The use of the Internet, and especially social media networks, is becoming increasingly relevant for 21st century politics, not only for political campaigning purposes, but also as a platform to encourage the public to engage in political discourse. This study considers comments posted on two South African political party Facebook sites: the African National Congress’ (ANC); and the Democratic Alliance’s (DA). It examines how both the South African public and the political parties are using the site for discussion, debate and opinion formation. The study also investigates the perceived benefits and challenges that are offered to members of the Facebook groups. According to the findings, the public are using the Facebook site(s) to engage in discussion of a political nature as well as using the platform to connect with each other and share political information in new ways. However, it is this article’s contention that the two political parties are not fully capitalising on the potential offered by Facebook. 相似文献

Research scrutinizing political talk online has been developed largely against the backdrop of deliberative discursive norms and considered political talk without a systematic analysis of surrounding mass‐mediated discourses. By contrast, this study operationalizes counterpublic theory as an alternative theoretical perspective and analyzes comments on news websites as a reaction to hegemonic mainstream public spheres. It juxtaposes a qualitative framing analysis of all articles about a new anti‐Euro party in devotedly pro‐European Germany published on 9 news websites in the week following the 2013 elections (n = 22) with a content analysis of all comments posted below these articles (n = 3,154). It finds counterpublic spheres differently shaped in comment sections of right‐ and left‐leaning, and tabloid and nontabloid, outlets. Consequences for democracy are discussed. 相似文献

Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) enable cooperative behaviors in vehicular environments and are seen as an integral component of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). The security of VANETs is crucial for their successful deployment and widespread adoption. A critical aspect of preserving the security and privacy of VANETs is the efficient revocation of the ability of misbehaving or malicious vehicles to participate in the network. This is usually achieved by revoking the validity of the digital certificates of the offending nodes and by maintaining and distributing an accurate Certificate Revocation List (CRL). The immediate revocation of misbehaving vehicles is of prime importance for the safety of other vehicles and users. In this paper, we present a decentralized revocation approach based on Shamir’s secret sharing to revoke misbehaving vehicles with very low delays. Besides enhancing VANETs’ security, our proposed protocol limits the size of the revocation list to the number of the revoked vehicles. Consequently, the authentication process is more efficient, and the communication overhead is reduced. We experimentally evaluate our protocol to demonstrate that it provides a reliable solution to the scalability, efficiency and security of VANETs. 相似文献

Through cryptanalysis of the improved scheme of a generalized group-oriented threshold signcryption schemes, it is found that the improved scheme can effectively resist conspiracy attack and forgery attack, but does not have semantic security and public verification function, and sends threshold signcryption by the secret secure channel, which increases the communication costs and potential safety hazards of the system. Post-industrialism and Silicon Valley as models of industrial governance in Australian public policy
Since the 1970s, the Australian government has seen the information and communication technology industry as a viable industry for promotion and investment. This paper will argue that two recent important policy initiatives that concern the information and communication technology industry are influenced by the idea of an impending post-industrial economy and observations of the business environment of Silicon Valley. It will firstly discuss a policy initiative towards investment funding through the creation of ‘incubators’ that is informed by early-age liability theories of organisation. It will secondly discuss the policy initiative towards replicating the business environment of Silicon Valley through the creation of technology parks that is informed by the paradigm of locational economics. It will be shown that despite the positive contributions to the economy that policy interventions in the information and communication technology industry has had, the replication of the business environment of Silicon Valley in Australia should be attempted with caution. 相似文献
