Einstein and Ehrenfest's radiation theory is modified in order to take into account the effects of the random zero-point fields, characteristic of classical stochastic electrodynamics, in a system of classical molecules interacting with thermal radiation. This is done by replacing the Einstein concept of random spontaneous emission by the concept of stimulated emission by the random zero-point fields. As a result, Compton and Debye's kinematic relations are obtained within the realm of a completely classical theory, that is, without having to consider the wave-particle duality for the molecules or the radiation. 相似文献

The kinetic model for diffusion-controlled intermolecular reaction of homogenous polymer under steady shear was theoretically studied. The classic formalism and the concept of conformation ellipsoids were integrated to get a new equation, which directly correlates the rate constant with shear rate. It was found that the rate constant is not monotonic with shear rate. The scale of rate constant is N^-1.5 (N is the length of chains), which is in consistent with de Gennes's result. 相似文献

Many chemical bonds of differing types and strengths have recently been regarded by Pearson[1] as representing partnerships between (Lewis) acids and (Lewis) bases. Most acceptor molecules or ions (acids) can be placed in one or other of two categories, graphically termed “Hard” and “Soft”. There are also two broad categories of donor molecules or ions (bases) which can also be termed Hard and Soft. On the whole, strong chemical bonds are partnerships between either a Hard base and a Hard acid or a Soft base and Soft acid, whereas weaker bond types most usually result in cases of either Hard base-Soft acid or Soft base-Hard acid interactions. The present paper shows how this concept of acidity and basicity can be applied in the interpretation of multi-center chemical reactions involving interconnected acid-base relationships. In particular, fourcenter substitutions and additions involving cooperative attack by nucleophiles and electrophiles at various chemical bonds have been examined, and a conclusion is reached that especially reactive patterns of reactants can be developed if the substrates contain bonds between either a hard acid and a soft base, or a soft acid and a hard base. Indeed, the arguments can be elaborated to provide two distinct Rules which should be of interest in the interpretation of metal-ion assisted reactions and in the design of novel syntheses. 相似文献

It is shown theorectically that the classical formula for calculating the theoretical plate number from squared first central moment, t , and second central moment, σ2, according to n theor = t /σ2 is valid only when the capacity ratio, k approaches infinity. The general relation between the classical experimental HETP value, H = L/nm theor, and the underlying true theoretical plate height, ΔL, is found to be when (σ′)2 is the total column contribution to band broadening, L is the column length, D m is the average diffusion coefficient of the sample component in the mobile phase, D s is its value in the stationary phase, and u is the average linear velocity of the mobile phase. The mobile phase displacement, as well as the mass exchange process, is assumed to be continuous, but the application of the plate concept conditions leads to a mass balance equation that can be interpreted as belonging to a modified discontinuous plate model. The contributions 2D m/u and k 2 D s/u from longitudinal sample diffusion in the mobile and stationary phases, respectively, are consistent with the assumption that the processes are statistically independent, although the common solution technique of the differential equations does not take full account of this independence. 相似文献

The endoplasmatic reticulum (ER) comprises flattened vesicles (cisternae) with worm holes dubbed with ribosomes coexisting with a network of interconnected tubes which can extend to the cell periphery or even penetrate nerve axons. The coexisting topologies enclose a continuous luminal space. The complex ER topology is specifically controlled by a group of ER-shaping proteins often called reticulons (discovered by the group of Tom Rapoport [1]). They include atlastin, reticulon, REEP and the MT severing protein spastin. A generic ER shape controlling factor is the necessity to maximize the area-to-volume ratio of ER membranes in the highly crowded cytoplasmic space. I present a model of the ER-shaping function of the reticulons based on the Helfrich bending elasticity concept of soft shell shape changes. Common structural motifs of the reticulons are hydrophobic sequences forming wedge shaped hairpins which penetrate the lipid bilayer of the cell membranes. The wedge-like hydrophobic anchors can both induce the high curvature of the tubular ER fraction and ensure the preferred distribution of the reticulons along the tubules. Tubular junctions may be stabilized by the reticulons forming two forceps twisted by 90°. The ER extensions to the cell periphery and the axons are mediated by coupling of the tubes to the microtubules which is mediated by REEP and spastin. At the end I present a model of the tension driven homotype fusion of ER-membranes by atlastin, based on analogies to the SNARE–complexin–SNARE driven heterotype fusion process. 相似文献

A new approach to anionic conduction is presented, and illustrated using already well-known anion conductors, as well as the recently discovered fast oxide-ion conductor La2Mo2O9. The so-called LPS (lone-pair substitution) concept could be used to seek for novel families of anion conductors, issued from already known compounds with lone-pair elements. It is based on the similarity in volume between an electronic lone pair and oxide or fluoride anions, and on the vacancy created by the replacement of a lone-pair by a non-lone-pair cation. A tentative list of the most appropriate substituting elements for given lone-pair cations is presented. 相似文献
