A finite element study is conducted to determine the thermal response of a widely used glass reinforced plastic panel exposed to fire. This study is performed based on a formulation developed previously by the authors and improved by including the moisture and temperature-dependent thermal properties and a newly developed time-dependent non-linear mixed boundary condition at the unexposed surface of the panel. In addition, the influence of non-zero final resin mass is considered according to a recently performed thermal gravimetric analysis. In order to derive the appropriate element equations, a mixed explicit–implicit Bubnov–Galerkin finite element approach is adopted. Results of this study are presented for a standard, 10.9 mm, thickness of single-skinned polyester-based glass reinforced plastic panel and comprise temperature profiles, density distributions and moisture profiles. Comparisons are made between the predicted results and those obtained experimentally. The predicted temperatures agreed with the experimental results with an average difference of 21.41°C. A simple comparison of the present value with that of the authors’ previous model, 29.66°C, indicates a considerable improvement of 38.53% in the fire-performance prediction of the material.  相似文献

About a decade after its foundation, the most advanced ballistics laboratory in Germany at the time, the Kruppsche Schiessplatz, was utilized by Ernst Mach in 1888. His intent was to validate his pioneering shock wave research using military shells as supersonic vehicles. The 125th anniversary of the Schiessplatz was celebrated in 2002. Along with Machs research, it served to initiate the field of supersonic transportation technology. The specific subject of this paper is the application of point-source spark shadowgraphy at the same laboratory in the 1970s to visualize gas flow over aeroballistic projectiles. However, different from Machs original interest, the new purpose of spark photography at that time in the ballistic ranges of the German Bundeswehr was to find technical solutions to aeroballistic problems when field-testing gave incomplete answers. 传统的试验仪器和方法仅能测试岩石破坏前的渗透系数,文中介绍了一种自行设计并已获国家专利的破碎岩石压实渗透仪,依靠其与MTS815.02岩石力学伺服系统连接匹配。利用MTS的两套闭环系统施加轴压和孔压,可测试压力作用下岩石破碎后的渗透系数,对破碎砂岩进行高压下的渗透测试进一步说明该方法的可行性。利用该方法得出的测试结果。对破碎岩体中渗流问题研究及灾害防治具有参考价值。  相似文献

颈部疼痛和运动障碍是人类的常见病症。不管起因如何,受伤和退化将使颈椎的力学性能发生变化。由于颈椎的生理结构复杂。描述其在三维坐标系的运动状态需要3个平移参数和3个转角参数。为此,我们在颈椎运动力学性能研究时做如下的力学模型简化;把人体的胸部和头部看成是两个刚体,它们之间仅由颈椎相连,当人体的胸部被固定时,头部做曲伸,旋转,侧弯运动,简化为头部绕第一胸椎(T1)的转动。为实现这一运动,我们研制了一套专用的测试装置。测试者接受的是被动测试,头部的旋转是由扭力扳手产生的,当扭力扳手对某轴施加一力偶时,就向被试者头部传递了一力矩T,而此力矩可通过安装在扭力扳后上的力传感器将信号传递到应变仪上测出;头部在这力矩作用下的转角θ则由安装于测试装置上的转角指示器显示,我们分别对四位受试者进行了测试,得到了对应的T-θ曲线图。测试表明,尽管受试个体间存在着特异性,但也能找到一些明显的规律。例如每个受试者颈椎旋转的运动角度要大于其它的几种运动。  相似文献

Thin films at the micrometer and submicrometer scales exhibit mechanical properties that are different than those of bulk polycrystals. Industrial application of these materials requires accurate mechanical characterization. Also, a fundamental understanding of the deformation processes at smaller length scales is required to exploit the size and interface effects to develop new and technologically attractive materials. Specimen fabrication, small-scale force and displacement generation, and high resolution in the measurements are generic challenges in microscale and nanoscale mechanical testing. In this paper, we review small-scale materials testing techniques with special focus on the application of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Small size and high force and displacement resolution make MEMS suitable for small-scale mechanical testing. We discuss the development of tensile and bending testing techniques using MEMS, along with the experimental results on nanoscale aluminum specimens.  相似文献

We consider diffraction by a semi-infinite crack located alonga fusion interface between two differing elastic media. Twotypes of crack, namely open and partially closed cracks, areinvestigated. An open crack is modelled by a stress-free contactboundary condition and a partially closed crack is modelledby a spring contact boundary condition. For the latter, thejump in the stress across the crack is assumed to be proportionalto the jump in the displacement across the crack. This situationarises in, for example, a K-weld where the fine grain of theparent material (for example, ferritic or forged austeniticsteel) is in stark contrast with the coarse-grained weld metal(for example, austenitic weld metal). In the metal weld thedirection of the grain axis varies through the metal. However,diffraction is a local phenomenon and so the austenitic steelis assumed to have a zonal axis so that it may be modelled bya transversely isotropic composite. The ferritic or forged austeniticsteel will be modelled as an isotropic material.  相似文献
