Stratified Kähler structures on adjoint quotients

Given a compact Lie group, endowed with a bi-invariant Riemannian metric, its complexification inherits a Kähler structure having twice the kinetic energy of the metric as its potential, and Kähler reduction with reference to the adjoint action yields a stratified Kähler structure on the resulting adjoint quotient. Exploiting classical invariant theory, in particular bisymmetric functions and variants thereof, we explore the singular Poisson-Kähler geometry of this quotient. Among other things we prove that, for various compact groups, the real coordinate ring of the adjoint quotient is generated, as a Poisson algebra, by the real and imaginary parts of the fundamental characters. We also show that singular Kähler quantization of the geodesic flow on the reduced level yields the irreducible algebraic characters of the complexified group.

New upper solution bounds of the discrete algebraic Riccati matrix equation

In this note, we present upper matrix bounds for the solution of the discrete algebraic Riccati equation (DARE). Using the matrix bound of Theorem 2.2, we then give several eigenvalue upper bounds for the solution of the DARE and make comparisons with existing results. The advantage of our results over existing upper bounds is that the new upper bounds of Theorem 2.2 and Corollary 2.1 are always calculated if the stabilizing solution of the DARE exists, whilst all existing upper matrix bounds might not be calculated because they have been derived under stronger conditions. Finally, we give numerical examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the derived results.

On the theory of quantum groups

By using the results of S. L. Woronowicz, we show that for the twisted version of the classical compact matrix groups, the Hopf algebraA _h of representative elements is isomorphic as a co-algebra to the Hopf algebraA _O of representative functions on the classical group. As a consequence,A _h can be identified withA _O as a co-algebra but with an associative product, called the star-product, which is a deformation of the original commutative product ofA _O . Furthermore, the construction of this star product from the original product is connected to the Fourier transformation in a manner which is similar to the construction of quantum mechanics from classical mechanics on phase space. In fact, we shall describe the analog of the Weyl correspondence.     

A Short Note on the Lindelöf Hypothesis

We obtain a quantitative estimate for the measure of the set of large values of the zeta-function on the critical line which is related to the Lindelöf hypothesis and give its application to extreme values (-results). We also investigate the problem of small values.
