One of the central problems in the theory of ordered sets is to describe the orientations of the covering graph of an ordered set. We show that the particular operation called inversion, together with the classical constructions of retraction and product, provide a context for the classification of all such orientations. Identifying potential binding modes and explaining partitioning behavior using flexible alignments and multidimensional scaling

A method is described for the rapid and automatic analysis of flexible molecular alignments using multidimensional scaling and a normalized scoring scheme. A projection scheme was devised to separate orientational and conformational effects. It is shown that the approach can be utilized for the identification of common binding orientations or to the study of differences in partioning behavior. It is suggested that the method can be employed as a novel approach exploring molecular similarity as a dynamic property, so that it includes aspects of motion (by way of mutual orientations), conformations and molecular properties.     

透射电镜薄样品倾转过程中的附加旋转及其计算

模拟透射电镜双倾台进行样品位向调整过程,推导出反映样品倾转前后其合成倾转轴(即共有菊池线对的法线)方向变化规律的计算公式,称为附加旋转角计算公式。指出,实现样品位向调整的双倾操作,等效于样品绕其合成倾转轴的倾转及该倾转轴绕Z轴(平行入射束方向)的旋转之和。利用双倾台对薄膜样品进行的系列倾转实验表明,由附加旋转角公式计算的附加旋转角和实测值相一致。还根据双倾操作过程导出了合成倾转角的计算公式,它可用于判断样品位向调整的准确度。     

Do intramolecular halogen bonds exist? Ab initio calculations and crystal structures’ evidences

Cl···O intramolecular contacts are analysed here. Hence the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) search was performed to find five-membered Cl–C=C–C=O pseudo-rings closed through Cl···O intramolecular contacts. Such rings were analysed and it was found that some of Cl···O distances are smaller than the corresponding sum of van der Waals radii. Additionally ab initio MP2/6-311++G(d,p) calculations and AIM analyses were carried out here on 3-chloropropenal and its fluoro derivatives to deepen the nature of intramolecular Cl···O interactions, some of findings may indicate that they are attractive and stabilizing ones. EFFECT OF HOT STRETCHING ON THE STRUCTURE OF POLYIMIDE FROM 1,4--BIS (3'''', 4''''--DICARBOXYPHENOXY) BENZENE AND 4,4''''-OXYDIANILINE

The structure of polyimide from 1,4-bis (3', 4'-dicarboxyphenoxy) benzene and 4,4'-oxydianiline film specimens before and after hot stretching has been investigated by WAXD, DSC and FTIR. As evidenced by both the WAXD and DSC results, it could be believed that strain induced crystallization did take place after hot stretching. Meanwhile, shifting position and splitting of some band peaks existed on the FTIR spectrograms were explained in terms of the close packing of chains and the changes of inter-molecular charge-transfer interaction between imide groups and aromatic groups upon crystallization.     

碱性介质中高择优取向（220）镍电极上丙醇的电氧化

Quality evaluation of fingerprints of herbal medicine with chromatographic data

In this study, local least squares (LLS) and principal component analysis (PCA) were applied to deal with the disturbances in a data set of chromatographic fingerprints after necessary data transformations. It has been demonstrated that PCA with standard normal variate (SNV) transformation of data led to meaningful classification of 33 different Erigeron breviscapus herbal samples. The result was also corroborated by variance squares discriminant method. The quality of herbal objects was further evaluated, and the causes of this fact have been explained from a chemical point of view. At the same time, it implied an idea for qualitative evaluation of the herbal objects with a common class pattern of chromatographic fingerprints.     

Determination of molecular orientation distribution of a stable paramagnetic probe in oriented 4-cyano-4’-<Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis>-pentylbiphenyl

The molecular orientation distribution function of a stable radical 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl in magnetic-field oriented 4-cyano-4’-n-pentylbiphenyl was determined from the angular dependence of the ESR spectra. The preferred molecular orientation of radical species in the liquid crystal matrix was determined.
