Cooperative transmission can be seen as a “virtual” MIMO system, where the multiple transmit antennas are in fact implemented distributed by the antennas both at the source and the relay terminal. Depending on the system design, diversity/multiplexing gains are achievable. This design involves the definition of the type of retransmission (incremental redundancy, repetition coding), the design of the distributed space-time codes, the error correcting scheme, the operation of the relay (decode & forward or amplify & forward) and the number of antennas at each terminal. Proposed schemes are evaluated in different conditions in combination with forward error correcting codes (FEC), both for linear and near-optimum (sphere decoder) receivers, for its possible implementation in downlink high speed packet services of cellular networks. Results show the benefits of coded cooperation over direct transmission in terms of increased throughput. It is shown that multiplexing gains are observed even if the mobile station features a single antenna, provided that cell wide reuse of the relay radio resource is possible.  相似文献

We propose a new Markov model for the distributed coordination function (DCF) of IEEE 802.11. The model incorporates carrier sense, non-saturated traffic and SNR, for both basic and RTS/CTS access mechanisms. Analysis of the model shows that the throughput first increases, and then decreases with the number of active stations, suggesting the need for an admission control mechanism.We introduce such a mechanism, which tries to maximize the throughput while maintaining a fair allocation. The maximum achievable throughput is tracked by the mechanism as the number of active stations increases. An extensive performance analysis shows that the mechanism provides significant improvements.Mustafa Ergen received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) and was the METU Valedictorian in 2000. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering in 2002 and 2004, the MOT certificate of HAAS Business School in 2003, and the M.A. degree in International and Area Studies in 2004 from the University of California, Berkeley.Dr. Ergen has been conducting research in wireless communication networks with an emphasis on sensor networks, wireless LAN and OFDM systems and is the author of many works in the field, including the book (with A.R.S. Saltzberg) Multi-Carrier Digital Communications: Theory and Applications of OFDM (New York: Springer, 2004).He is National Semiconductor Post Doctoral Fellow and was awarded eight times Bulent Kerim Altay Award by department of electrical engineering in METU and received Best Student Paper Award in IEEE ISCC 2003 and has an invited paper in IEEE GLOBECOM CAMAD 200.Pravin Varaiya is Nortel Networks Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. From 1975 to 1992, he was also Professor of Economics at Berkeley. His research is concerned with communication networks, transportation, and hybrid systems. He has taught at MIT and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Varaiya has held a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Miller Research Professorship. He received an Honorary Doctorate from L’Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, and the Field Medal of the IEEE Control Systems Society. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He is on the editorial board of several journals, including “Discrete Event Dynamical Systems” and “Transportation Research-C.” He has co-authored three books and more than 250 technical papers. The second edition of “High-Performance Communication Networks” (with Jean Walrand) was published by Morgan-Kaufmann in 2000. “Structure and interpretation of signals and systems” (with Edward Lee) was published in 2002 by Addison-Wesley.  相似文献

Depth image-based rendering (DIBR), which is used to render virtual views with a color image and the corresponding depth map, is one of the key techniques in the 2D to 3D conversion process. One of the main problems in DIBR is how to reduce holes that occur on the generated virtual view images. In this paper, we make two main contributions to deal with the problem. Firstly, a region-wise rendering framework, which divides the original image regions into three special classes and renders each with optimal adaptive process respectively, is introduced. Then, a novel sparse representation-based inpainting method, which can yield visually satisfactory results with less computational complexity for high quality 2D to 3D conversion, is proposed. Numerical experimental results demonstrate the good performance of the proposed methods.  相似文献

In stochastic programming models we always face the problem of how to represent the random variables. This is particularly difficult with multidimensional distributions. We present an algorithm that produces a discrete joint distribution consistent with specified values of the first four marginal moments and correlations. The joint distribution is constructed by decomposing the multivariate problem into univariate ones, and using an iterative procedure that combines simulation, Cholesky decomposition and various transformations to achieve the correct correlations without changing the marginal moments.With the algorithm, we can generate 1000 one-period scenarios for 12 random variables in 16 seconds, and for 20 random variables in 48 seconds, on a Pentium III machine.  相似文献

A new code construction algorithm for incoherent Multi-Dimensional Optical Code Division Multiple Access (MD-OCDMA) for asynchronous fiber optic communication is proposed. We refer multi-dimensionality to two-dimensional (2D) wavelength–time or space–time domains and three-dimensional (3D) space–wavelength–time domains. The application of the algorithm in constructing 2D multiple pulses per row codes and 3D multiple pulses per plane codes is given. The performance of the codes is discussed. In the applications discussed, this construction ensures a maximum crosscorrelation of 1 between any two codes. The proposed codes have complete 1D code allocation, which increases the cardinality. The performance of some codes in literature is compared with the proposed codes. The analyzed performance measure is bit error rate due to multiple access interference for different numbers of active users. The performance analysis shows that the proposed 2D construction offers very low bit error rate at lower spectral efficiency when compared with other 2D constructions. A comparison of the proposed 3D construction with existing 3D constructions shows lower bit error rate for equivalent code dimension. New integrated optic designs for the generation of OCDMA codes using titanium indiffused lithium niobate technology are explored, which can enable compact encoders and decoders for computer communications.  相似文献

Device-to-Device (D2D) com- munication has been proposed as a promising implementation of green communication to benefit the existed cellular network. In order to limit cross-tier interference while explore the gain of short-range communication, we devise a series of distributed power control (DPC) schemes for energy conservation (EC) and enhancement of radio resource utilization in the hybrid system. Firstly, a constrained opportunistic power control model is built up to take advantage of the interference avoidance methodology in the presence of service requirement and power constraint. Then, biasing scheme and admission control are added to evade ineffective power consumption and maintain the feasibility of the system. Upon feasibility, a non-cooperative game is further formulated to exploit the profit in EC with minor influence on spectral efficiency (SE). The convergence of the DPC schemes is validated and their performance is confirmed via simulation results.  相似文献

并联冗余是应用于风光互补独立供电系统的DC-DC变换器满足高可靠性要求的关键,而均流技术是并联冗余的关键,现有的均流方法无法同时满足并联冗余和蓄电池充电要求。本文在分析并联DC-DC模块蓄电池充电特性的基础上提出了一种实现并联DC-DC变换器瞬时均流的新控制方法。该方法基于平均电流法原理,通过单片机A/D口检测蓄电池充电电压和各并联DC-DC模块充电电流,判断蓄电池状态,自适应调整各模块PWM信号占空比实现均流和充电控制。文中根据理论模型进行了仿真,并构建实际系统进行了实验,仿真和实验结果表明,此方法能够同时满足DC-DC变换器并联冗余和蓄电池三段式充电的要求,验证了方法的有效性。  相似文献
