Computed Potential Energy Surfaces and Minimum Energy Pathways for Chemical Reactions

Computed potential energy surfaces are often required for computation of such observables as rate constants as a function of temperature, product branching ratios, and other detailed properties. We have found that computation of the stationary points/reaction pathways using CASSCF/derivative methods, followed by use of the internally contracted CI method with the Dunning correlation consistent basis sets to obtain accurate energetics, gives useful results for a number of chemically important systems. Applications to complex reactions leading to NO_x and soot formation in hydrocarbon combustion are discussed.     

Influence of Urbach Energy,Temperature, and Longitudinal Position in the Active Layer on Carrier Diffusion Length in Perovskite Solar Cells

The diffusion length of charge carriers in the active layer of a perovskite solar cell (PSC) of the structure Glass/PEDOT: PSS/CH₃NH₃PbI₃/PC60BM/Al is modelled. It is found that the diffusion length depends on the position x in the active layer measured from the PEDOT: PSS interface, Urbach energy and temperature. By varying the voltage in the range from zero to , it is shown that the dependence of diffusion length on the position x in the active layer reduces at higher voltage. The combined influence of applied voltage and temperature on the diffusion length of charge carriers is investigated and it is found that in the low voltage range the diffusion length is temperature independent, but it becomes significantly temperature dependent at higher voltages. Also, it is found that the diffusion length decreases as the applied voltage increases and this reduction becomes much more significant at higher voltage and temperatures. The combined influence of applied voltage and Urbach energy on diffusion length of charge carriers reveals that the diffusion length decreases when both the applied voltage and Urbach energy increase. However, the reduction in the diffusion length due to the increase in Urbach energy becomes less significant at higher voltage.     

Chiroptical detection during liquid chromatography,part 5: On-line measurement of circular dichroism spectra Δε(λ) during stops of chromatographic flow

Summary A procedure is described which serves to measure circular dichrograms () on line during stops of flow in liquid chromatography. Since the concentration of substrate in the spectrometer cell during the stop is not known, the differential absorption coefficients are calculated from the experimental differential absorbances A by means of UV absorption (i. e. photomultiplier voltage) data. Verifications of the procedure are obtained by its application to three substrates (Table 1), the () spectra of which were known. The present on-line technique is compared with a corresponding off-line method.The N,N-dimethylthiobenzamides1 and2 as well as the 9,10-phenanthrenequinone7 consist of interconvertible enantiomers because their planar states are destabilized by steric overcrowding of groups. The unknown dichrograms () of1, 2 and7 are obtained (Figs. 2 and 4) and discussed with reference to the helicities of these molecules.In memory of the late Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. 顺磁性聚酯金属配合物的合成及其驰豫性能的研究

本文通过二乙三胺五乙酸（ＤＴＰＡ）或乙二胺四乙酸（ＥＤＴＡ）的双酸酐与二元醇或二元酚进行聚合反应，制备了两个系列共１５种新的聚酯型大分子配体及其顺磁性金属配合物，用核磁、红外光谱以及元素分析表征了配体和配合物的结构。初步试验结果表明，与相应的小分子金属配合物相比，聚酯金属配合物具有较高的弛豫性能。     

The participation of the anion and alkyl substituent of diaryliodonium salts in photo‐initiated cationic polymerization reactions

The photo‐initiated cationic polymerization (PCP) of epoxides using diaryliodonium salt photoacid generators (PAGs) bearing alkyl groups and anions was investigated. The properties and reactivities of a series of iodonium salts containing various cations and anions were compared in the context of a PCP reaction. The products from the decomposition of the cations of these salts were analyzed using gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (GC‐MS) spectra. The relationship between the molecular structure of the salts and their reaction mechanism in the PCP reaction was investigated. Based on the results of the investigation, it was concluded that the structures of the cations and anions of theiodonium salts affect the PCP reaction rate, which was controlled by the products from the diaryliodonium salts. As part of an additional investigation, the diaryliodonium salts‐epoxide materials were applied to 254 nm‐photo‐patterning. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Synthesis and structure of the 1,2-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose 3,5,6-bis-cyclophosphite complex with tungsten(0) pentacarbonyl

Metallocomplexes with optically active ligands are of considerable interest as catalysts of stereoselective processes. A complex of 1,2-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose 3,5,6-bis-cyclophosphite with tungsten(0) pentacarbonyl has been synthesized for the first time and studied by X-ray crystallography.     

LyP-1 peptide-functionalized gold nanoprisms for SERRS imaging and tumor growth suppressing by PTT induced-hyperthermia

The gold nanoprisms (GNPs) have exhibited special plasmonic properties for biomedical applications because of their unique shapes and dimensions. Based on their optical performance, the NIR dye IR780 not only enabled the GNPs-based nanosystem as SERRS nanoparticles for Raman-encoded molecular imaging, but also enhanced the plasmonic photothermal property by laser irradiation. Meanwhile, the GNPs/IR780-Lyp-1 by introduction of tumor-homing peptide segment LyP-1, which presents high affinity to p32 protein, demonstrated the increased enrichment in tumor region and enhanced photothermal therapy efficacy.     

STUDY ON 1-HEXENE POLYMERIZATION BASED ON ZIEGLER-NATTA CATALYSTS WITH DOPED SUPPORT

A series of Ti/Mg supported catalysts are prepared by using ball-milled mixtures of MgCl2-ethanol adducts and NaCl as supports, and 1-hexene polymerizations catalyzed by the novel catalysts are studied. It is found that the molecular weight distribution of poly(1-hexene) becomes apparently narrower when catalysts with doped supports are used, indicating that changing the structure of the support is an effective way to regulate the active center distribution of heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta catalyst.     

Effect of Thiourea on the Kinetics of the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction at Iron and the Transport of Hydrogen through a Steel Membrane in Solutions of C<Subscript>2</Subscript>H<Subscript>4</Subscript>(OH)<Subscript>2</Subscript>-H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O-HCl

The effect of thiourea (0.5–10 mM) on the kinetics of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) at iron and the hydrogen transport through a steel membrane out of ethylene glycol (containing 2 and 10 wt % H₂O) and aqueous solutions containing HCl (0.1–0.99 M) with a constant ionic strength equal to unity is studied in parallel experiments. The presence of 0.5 mM of thiourea in the solutions raises the overvoltage of hydrogen evolution, while a subsequent increase in its concentration does not effect the HER kinetics. The dependence of the flux of hydrogen diffusion through the membrane on the thiourea content passes through a maximum.
