In this paper, numerical simulation of three-dimensional supersonic flow in a duct is presented. The flow field in the duct is complex and can find its applications in the inlet of air-breathing engines. A unique streamwise marching Lagrangian method is employed for solving the steady Euler equations. The method was first initiated by Loh and Hui (1990) for 2-D steady supersonic flow computations and then extended to 3-D computation by the present authors Loh and Liou (1992). The new scheme is shown to be capable of accurately resolving complicated shock or contact discontinuities and their interactions. In all the computations, a free stream of Mach numberM=4 is considered. This article was processed using Springer-Verlag TEX Shock Waves macro package 1.0 and the AMS fonts, developed by the American Mathematical Society.  相似文献

We perform an analysis of the pattern formation for a moving sheet of inviscid fluid. The sheet, which is assumed to have an infinite horizontal extent, moves at some prescribed velocity into a passive surrounding gas. The sheet’s thickness is assumed much smaller than the horizontal scale of the fluid motion. By considering a system that is symmetric with respect to the horizontal planes, long scale asymptotics are used to reduce the full governing equations in three dimensions to a set of three coupled nonlinear partial differential equations for the horizontal components of the velocity field and the height of the interface profile. The interfacial conditions consisting of the kinematic and normal stress balance are incorporated into these evolution equations. Investigations are carried out as function of the sole dimensionless parameter, namely the Weber number. A small amplitude stability analysis around the planar gas–liquid interface reveals that wave patterns in the form of traveling plane waves occur subcritically, and are therefore unstable. The reduced evolution equations are solved numerically for fixed values of the Weber number. Since the reduced system of equations is homogeneous, the wave motion is generated by initial conditions. Five initial conditions have been imposed: one-dimensional rolls, two-dimensional squares, two-dimensional hexagons, two-dimensional ridges, and smooth peaks. The ensuing evolution of the liquid sheet’s shape and corresponding flow fields are described by illustrations of the changes in the sheet’s morphology with time.  相似文献

Submillimeter laser-Stark spectra have been observed for the isotopic species of methyl fluoride,13CH3F, using the 337 m line of the HCN laser. We have identified the multiplet transitions as JK=18K17K in the ground vibrational state. Ten distinct families with K=8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 have been observed. Zero-field frequencies for all the transitions are given and in most cases with better accuracy than predicted from the previous constants.  相似文献

This paper deals with approximate and exact controllability of the wave equation in finite time with interior point control acting along a curve specified in advance in the system's spatial domain. The structure of the control input is dual to the structure of the observations which describe the measurements of velocity and gradient of the solution of the dual system, obtained from the moving point sensor. A relevant formalization of such a control problem is discussed, based on transposition. For any given timeinterval [0,T] the existence of the curves providing approximate controllability inH D –[n/2]–1 ()×H D –[n/2]–1 () (wheren stands for the space dimension) is established with controls fromL 2(0,T; R n +1). The same curves ensure exact controllability inL 2() × H–1() if controls are allowed to be selected in [L (0,T; R n+1)]. Required curves can be constructed to be continuous on [0,T).This work was supported in part by NSF Grant ECS 89-13773 and NASA Grant NAG-1-1081.  相似文献

We study perturbations of the quantized version 0 of integrable Hamiltonian systems by point interactions. We relate the eigenvalues of to the zeros of a certain meromorphic function . Assuming the eigenvalues of 0 are Poisson distributed, we get detailed information on the joint distribution of the zeros of and give bounds on the probability density for the spacings of eigenvalues of . Our results confirm the wave chaos phenomenon, as different from the quantum chaos phenomenon predicted by random matrix theory.SFB 237 Essen-Bochum-Düsseldorf  相似文献

The traveling wave ultrasonic stator is normally fabricated with teeth. The tooth geometry improves the driving speed, but it creates natural frequency splitting and mode contamination, especially a distorted traveling wave. A dynamic model of a stepped-plate periodic stator is developed to examine the distortion. The stator is treated as an annular supported by a thin mid plate, and the support stiffness is formulated by using equivalent energy principle. The effects of the tooth and mid plate on the natural frequency and vibration mode are examined by using the perturbation method. The rules governing the frequency splitting, frequency perturbation as well as mode contamination are also identified. The traveling wave response and elliptical trace on stator surface are obtained by using the mode superposition method and they are proved to be distorted due to the tooth geometry. The response at the repeated doublets becomes coupled forward and backward traveling waves, but that at the split doublets becomes coupled forward traveling, standing and backward traveling waves. The results indicate that the tooth mass instead of the stiffness decreases the vibration amplitude and driving speed of the dominant wave, but their effects are different at the repeated and split doublets. Inspection of the model implies that the distortion can be suppressed by using a suitable combination of the wavenumber, tooth count, tooth height and occupying fraction. Numerical calculations are carried out to demonstrate the tooth geometry effect on the transient waveform, driving speed and elliptical trace. The optimization of the tooth geometry that can help achieve a purer traveling wave is discussed.  相似文献

We study the average energy – or particle – density of waves inside disordered 1D multiply-scattering media. We extend the transfer-matrix technique that was used in the past for the calculation of the intensity beyond the sample to study the intensity in the interior of the sample by considering the transfer matrices of the two segments that form the entire waveguide. The statistical properties of the two disordered segments are found using a maximum-entropy ansatz subject to appropriate constraints. The theoretical expressions are shown to be in excellent agreement with 1D transfer-matrix simulations.  相似文献

Mechanical problems involving an interphase between two well-defined, and eventually different, materials are of interest. The aim of this paper is to present a simplified model that, for low frequency regime, is appropriate for this situation: an interface model with elastic and inertial properties. We present, together with the equations of motion, an identification procedure that is valid for any mass density profile along the thickness of the interphase. For evaluating the accuracy of the model, computations of the reflection coefficients in some relevant cases are shown. Besides, a finite element method is used as a benchmark for both the high and low frequency regimes. It is worth to be noted that the numerical test has been inspired by the problem of the interphase that is formed at the bone-implant boundary.  相似文献

We discuss the dynamics of parton cascades that develop in dense QCD matter, and contrast their properties with those of similar cascades of gluon radiation in vacuum. We argue that such cascades belong to two distinct classes that are characterized respectively by an increasing or a constant (or decreasing) branching rate along the cascade. In the former class, of which the BDMPS, medium-induced, cascade constitutes a typical example, it takes a finite time to transport a finite amount of energy to very soft quanta, while this time is essentially infinite in the latter case, to which the DGLAP cascade belongs. The medium induced cascade is accompanied by a constant flow of energy towards arbitrary soft modes, leading eventually to the accumulation of the initial energy of the leading particle at zero energy. It also exhibits scaling properties akin to wave turbulence. These properties do not show up in the cascade that develops in vacuum. There, the energy accumulates in the spectrum at smaller and smaller energy as the cascade develops, but the energy never flows all the way down to zero energy. Our analysis suggests that the way the energy is shared among the offsprings of a splitting gluon has little impact on the qualitative properties of the cascades, provided the kernel that governs the splittings is not too singular.  相似文献
