The solubilization of alcohols in micellar solutions

The specific conductivities of dodecyldimethylbenzylammonium bromide (C12BBr) have been determined in aqueous butanol and aqueous benzyl alcohol solutions in the temperature range of 5-40°C. From these data the temperature dependent critical micelle concentration (cmc) was determined. The molar fraction of alcohol in the micelle was estimated using the theory suggested by Motomura et al. for surfactant binary mixtures. The thermal properties such as standard Gibbs free energy, enthalpy and entropy of solubilization of alcohols in the micelles were estimated for the phase separation model. The change in heat capacity upon solubilization of alcohol in the micelle has been estimated form the above properties. On the Use of Thermodynamic Cycles for the Calculation of Standard Potentials for the Oxidation of Solid Metals in Solution

The performance of a thermodynamic cycle for the calculation of the standard reduction potential (SRP) of a series of metals is examined. It is found that the introduction of simple entropic corrections substantially improves the agreement with experimental data. The accuracy of the estimations is in the range of 0.04 V, which opens the possibility to calculate the SRP for metals in non-aqueous solvents or other unusual situations.     

Internal audits in private medical laboratory practice – a Finnish experience in 1996–2000

Internal audits inherently effect quality improvement, and concrete results can be expected by careful planning. As audits should improve the quality system in situ, the development of audits should not be neglected. ISO/IEC 17025 describes the objectives of internal audits and management reviews in more detail compared to the former standards EN 45001 and ISO/IEC Guide 25, although the main features are unchanged. This addresses continuous surveillance of the current practice. A brief questionnaire on vertical audits was distributed to 74 of 120 employees at a Finnish private medical laboratory, Medix Laboratories Ltd. A positive feed-back was received from the current management of audits. However, the study revealed that continuous supervision of audits is needed. Many employees were not willing to perform audits if they had no previous experience. Additionally, audits performed at the workbench were not considered as the best possible for fruitful discussions. Received: 20 February 2001 Accepted: 30 November 2001

研究了在污水样中加入一系列铵标准溶液进行离子选择电极测定氨态氮的新方法,采用奈恩斯特新关系式进行回归运算。使样品和标准完全处于同一条件下测定,从而消除了污水中大量基体对测定影响,提高了方法的准确性。     

过渡元素卤化物标准生成焓的连接性拓扑研究

基于邻接矩阵和成键原子的价环值（Ｖ１）,建立２个新连接性指数（＾０Ｈ,＾１Ｈ）。它们与３３种过渡元素卤化物标准生成焓的直线方程为：－△Θｍ＝－３８．３９＋２２８．０８＾０Ｈ,ｒ＝０．９９０３－△ｆＨΘｍ＝１２７．４５＋３１８．５０＾１Ｈ,ｒ＝０．９８４０与其它指数相比,新指数计算更为准确。结果表明,＾０Ｈ、＾１Ｈ具有良好的结构选择性和性质相关性,可用于预测其它过渡元素卤化物的标准生成焓。     

离子交换色谱法分离纯化鸡卵黄免疫球蛋白

建立了高效、经济、大规模获得鸡卵黄免疫球蛋白(IgY)的生产方法。在对传统的水稀释法改良的基础上,结合聚乙二醇沉淀与离子交换色谱进行IgY的分离纯化。结果显示,用8倍无菌水稀释蛋黄液,用0.1 mol/L HCl调节pH为5.2,在4 ℃下静置8 h,于5000×g力离心可得上清粗IgY液,经测定回收率可达93.47%。然后用6%聚乙二醇沉淀后经DEAE-Toyopearl 650 M离子交换纯化,最佳的纯化条件: 0.05 mol/L磷酸盐缓冲液(PBS, pH 7)平衡上样,0.075 mol/L PBS(pH 7)洗脱。十二烷基硫酸钠-聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳(SDS-PAGE)分析结果显示所得的IgY的纯度为95.02%,活性保持率高达73.77%。本研究弥补了传统分离方法不能同时达到高纯度和高回收率的缺点,且可用于大规模生产。     

Summary of ISO/TC 201 Standard: ISO 22415—Surface chemical analysis—Secondary ion mass spectrometry—Method for determining yield volume in argon cluster sputter depth profiling of organic materials

The International Standard ISO 22415 provides methods to measure sputtering yield volumes of organic test materials using argon cluster ions. The test materials should consist of thin films of known thicknesses between 50 and 1000 nm. The format of the test materials, the measurement of sputtering ion dose, sputtered depth, and reporting requirements for sputtering yield volumes are described.     

Separation and determination of m-phenoxybenzaldehyde reaction products by capillary gas chromatography

A capillary GC method employing an internal standard has been developed and successfully used for quantitative determination both of the raw materials used for the manufacture of m-phenoxybenzaldehyde and for the components of the reaction mixtures obtained at various stages of the development of the process. A complete analysis can be performed in a single temperature programmed run.
