We investigated the effects of exposing rhodium phthalocyanine films deposited on glass substrates by the Lagmuir-Blodgett technique to chlorine gas. The visual aspect of the films is altered upon chlorination, changing in color from blue to transparent. We performed optical absorption and Raman Scattering measurements on our films prior to and after exposing it to chlorine gas. We observed a pronounced quenching of the characteristic triplet centered around the Q-absorption band at 662 nm as a result of chlorine incorporation. Another absorption band, in the near UV part of the spectrum, is not greatly affected by the process. No new optical structures appear as a consequence of chlorination. Equivalent effects were observed in the Raman spectra. Leaving the previously exposed films in air for several hours results in a slow partial recovery of the optical spectra. This recovery, as well as the amount of original quenching, depends on the amount of time during which the film was exposed to chlorine. 相似文献

In the presence of a static potential drop a carrier stream incident at a contact of the sample is partitioned into the other contacts according to the transmission probabilities of the sample. The bare response to oscillating potentials, on the other hand, violates current conservation due to the piling up of unscreened charges in the sample, and has to be modified by taking the induced screening potential into account. We present a novel derivation of the conductance response to oscillating external chemical potentials, find the response to an arbitrary internal potential in terms of functional derivatives with respect to the local potential of the scattering matrix of the conductor, and determine the screening potential for slowly oscillating potentials from the condition of local charge neutrality. We find that the current partitioning depends on ratios of local densities of states which reflect the injection and emission properties of the contacts of the sample. 相似文献

The topological and metric properties of a few natural 2D random cellular structures, namely an armadillo shell structure
and young soap froths, which are formed from two classes of cells, large and small, have been characterized. The topological
properties of a model generated from a Kagome tiling, which mimics such random binary structures, have also been exactly calculated.
The distribution of the number of cell sides is bimodal for the structures investigated. In contrast to the classical Aboav-Weaire
law for homogeneous 2D random cellular structures, nm(n), the mean total number of edges of neighbouring cells of cells with n sides does not vary linearly with n. Only the nm(i, n) (i=1,2) determined separately for every class of cells are linear in n for all investigated structures. A charged analogue of Schwarzschilds interior solution has been derived by considering the non-gravitational energy density to be constant along with a special choice of electric intensity. The charged fluid sphere so obtained is seen to be more general than that of P.S. Florides and joins smoothly with the Reissner-Nordström metric at the pressure-free interface. Also the new charged fluid sphere is capable of representing a superdense star with surface density of 2×1014 g cm–3 which can occupy maximum mass 1.502408 times the solar mass. In the process of deriving the solution, the authors have also come across A. L. Mehras gaseous charged fluid model which is found to be unphysical as it has negative pressure at least at the center of the model.This revised version was published online in April 2005. This paper describes a theoretical study of the way in which a circular aperture placed in front of a plane-piston modifies the ultrasonic field it generates. Specifically, the radiated acoustic power transmitted by the aperture and the radiation force experienced by an absorbing target placed in the transmitted beam, are evaluated at a distance from the exit-side of the aperture. The calculations used a finite element (FE) method, in conjunction with a surface Helmholtz integral formulation to solve the fluid/structure interaction problem. The PAFEC (Program for Automatic Finite Element Computation) vibroacoustics software was used for the FE calculations and the implementation of the surface Helmholtz integral formulation method. Acoustic pressures and particle velocities were computed at required points, whilst accounting for the presence of the aperture in the medium, together with its dynamic properties when subjected to an incident sound field. This enabled the calculation of the radiation force on the absorber and its variation with the applied aperture diameter was investigated. As part of the validation process for the new FE aperture model, the ratio of radiation force to radiated acoustic power obtained using the FE method in the unapertured case, through the use of the Rayleigh integral, yielded good agreement with results obtained through an analytical solution. The study has been carried out to provide a better understanding of the factors affecting the measurement uncertainty for the aperture method of determining the effective radiating area (A(ER)) of physiotherapy ultrasound treatment heads. 相似文献

In the summer of 1916, Finnish physicist Gunnar Nordström (1881–1923) arrived in Leiden to carry out research with Paul Ehrenfest (1880–1933), Hendrik A. Lorentzs successor in the chair of theoretical physics. Nordström had recently published the first five-dimensional unified model of the universe, a theory that went virtually unnoticed by the physics community. Ehrenfests personal journals reveal that Nordströms visit coincided with a flowering of Ehrenfests own interest in dimensionality, which resulted in his well-known paper on the connection between the fundamental laws of physics and the three-dimensionality of space. I examine Nordströms and Ehrenfests collaboration and explore the relationship between their ideas and the Kaluza-Klein model of five-dimensional unification.Paul Halpern is Professor of Physics at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Many electrorheological fluids are suspensions consisting of solid particles and a carrier oil. If such a suspension is exposed to a strong electric field the effective viscosity increases dramatically. In this paper we first derive a model which captures this behaviour. For the resulting system of equations we then prove local in time existence of strong solutions for large data.
