Smaller Output Beam Divergence in the Slowly Opened Q-Switch Operation

The mechanism of the slowly opened Q-switch operation was investigated thoroughly. Maximum energy extraction from the resonator could be optimized, and the smallest output beam divergence could be achieved. In this article, we present a detailed analysis that has numerically verified the mode-selection mechanism in the slowly opened Q-switch operation, and the degree of the smaller output laser beam divergence that has been achieved. The mechanism of the slowly opened Q-switch operation is the inherent advantage of the passive saturable absorber in this operation. We can use the maximum energy extraction and the smallest output beam divergence results of the slowly opened Q-switch operation to design and optimize various passive saturable absorbers: plastic dye sheets, LiF:F₂⁻ color center crystals, Cr4⁺: YAG crystals, RG1000 color glass filters, and the single crystal semiconductor saturable absorber wafers that are in developed in our microchip laser systems.

The Micro-Theory of Ultra-Short Pulse Propagating in Nonlinear Fiber

The modified quantum nonlinear Schrodinger equation of ultra-short pulse propagating in fiber is derived using dispersion relation and the Hamiltonian of the transmission system. The derived equation is solved with linearization approximation, and modulation instability is analyzed. The equation is also solved with Hartree approximation. The results indicate that pulse power, loss and self-steeping effect change the critical frequency, the maximum gain and the gain spectrum range, but the third order dispersion has no effect on modulation instability. The expectation value of optical field is average of a set of modified classical solitons, and higher order terms change the amplitude, pulse position and phase of soliton.     

脉冲离散效应对光纤中基于交叉相位调制的脉冲压缩的影响

通过数值模拟，分析了脉冲离散效应对单模光纤正群速色区基于暗孤子交叉不相位调制的脉冲压缩的影响，并提出了减轻这种影响的办法，作者发现，即使暗孤子与被压缩脉冲的中心波长相差很小，离散效应对脉冲压缩的影响也很大，离散效应不仅导致脉冲压缩比的减小和压缩后脉冲峰值功率的降低，而且还导致脉冲压缩所需最佳光纤长度的增加以及压缩后的脉冲呈现不对称性，还发现，若采取本文提出了的非同步耦合法，则可以明显地弥补离散效应     

频率受随机过程调制的体系中的光谱扩散

通过在Bloch方程中增加描述对频率微扰的随机过程项{ω(t)},我们讨论了系统在窄谱带的光激发后的光谱扩散。特别是以下两种情况:1)如果ω以相同的概率变化为系综中的任一ω’,光谱是一个指数式衰减的定域峰和指数式增长的动态非均匀背底的叠加。2)如果ω'到ω的概率仅与|ω’-ω|有关,非定域峰随时间变宽。作为一个例子,我们讨论了频率受多个独立随机电报过程调制的系统中的光谱扩散。     

载波钝化和钼酸盐后处理对不锈钢钝化膜性能的影响

一般认为交流电对金属的腐蚀过程具有加速作用,但我们发现,在直流电位基础上叠加适当波形、幅值和频率的交流电对不锈钢进行载波钝化,尔后再进行适当后处理可使钝化膜的稳定性提高,我们曾就不经后处理的载波钝化过程进行过探讨,本文着重探讨钼酸盐后处理对载波钝化膜表面状态和化学稳定性改善的作用机理。     

Electron kinetics of collision dominated r.f. bulk plasma in CO: The role of second-kind collisions

Electron energy distribution functions (EEDF) and related properties in the bulk region of the rf CO plasma at the reduced rf field frequency /p₀=×10⁷ sec^–1 torr^–1 have been calculated by solving the time-dependent spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation in the presence of second-kind collisions and have been interpreted on a microphysical basis. The results show that second-kind collisions (vibrational and electronic) strongly affect the temporal evolution of EEDF, of the mean energy, and of the mean collision frequencies for vibrational and electronic excitation processes, as well as for ionization. In particular, second-kind collisions in the CO rf bulk plasma strongly decrease the modulation of the mean ionization frequency during its periodical alteration in the rf field. Furthermore, the effect of second-kind collisions on an approximate determination of the time-averaged EEDF in the rf bulk plasma using the so-called effective-field appriximation has been estimated.     

Two-point AG codes from the Beelen-Montanucci maximal curve

In this paper we investigate two-point algebraic-geometry codes (AG codes) coming from the Beelen-Montanucci (BM) maximal curve. We study properties of certain two-point Weierstrass semigroups of the curve and use them for determining a lower bound on the minimum distance of such codes. AG codes with better parameters with respect to comparable two-point codes from the Garcia-Güneri-Stichtenoth (GGS) curve are discovered.
