Evolution of grain structure in thin film reactions

In this paper, we examine, both experimentally and theoretically, the kinetics of formation and microstructure of product phases in thin film reactions, using the Nb/Al and Ti/Al systems as our prototypes. The results of calorimetry and microscopy studies are interpreted using simple kinetic and morphology models. In particular, the kinetic models employed here focus on the nucleation and growth components of the phase formation process and the morphology models provide a starting point for the classification of product grain structures. The effect of voice lessons on the clinical and perceptual skills of graduate students in speech-language pathology

Two groups of 10 speech-language pathology graduate students were each given 7 weeks of singing lessons to determine whether voice lessons could have an effect on their clinical and perceptual skills. Pre-, mid-, and posttests to measure various skills were designed and implemented. With use of paired sample statistical testing, statistically significant results were obtained. In addition, the subjective responses of the students show that the lessons were effective in improving pitch perception, breath control, and legato production or easy onset. This study supports efforts to integrate curricula in vocal performance and speech-language pathology.

Photodiffraction in InGaAs/InGaAsP multiple quantum wells enclosed in a microcavity

We report new results on the diffraction properties of photoinduced gratings in InGaAs/InGaAsP MQW structures. The original feature of this device is that the QWs are enclosed in an asymmetric Fabry–Perot microcavity in order to increase the diffraction efficiency. We observe oscillations in the diffraction efficiency due to resonant effects in the microcavity. The experimental spectra are compared with theory. Diffraction efficiency at 1.55 μm attains a maximum value of 2.7% at a write beam fluence of 260 μ J cm⁻², and then decreases at higher fluences. We explain this phenomenon by an absorption saturation at high excitation.     

深亚微米条件下的多层VLSI／MCM层分配的遗传算法

本文提出了一个深亚微米条件下的多层ＶＬＳＭＣＭ有约束分层层分配的遗传算法。该算法分为两步：首先进行超层分配，使各线网满足Ｃｒｏｓｓｔａｌｋ约束，且超层数目最少；然后进行各超层的通孔最少化二分层。与目前的层分配算法相比，该遗传算法具有目标全面，全局优化能力强等特点，是一种可应用于深亚微米条件下的ＩＣ ＣＡＤ的有效分层方法。     

短周期超晶格AlP／GaP能带结构的转变及其带间的光跃迁

介绍了间接跃迁的半导体ＡｌＰ与ＧａＰ形成的超晶格，由于零折叠效应，实现了能带由间接带隙向直接带隙的转变，从而增加了带间的光跃迁几率，并推导了该几率的表达式。
