Light ion fusion in deformation model

Experiments with heavy ions at moderate energies show the importance of deformation in heavy ion collisions. A deformation model which takes deformation dynamically into account is developed. Having described fusion and deep inelastic collision for a very heavy system (Xe + Bi) and a medium heavy system (Ar + Th) at various energies successfully, we turn to some comparatively lighter heavy ions where fusion is the most dominant feature. Fusion cross-sections for six pairs of lighter systems (³⁵Cl +¹¹⁶Sn,⁵⁸Ni+⁶²Ni,³⁵Cl+⁶²Ni,³²S+²⁴Mg,²⁴Mg+²⁴Mg and¹²C+²⁷Al) have been obtained using our deformation model which agree well with experiment. The two-slope-behaviour of fusion excitation function which is an important feature of light ion fusion systematics is also obtained, in our model calculations for all the systems studied.     

Bounds for complete elliptic integrals of the first kind

In this note by using some elementary computations we present some new sharp lower and upper bounds for the complete elliptic integrals of the first kind. These results improve some known bounds in the literature and are deduced from the well-known Wallis inequality, which has been studied extensively in the last 10 years.     

Peristaltic flow of viscoelastic fluid with fractional Maxwell model through a channel

The paper presents the transportation of viscoelastic fluid with fractional Maxwell model by peristalsis through a channel under long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations. The propagation of wall of channel is taken as sinusoidal wave propagation (contraction and relaxation). Homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and Adomian decomposition method (ADM) are used to obtain the analytical approximate solutions of the problem. The expressions of axial velocity, volume flow rate and pressure gradient are obtained. The effects of fractional parameters (α), relaxation time (λ₁) and amplitude (?) on the pressure difference and friction force across one wavelength are calculated numerically for different particular cases and depicted through graphs.     

The Dattoli-Srivastava conjectures concerning generating functions involving the harmonic numbers

In a recent paper Dattoli and Srivastava [3], by resorting to umbral calculus, conjectured several generating functions involving harmonic numbers. In this sequel to their work our aim is to rigorously demonstrate the truth of the Dattoli-Srivastava conjectures by making use of simple analytical arguments. In addition, one of these conjectures is stated and proved in more general form.
