This paper addresses the development of a new algorithm forparameter estimation of ordinary differential equations. Here,we show that (1) the simultaneous approach combined with orthogonalcyclic reduction can be used to reduce the estimation problemto an optimization problem subject to a fixed number of equalityconstraints without the need for structural information to devisea stable embedding in the case of non-trivial dichotomy and(2) the Newton approximation of the Hessian information of theLagrangian function of the estimation problem should be usedin cases where hypothesized models are incorrect or only a limitedamount of sample data is available. A new algorithm is proposedwhich includes the use of the sequential quadratic programming(SQP) Gauss–Newton approximation but also encompassesthe SQP Newton approximation along with tests of when to usethis approximation. This composite approach relaxes the restrictionson the SQP Gauss–Newton approximation that the hypothesizedmodel should be correct and the sample data set large enough.This new algorithm has been tested on two standard problems.  相似文献

Summary A new graphitized carbon black, Carbograph 4, with a specific surface area of 240 m2 g−1 was studied in terms of enthalpy, entropy and free energy of adsorption, determined by gas chromatographic method on a series of alkanes (C2−C6) and on benzene. The changes in the isosteric heat and entropy of adsorption when a non-polar stationary phase (squalane) was added to the adsorbent were also investigated. The data obtained are discussed and compared to those present in the literature for other graphitized carbon blacks. Some examples of separations obtained with Carbograph 4 are reported.  相似文献

Summary Many estimating procedures are carried out with incomplete data by means of different types of EM algorithms. They allow us to obtain maximum likelihood parameter estimates in classical inference and also estimates based on the posterior mode in Bayesian inference. This paper analyzes in detail the spectral radii of the Jacobian matrices algorithm as a possible way to evaluate convergence rates. The eigenvalues of such matrices are explicitly obtained in some cases and, in all of them, a geometric convergence rate is, at least, guaranteed near the optimum. Finally, a comparison between the leading eigenvalues of EM and direct and approximate EM-Bayes algorithms may suggest the efficiency of each case.  相似文献

The sampling methodologies employed in Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy tend to distort to a degree the data obtained relative to that which would be obtained via transmittance. This distortion complicates data base searching. A standard sample of polystyrene was investigated using the techniques of transmittance, attenuated total reflectance (ATR), diffuse reflectance (DRIFT) and photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS). Several types of corrections are employed to minimize the distortions due to sampling methodologies.These corrections are evaluated with respect to four distinct search algorithms. The results obtained indicate that proper mathematical treatment of the data prior to data base searching enhances the discrimination value of a data base search.  相似文献

This paper describes progress towards developing a platform for rapid prototyping of interactive data visualizations, using R, GGobi, rggobi and RGtk2. GGobi is a software tool for multivariate interactive graphics. At the core of GGobi is a data pipeline that incrementally transforms data through a series of stages into a plot and maps user interaction with the plot back to the data. The GGobi pipeline is extensible and mutable at runtime. The rggobi package, an interface from the R language to GGobi, has been augmented with a low-level interface that supports the customization of interactive data visualizations through the extension and manipulation of the GGobi pipeline. The large size of the GGobi API has motivated the use of the RGtk2 code generation system to create the low-level interface between R and GGobi. The software is demonstrated through an application to interactive network visualization.  相似文献

In this paper, we formulate two classes of problems, the colored range query problems and the colored point enclosure query problems to model multi-dimensional range and point enclosure queries in the presence of categorical information. Many of these problems are difficult to solve using traditional data structural techniques. Based on a new framework of combining sketching techniques and traditional data structures, we obtain two sets of results in solving the problems approximately and efficiently. In addition, the framework can be employed to attack other related problems by finding the appropriate summary structures.  相似文献
