE as an overall three degree polynomial on (x2) including implicitly the molar fraction product (x1·x2) in their nonlinear regression, which can then induces some readers to probable confusion.  相似文献

Measurements of the complex permittivity, ε*?=?ε′ – ″, within the frequency range 200 Hz to 10 MHz for 15 laterally fluoro-substituted terphenyls have been conducted. In most cases the substances exhibited the nematic phase over a broad temperature range. All substances were characterised by negative dielectric anisotropy, and are potentially useful for vertical alignment mode systems. The static permittivity tensor components have been analysed in relation to the dipole structure of the molecules. Dielectric relaxation processes observed in the liquid crystalline (LC) and solid rotator (R) phases (obtained by slow cooling of the samples) are characterised by calculation of the relaxation times and activation barriers. The rotation motions around the short axes are typical for LC phases, whereas rotations about the long axes, accompanied in some cases by internal motions, are present in the R phase.  相似文献

为提高神经网络的逼近和预测能力,提出一种各维输入为离散序列的量子衍生神经网络模型及算法。该模型为三层结构,隐层为量子衍生神经元,输出层为普通神经元。量子衍生神经元由量子旋转门和多位受控旋转门组成,利用多位受控旋转门中目标量子位的输出向输入端的反馈,实现对输入序列的整体记忆,利用受控旋转门输出中多位量子比特的纠缠获得量子衍生神经元的输出。基于量子计算理论设计了该模型的学习算法。该模型可从宽度和深度两方面获取输入序列的特征。仿真结果表明,当输入节点数和序列长度满足一定关系时,该模型明显优于普通神经网络。  相似文献

In this paper, we report on the fabrication of a crosslinked polymer-mixture gate insulator for high-performance organic thin-film transistors (TFTs). We used cyanoethylated pullulan (CEP) as a crosslinkable high-k polymer matrix and poly(ethylene-alt-maleic anhydride) (PEMA) as a polymeric crosslinking agent. Because PEMA has a high number of functional groups reactive to the hydroxyl groups of CEP, the use of PEMA is effective for minimizing the amount of remaining hydroxyl groups strongly related to the large current hysteresis and high off current of the organic TFTs. To investigate the potential of the CEP-PEMA mixture as a gate insulator, we fabricated 2,7-dioctyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (C8-BTBT) TFTs. The C8-BTBT TFT with the 60 nm-thick CEP-PEMA gate insulator showed excellent TFT performance with a field-effect mobility of 1.4 cm2/V s and an on/off ratio of 2.4 × 106.  相似文献

We present a detailed theoretical and experimental study of the reflectance response of a deformed-helix ferroelectric (DHF) liquid crystal (LC) cell to an applied voltage under cross-polarisers. Using a model based on the effective dielectric tensor approximation, we derive simple analytical formulas to design a LC cell with maximum modulation depth and optimal linearity of the electro-optical response intensity versus the electric field. Our experimental results show that the cell works at frequencies up to 10 kHz and exhibits excellent linearity, with a total harmonic distortion as low as ?70 dB. These findings suggest that DHF-LCs can be exploited to develop simple and accurate optical sensors.  相似文献

Here, we report on the performance and the characterization of all solution-processable top-contact organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) consisting of a natural-resourced triacetate cellulose gate dielectric and a representative hole-transport poly[2,5-bis(3-dodecylthiophen-2-yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene] (pBTTT) semiconductor layer on rigid or flexible substrates. The bio-based triacetate cellulose layer has an important role in the OTFT fabrication because it provides the pBTTT semiconducting polymer with highly suitable gate dielectric properties including a low surface roughness, hydrophobic surface, appropriate dielectric constant, and low leakage current. The triacetate cellulose gate dielectric-based pBTTT OTFTs exhibit an average filed-effect mobility of 0.031 cm2/Vs similar to that obtained from a SiO2 gate dielectric-based OTFT device in ambient conditions. Even after a bending stimulation of 100 times and in an outward bending state, the flexible triacetate cellulose gate pBTTT OTFT device still showed excellent electrical device performance without any hysteresis.  相似文献
