Improved experimental tracking techniques for validating discrete element method simulations of tumbling mills

We report on further developments in the three-dimensional tracking of a particle deep within the tumbling ball charge of an experimental mill. The experimental X-ray program employing the use of bi-planar X-ray angiography now includes the tracking of a typical 6 mm bulk charge particle in three dimensions with a spatial resolution that is accurate to within 0.15 mm. The improved experimental tracking techniques presented were developed for the purpose of generating accurate three-dimensional particle trajectory data against which to validate a numerical method for the simulation of discrete media, namely the discrete element method (DEM). These improvements are complimented with techniques for comparing charge profiles between numerical DEM simulations and three-dimensional experimental trajectory data.     

Pairwise Correlations in a Multicomponent Anisotropic Liquid

We investigate a multicomponent anisotropic liquid system. The first spatial moment of the direct correlation function is taken into account to obtain asymptotic expressions for the pairwise correlation functions. In this approximation, we obtain the pairwise correlation functions that describe the system behavior not only in the critical-state neighborhood but also in the noncritical domain. We show that the critical parameters for the anisotropic system differ from those for the isotropic system.     

Micromagnetic analysis of transition noise for high-density perpendicular recording

In this paper, specific issues related to high-density perpendicular magnetic recording processes, such as transition noise properties and cross-track correlation lengths, were investigated with the help of micromagnetic analysis. The effects of media parameters were taken into consideration, including intergranular exchange coupling, and exchange distribution, irregular grain shapes, magnetization saturation distribution, and anisotropy distribution. The micromagnetic simulation results showed that the effect of anisotropy distribution on transition noise is more significant than magnetization saturation distribution, and it is crucial to reduce this effect to achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio. Additionally, a new method to further estimate the partial erasure threshold was proposed to approximate the partial erasure effects, and the relation between the microtrack jitter and total track jitter was investigated.

一种基于稳健匹配准则的视频文本跟踪方法

本文首先根据文本中各个字符的颜色相似的特性,确定已知文本块的文本的颜色,利用文本的颜色信息二值化文本图像以得到文本块中的字符数、字符的尺寸和间距;其次,根据视频图像的大小和视频的播放速度确定搜索窗口的大小,并利用文本的运动信息来预测搜索窗口的位置;第三,根据在相邻两帧中具有相同内容文本的颜色相似的特性,提出了一个可以解决脉冲噪声和部分缺损或遮挡问题的稳健匹配准则来跟踪文本块;最后,确定跟踪输出的文本的颜色、尺寸和运动方式。本文方法可以很好地跟踪平移、缩小或放大、旋转、淡入淡出和部分被遮挡的水平或倾斜排列的文本,并且可以记录文本平移、旋转和缩放的速度。

基于扩散势能和自由体积的自扩散系数模型

在考虑自由体积和局部临界扩散势能的基础上,提出一种新的计算自扩散系数模型,并给出新模型中各个因子物理含义．同时还提出一种计算局部临界扩散势能的新方法,并应用于新模型．另外将衍生van der Waals状态方程应用于求解自由体积,式中所需径向分布函数由Morsali-Goharshadi方程得到．在相同条件下,新模型比原自由体积模型更准确．     

基于改善空间关联性的混沌控制

基于混沌信号的统计特性，提出了一种通过改善混沌信号的空间关联性实现混沌控制的方法.以Hénon离散混沌系统和四阶Chua's电路超混沌连续系统为例进行了数值研究，验证了这种控制方法的有效性.结果表明， 通过改善混沌信号之间的空间关联性， 混沌系统能以较快的速度收敛到它的平衡点或多种周期轨道. 关键词： 混沌控制 空间关联性 Hénon系统 四阶Chua's电路     

一种基于功率谱对数变换的联合变换相关器

联合功率谱的高频成份对相关峰识别具有重要作用,实验中记录的联合功率谱随着频率的增加其强度迅速降低。为增强联合功率谱的高频成分,改善其调制程度,可对功率谱进行对数变换,从而有效保留更多的高频成份,压低零级衍射光斑,提高联合变换相关器的识别能力。     

A new microtensile tester for the study of MEMS materials with the aid of atomic force microscopy

An apparatus has been designed and implemented to measure the elastic tensile properties (Young's modulus and tensile strength) of surface micromachined polysilicon specimens. The tensile specimens are “dog-bone” shaped ending in a large “paddle” for convenient electrostatic or, in the improved apparatus, ultraviolet (UV) light curable adhesive gripping deposited with electrostatically controlled manipulation. The typical test section of the specimens is 400 μm long with 2 μm×50 μm cross section. The new device supports a nanomechanics method developed in our laboratory to acquire surface topologies of deforming specimens by means of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to determine (fields of) strains via Digital Image Correlation (DIC). With this tool, high strength or non-linearly behaving materials can be tested under different environmental conditions by measuring the strains directly on the surface of the film with nanometer resolution.
