Sunscreen agents and in particular UV filters are compounds added in different cosmetic formulations, that has the function of preventing damage caused by sun exposition. Therefore, this paper proposes the development of a simple, fast and reliable electroanalytical method utilizing square wave voltammetry (SWV) to the determination of Benzophenone‐3 (BZ‐3), camphor 4‐methylbenzylidene (MBC) and 2‐ethylhexyl‐4‐methoxycinnamate (OMC) in cosmetic samples. The electrochemical system consisted of a cell with three electrodes: work – gold electrode modified, reference – Ag/AgCl(sat) and auxiliary – platinum, using as supporting electrolyte 4.0 mL of Britton Robinson Buffer 0.04 mol L?1 (pH=4.0), 1.0 mL of methanol and 5.50×10?4 mol L?1 of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The method was validated using three commercial sunscreen samples and the results showed recovery values between 83 and 98 %. The average values found for the analysed samples were 3.49 % m/m (728 mg L?1) to BZ‐3, 0.56 % m/m (113 mg L?1) to MBC and 0.99 % m/m (208 mg L?1) to OMC. The detection (DL) and quantification (QL) limits were 0.47 mg L?1 and 1.56 mg L?1 to BZ‐3, 0.77 mg L?1 and 2.58 mg L?1 to MBC and 0.78 mg L?1 and 2.59 mg L?1 to OMC, respectively. The sunscreen protector samples were also evaluated by high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) demonstrating a good correlation between the results and compared the results with allowed concentration.  相似文献

A butyl rubber derivative that can be cured upon exposure to UV light in the absence of additional chemical additives was developed. This polymer was prepared by the reaction of hydroxyl-functionalized butyl rubber with cinnamoyl chloride to provide a cinnamate functionalized rubber. The cinnamate content was varied by starting with derivatives prepared from butyl rubber containing either 2 or 7 mol% isoprene. The kinetics of the cross-linking was studied by UV–visible spectroscopy and it was found to vary according to the film thickness. The changes in gel content and volume swelling ratio with irradiation time were dependent on the cinnamate content. Toxicity studies suggested that the cross-linked materials do not leach toxic molecules. The approach was also applied to obtain cross-linked films of butyl rubber-poly(ethylene oxide) graft copolymers, leading to surfaces that resisted the adhesion and growth of cells. Thus the approach is versatile and is of particular interest when non-leaching coatings of cross-linked butyl rubber are desired for biomedical or other applications.  相似文献

Zn‐Al‐salicylic nanohybrid layers have been prepared and used as fillers for polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Nanohybrid layers of a broad absorption area in UV region were completely and uniformly dispersed in a continuous polymer matrix. PVA and PVA nanohybrid composite (NHC) films were exposed to UV irradiation. Thermal properties (diffusivity, effusivity, and conductivity) of both have been measured through photoacoustic technique before and after UV irradiation. Thermal parameters of PVA suffered from a quick deterioration with UV exposure due to reduction of the phonon mean free path as a result of molecular chain scissions. However, significant stability in such parameters of NHC has been obtained under the influence of UV irradiation. This thermal properties stability may be an important step on the way of obtaining photostable polymer NHC. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A reddish‐brown fluoroalkyl end‐capped 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) oligomer/acetone composite was prepared by heating the white oligomer powder with acetone at 80 °C for 3 h. The color was not observed in the corresponding non‐fluorinated AMPS oligomer/acetone composite, which was prepared under similar conditions. The coloring was probably caused by the formation of acetone polyaldol condensation products in the fluorinated oligomeric gel network cores. The colored RF‐(AMPS)n‐RF/acetone composite powders were stable and did not exhibit any color change after 2 years in natural light at room temperature. The colored composite powders dissolved in methanol to give a reddish‐brown solution at room temperature. However, the retro‐polyaldol condensation decolored the solution after 1 day at room temperature. This is the first example of the retro‐aldol polycondensation of acetone under mild conditions. The decoloration increased by between 38‐ and 70‐fold under UV irradiation, compared with that in dark conditions. The coloring–decoloring behavior was consistent and repeatable; therefore our fluorinated oligomer/acetone composites are promising candidates for new fluorinated coloring materials. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An array of highly fluorinated polymerizable phosphonium salts (HFPPS) were synthesized from PH3 and utilized in UV‐curable formulations. Inclusion of these salts at very low loading (0.1–1 wt %) into hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA) resulted in hydrophobic surfaces. The water repellency was achieved with short C4F9 fluorocarbon appendages in the monomer as opposed to the bioaccumulative C8F17 appended polymers. The physical properties of these new monomers were also characterized. The molecular architecture of the monomers had a pronounced effect on both their physical properties along with the degree of hydrophobicity imparted in the polymer. Salts utilizing the bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anion displayed excellent compatibility with HDDA, while the chloride salts were insoluble. Time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF‐SIMS) confirmed the presence of the HFPPS at the surface of the polymer coating. For the first time this demonstrates how these salts may be used to functionalize the surface of a UV‐cured film with ionic species. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Phosphatidylethanolamines (PE) are one of the major components of cells membranes, namely in skin and in retina, that are continuously exposed to solar UV radiation being major targets of photooxidation damage. In addition, due to the presence of the free amine group, PE can also undergo glycation, in hyperglycemic conditions which may increase the susceptibility to oxidation. The aim of this study is to develop a model, based on mass spectrometry (MS) analysis, to identify photooxidative degradation of selected PE (POPE: PE 16:0/18:1, PLPE: PE 16:0/18:2, PAPE: PE 16:0/20:4) and glycated PEs due to UV irradiation. Photooxidation products were analysed by electrospray ionization MS (ESI‐MS) and tandem MS (ESI‐MS/MS) in positive and negative mode. Emphasis is placed in the influence of glycation in the generation of distinct photooxidation products. ESI‐MS spectra of PE after UV photo‐irradiation showed mainly hydroperoxy derivatives, due to oxidation of unsaturated fatty acyl chains. Glycated PE gave rise to several new photooxidation products formed due to oxidative cleavages of the glucose moiety, namely between C1 and C2, C2 and C3, and C5 and C6 of this sugar unit. These new products were identified by ESI‐MS/MS in positive mode showing distinct neutral loss depending on the different structure of the polar head group. These new identified advanced glycated photooxidation products may have a deleterious role in the etiology of diabetic retinopathy and in diabetic retinal microvascular complications. A continuous‐flow, on‐line sample pretreatment technique using a silica gel microsyringe extractor has been developed. All steps including extraction, separation, clean‐up, and concentration occur in the microsyringe. The overall sample pretreatment process takes <10 min per sample. Different polarity chemicals in the plant sample are successively extracted and separated, and analyzed in parallel using HPLC–UV and HPLC–UV–MS/MS. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, alkylphenols, and plant hormones were determined as model compounds for nonpolar, intermediate polarity, and polar fractions, respectively. All the parameters that influence the extraction and separation efficiency of the microsyringe extractor have been optimized and evaluated. Under the optimized conditions, recoveries of target compounds ranged from 78.4 to 101.9%, the RSD was <12.8% and the square of the correlation coefficient was >0.99. Complex plant samples of Sambucus Mandshurica Kitag have been tested using this method. Fluorene, phenanthrene, pyrene, and plant hormones were detected in all the samples, and concentrations ranged from 24.2–34.9, 43.8–67.1, 25.9–29.2, and 14.5~110.8 ng/g, respectively.  相似文献

Four new water‐soluble polyglycerol‐dendronized perylene, terrylene, and quaterrylene bisimides have been synthesized and characterized with respect to their optical properties in polar organic solvents and water by using UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. All of these dyes were highly soluble in water, but the size of the chosen polyglycerol dendron was only sufficient to completely suppress dye aggregation for the core‐unsubstituted perylene derivative. Their high solubility in water and their absorption and emission wavelengths up to the NIR region make the core‐unsubstituted perylene and terrylene bisimides ideal candidates for applications in bioimaging, whilst the lack of fluorescence for quaterrylene bisimide in all polar solvents does not warrant further investigation of this chromophore in fluorescence and imaging applications. Likewise, tuning of the emission of rylene bisimides towards longer wavelengths by employing electron‐donating bay substituents is not a promising strategy, owing to the lower fluorescence quantum yields in polar solvents and, in particular, in water.  相似文献

The optical absorption properties of (poly)aromatic hydrocarbons occluded in a nanoporous environment were investigated by theoretical and experimental methods. The carbonaceous species are an essential part of a working catalyst for the methanol‐to‐olefins (MTO) process. In situ UV/Vis microscopy measurements on methanol conversion over the acidic solid catalysts H‐SAPO‐34 and H‐SSZ‐13 revealed the growth of various broad absorption bands around 400, 480, and 580 nm. The cationic nature of the involved species was determined by interaction of ammonia with the methanol‐treated samples. To determine which organic species contribute to the various bands, a systematic series of aromatics was analyzed by means of time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations. Static gas‐phase simulations revealed the influence of structurally different hydrocarbons on the absorption spectra, whereas the influence of the zeolitic framework was examined by using supramolecular models within a quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics framework. To fully understand the origin of the main absorption peaks, a molecular dynamics (MD) study on the organic species trapped in the inorganic host was essential. During such simulation the flexibility is fully taken into account and the effect on the UV/Vis spectra is determined by performing TDDFT calculations on various snapshots of the MD run. This procedure allows an energy absorption scale to be provided and the various absorption bands determined from in situ UV/Vis spectra to be assigned to structurally different species.  相似文献

The results presented here highlight the extremely useful nature of ultra‐short peptides as building blocks in the development of smart multicomponent supramolecular devices. A facile bottom‐up strategy for the synthesis of a small library of stimuli‐responsive smart organogelators has been proposed based on the predictive self‐assembly of ultra‐short peptides. More importantly, the narcissistic self‐sorting of the gelators has been evaluated as a simple method for the efficient co‐assembly of a donor–acceptor dual‐component gel, allowing the investigation of possible future applications of similar systems in the development of a supramolecular photo‐conversion device. Interestingly, it was observed that the self‐organization of the components can lead to highly ordered systems in which discrimination between compatible and non‐compatible building blocks directs the effective organization of the chromophores and gives rise to the formation of an excited‐state complex with exciplex‐like emission. The current report may prove important in the development of organogel‐based multicomponent smart devices.  相似文献
