There has been a need for development of microwave resonator designs optimized to provide high sensitivity and high stability for EPR spectroscopy and imaging measurements of in vivo systems. The design and construction of a novel reentrant resonator with transversely oriented electric field (TERR) and rectangular sample opening cross section for EPR spectroscopy and imaging of in vivo biological samples, such as the whole body of mice and rats, is described. This design with its transversely oriented capacitive element enables wide and simple setting of the center frequency by trimming the dimensions of the capacitive plate over the range 100-900 MHz with unloaded Q values of approximately 1100 at 750 MHz, while the mechanical adjustment mechanism allows smooth continuous frequency tuning in the range +/-50 MHz. This orientation of the capacitive element limits the electric field based loss of resonator Q observed with large lossy samples, and it facilitates the use of capacitive coupling. Both microwave performance data and EPR measurements of aqueous samples demonstrate high sensitivity and stability of the design, which make it well suited for in vivo applications. 相似文献

shift to store information in the microring resonator and enhance the switching characteristics of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer
(MZI). By introducing coupling between adjacent microring resonators, the switching characteristics of the MZI can be exponentially
enhanced as a function of the number of microring resonators, when compared to the linear enhancement for uncoupled resonators.
With only a few moderate-finesse microring resonators, the switching power can be reduced to attowatt level, allowing for
photonic switching devices that operate at single-photon level in ordinary optical waveguides.

This paper presents a new class of microstrip slow-wave open-loop resonator filter with reduced size and improved stopband characteristics. A comprehensive treatment of both resonator ends loaded with triangular and rectangular shapes is described, leading to the invention of a microstrip slow-wave open-loop resonator. A four-resonator bandpass filter is designed at the operating frequency about 2 GHz, bandwidth of 60 MHz. The size of the slow-wave open-loop resonator is optimized from the standpoint of the unloaded Q-factor. The proposed filter is not only compact size due to the slow-wave effect but also has a wider upper stopband resulting from the dispersion effect. Based on the paraxial vectorial theory of beams propagating in uniaxially anisotropic media, we have derived the analytical propagation equations of beams generated by Gaussian mirror resonator (GMR) in uniaxial crystals, and given the typical numerical example to illustrate our analytical results. Due to the anisotropy crystals, the ordinary and extraordinary beams originated by incident beams generated by GMR propagate with different diffraction lengths, thus the linear polarization state and axial symmetry of the incident beams generated by GMR do not remain during propagating in crystals. 相似文献
