We report results on the geometrical statistics of the vorticity vector obtained from experiments in electromagnetically forced rotating turbulence. A range of rotation rates Ω is considered, from non-rotating to rapidly rotating turbulence with a maximum background rotation rate of Ω = 5 rad/s (with Rossby number much smaller than unity). Typically, the Taylor-scale Reynolds number in our experiments is around Reλ ≈ 100. The measurement volume is located in the centre of the fluid container above the bottom boundary layer, where the turbulent flow can be considered locally statistically isotropic and horizontally homogeneous for the non-rotating case, see L.J.A. van Bokhoven, H.J.H. Clercx, G.J.F. van Heijst, and R.R. Trieling, Experiments on rapidly rotating turbulent flows, Phys. Fluids 21 (2009) 096601. Based on the full set of velocity derivatives, measured in a Lagrangian way by three-dimensional (3D) particle tracking velocimetry, we have been able to quantify statistically the effect of system rotation on several flow properties. For the range of rotation rates considered, the experimental results show how the turbulence evolves from almost isotropic 3D turbulence (Ω ? 0.2 rad/s) to quasi-two-dimensional turbulence (Ω ≈ 5.0 rad/s), and how this is reflected by several statistical quantities. In particular, we have studied the orientation of the vorticity vector with respect to the three eigenvectors of the local strain rate tensor and with respect to the vortex stretching vector. Additionally, we have quantified the role of system rotation on the self-amplification terms of the enstrophy and strain rate equations and the direct contribution of the background rotation on these evolution equations. The main effect of background rotation is the strong reduction of extreme events and related (strong) reduction of the skewness of PDFs of several quantities, for example, the intermediate eigenvalue of the strain rate tensor and the enstrophy self-amplification term.  相似文献

The scale-dependent response of an instrumented full-scale wind turbine is studied under neutrally stratified conditions. The analysis is focused on the linkage between the incoming flow, turbine power output and foundation strain. Wind speed, measured from sonic anemometers installed on a meteorological tower, and foundation strain were sampled at 20 Hz, while the turbine power was sampled at 1 Hz. A wavelet framework and structure function are used to obtain cross correlations among flow turbulence, turbine power and strain across scales as well as to quantify intermittent signatures in both flow and turbine quantities. Results indicate that correlation between the streamwise velocity component of the wind flow and turbine power is maximised across all scales larger than the rotor radius for wind measured at the turbine hub height. The characteristic time lag associated with maximum correlation is shown to be consistent with the Taylor’s hypothesis for turbulent scales smaller than the separation between the meteorological tower and the turbine. However, it decreases with increasing scale size and diminishes to zero at scales on the order of the boundary layer thickness. Turbine power and strain fluctuations exhibited practically the same behaviour at scales larger than two rotor diameters. At those scales, the cross correlation between these quantities resulted ~0.99 and remains still over 0.9 at the scale of rotor radius. Below this scale, the correlation decreases logarithmically with scale. The strong linkage between power and strain for all the relevant scales would eventually allow the analysis of dynamic forcing on the foundation based on the power output. Intermittency on the flow is shown to be transferred and amplified by the turbine, leading to highly intermittent power output.  相似文献

A series resonance circuit under sinuousoidal driving is investigated experimentally. The inductance consists of an air coil. The capacitance is made up of a ferroelectric material that introduces its nonlinear dielectric properties into the circuit. The dynamical system linear coil-nonlinear capacaitor shows an interesting behaviour. The phase portrait differs in general from the ellipse of the harmonic oscillator. For appropriate external conditions period doubling sequences, chaos and therein enclosed periodic windows might occur. Starting from a cubic nonlinearity of the dielectric properties a Duffing equation is proposed as a model for periodic behaviour of the series resonance circuit. Simulations of experimentally recorded phase portraits yield good agreement between experiment and model.  相似文献

We obtain convergent power series representations for Bloch waves in periodic high-contrast media. The material coefficient in the inclusions can be positive or negative. The small expansion parameter is the ratio of period cell width to wavelength, and the coefficient functions are solutions of the cell problems arising from formal asymptotic expansion. In the case of positive coefficient, the dispersion relation has an infinite sequence of branches, each represented by a convergent even power series whose leading term is a branch of the dispersion relation for the homogenized medium. 介绍了以钛酸四丁酯和自制高纯醋酸钡为主要原料,采用溶胶–凝胶一步法(sol-gel)制备限流用BaTiO3系PTC陶瓷材料的工艺路线,用正交实验法研究了Ti/Ba,Pb,Ca,Y,Mn等组分因素对PTC陶瓷材料性能的影响。优化确定了PTC陶瓷材料的较佳组成。在基方固溶体化学组成,原材料选择和复合添加物的改性,特别是烧结工艺等方面做了细致的工作。最终获得了居里温度(tC)100℃,室温电阻率(r25) ≤20 ·cm,升阻比(Rmax / Rmin)>105,温度系数(aR)≥15% /℃,耐电压(Vb)≥190 V·mm1的PTC陶瓷材料。  相似文献
