The density functional theory (DFT) calculations of structural, elastic, electronic and optical properties of the cubic antiperovskite AsNMg3 has been reported using the pseudo-potential plane wave method (PP-PW) within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The equilibrium lattice, bulk modulus and its pressure derivative have been determined. The elastic constants and their pressure dependence are calculated using the static finite strain technique. We derived the bulk and shear moduli, Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio for ideal polycrystalline AsNMg3 aggregate. We estimated the Debye temperature of AsNMg3 from the average sound velocity. This is the first quantitative theoretical prediction of the elastic properties of AsNMg3 compound, and it still awaits experimental confirmation. Band structure, density of states and pressure coefficients of energy gaps are also given. The fundamental band gap (Γ-Γ) initially increases up to 4 GPa and then decreases as a function of pressure. Furthermore, the dielectric function, optical reflectivity, refractive index, extinction coefficient, and electron energy loss are calculated for radiation up to 30 eV. The all results are compared with the available theoretical and experimental data.  相似文献

Mn-doped ZnO is anti-ferromagnetic spin glass state, however, it becomes half-metallic ferromagnets upon hole doping. In this Letter we report a theoretical study of (Zn, Mn)O system codoped with N, and show that this codoping can change the ground state from anti-ferromagnetic to ferromagnetic. We have carried out the first-principles electronic structure calculations and report total energy to estimate whether the ferromagnetic state was stable or not. Our approach is based on the spin-polarized relativistic Korringa–Kohn–Rostoker (SPR–KKR) density functional theoretical (DFT) method, within the coherent potential approximation (CPA). Self-consistent electronic structure calculations were performed within the local density approximation, using the Vosko–Wilk–Nusair parameterization of the exchange-correlation energy functional. Our results for energy difference between ferromagnetic sate and spin glass state as well as their dependence on concentrations were presented and discussed.  相似文献

RPdIn (R = La-Nd) compounds were studied by means of magnetic susceptibility, specific heat and photoelectron spectroscopy measurements. The results prove that CePdIn is an antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice with TN below 1.7 K. The Pr-based indide remains paramagnetic down to 1.7 K, and the lack of any magnetic ordering may be due to the presence of a singlet as the crystalline electric field ground state or/and strong hybridization between Pr 4f states and Pd 4d states. In turn, NdPdIn exhibits ferromagnetism below about 26 K. In contrast to CePdIn, for the Pr- and Nd-based compounds any significant enhancement of the electronic specific heat coefficient was observed.  相似文献

The full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method with the GGA+U approach was applied to study the electronic structures of the compound Eu6C60. Present calculations show that the hybridization between the Eu s, d state and the C60 π states plays an essential role in its FM exchange interactions between the 4f electrons and metallic properties.  相似文献

Based on the hexagonal BN structure, six possible layered B~ CN structures are constructed. Their total energies, lattice constants as well as electronic properties are calculated using the ab initio pseudopotential density functional method within the local density approximation. The calculated results show that the B2 CN-V configuration with AA stacking sequence is the most stable among the six B2CN layered structures. The characteristics of electronic structures indicate that the B2 CN-V shows metallicity, which mainly comes from -B1-C-B1-C- chains.  相似文献

We have preformed systematical ab initio studies of the structural and electronic properties of short-period Si1-xⅣx/Si (x = 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, Ⅳ=Ge, Sn) superlattices (SLs) grown along the [001] direction on bulk Si. The present calculations reveal that the Si0.875Ge0.125/Si, Si0.75Ge0.25/Si and Si0.875Sn0.125/Si are the F-point direct bandgap semiconductors. The technological importance lies in the expectation that the direct gap Si1-xⅣx/Si SLs may be used as components in integrated optoelectronic devices, in conjunction with the already well-established and highly advanced silicon technology.  相似文献

By employing the first-principles pseudopotential plane-wave method, the physical properties of zincblende ZnO are investigated in comparison with those of the common wurtzite structure. Zincblende ZnO is predicted to be a direct gap semiconductor. Compared to the wurtzite structure, the zincblende ZnO is characterized by smaller bandgap and pressure coefficient, larger electron effective mass, increasing static dielectric constants and more covalent bonding. Furthermore, the optical properties including dielectric function and energy loss function of zincblende ZnO were obtained and analysed with some features. These aspects reveal promising applications of zincblende ZnO in optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Effective field theory (EFT) methods for a uniform system of fermions with short-range, natural interactions are extended to include pairing correlations, as part of a program to develop a systematic Kohn-Sham density functional theory (DFT) for medium and heavy nuclei. An effective action formalism for local composite operators leads to a free-energy functional that includes pairing by applying an inversion method order by order in the EFT expansion. A consistent renormalization scheme is demonstrated for the uniform system through next-to-leading order, which includes induced-interaction corrections to pairing.  相似文献

We present results on the photoluminescence (PL) properties of porous silicon (PS) as a function of time. Stabilization of PL from PS has been achieved by replacing silicon-hydrogen bonds terminating the surface with more stable silicon-carbon bonds. The composition of the PS surface was monitored by transmission Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy at intervals of 1 month in ageing time up to 1 year. The position of the maximum PL peak wavelength oscillates between a blue-shift and a red-shift in the 615-660 nm range with time.  相似文献

Special solutions of the Hartree-Fock (HF) problem for Coulomb interacting electrons described by a simple model of the Cu-O planes in La2CuO4 are presented. One of the mean field states obtained, is able to predict some of the most interesting properties of this material, such as its insulator character and the antiferromagnetic order. The natural appearance of pseudogaps in some states of this material is also indicated by another of the HF states obtained. These surprising results follow after eliminating spin and crystal symmetry restrictions usually imposed on the single particle HF orbitals, by employing the rotational invariant formulation of the HF scheme originally introduced by Dirac. Therefore, it is exemplified here, how up to know considered strong correlation effects, can be described by improving the HF solution of the considered system. In other words, it has been argued, that defining correlation effects as the ones shown by the system and not predicted by the HF best (lowest energy) solution, allows to explain important, up to know considered as strong correlation properties, as simple mean field ones. The discussion also helps to clarify the role of the antiferromagnetism and pseudogaps in the physical properties of the HTSC materials and indicates a promising way to start conciliating the Mott and Slater pictures in the physics of the transition metal oxides and other strongly correlated electron systems.  相似文献
