Growth rate and surface microstructure in α(6H)–SiC thin films grown by chemical vapor deposition

Monocrystalline 6H-SiC thin films have been epitaxially grown on off-axis 6H-SiC {0001} substrates in the temperature range of 1623–1873 K via chemical vapor deposition. The growth rate was a strong function of the growth temperature and the reactant gas concentration. The activation energies for growth were 64 kJ/mole and 55 kJ/mole for the (0001) Si face and the (0001) C face, respectively. The concentration of growth pits in the films increased as a function of decreasing deposition temperature, increasing concentration of reactant gases and increasing off-axis orientation. Beta-SiC islands were also observed in the epilayers when the (SiH₄ + C₂H₄)/H₂ ratio was ≥2.5:3000.     

苯对N,N-二甲基甲酰胺化合物~1H NMR的影响研究

本文研究了N,N-二甲基甲酰胺(DMF)在四氯化碳和苯混合溶剂中的~1H NMR。观察到N,N-二甲基甲酰胺(DMF)分子中两个甲基和混合溶剂中苯的共振吸收峰的化学位移随苯的摩尔分数增加而逐渐移向高场,而且两个甲基共振吸收峰向高场移动的程度不同,α甲基较β甲基为甚。DMF分子中两个甲基和混合溶剂中苯的化学位移可以用线性方程表示(δ=A+Bx),这里x是混合溶剂中苯的摩尔分数。相关系数R接近于-1。     

视频编码中的块运动估计算法

在视频压缩的一些国际标准，如Ｈ．２６１，Ｈ．２６３，ＭＰＥＧ０－１，ＭＰＥＧ－２，ＨＤＴＶ中，视频系统编码器的复杂性最主要取决于运动估计。下文以ＭＰＥＧ－２编码器为例，通过计算机模拟实验，得出了一些常用运动估计算法的对比实验结果，以及采用常用的几种匹配函数的对比实验结果。     

Radical copolymerization of 2‐trifluoromethylacrylic monomers. II. Kinetics,monomer reactivities,and penultimate effect in their copolymerization with norbornenes and vinyl ethers

Radical copolymerizations of electron‐deficient 2‐trifluoromethylacrylic (TFMA) monomers, such as 2‐trifluoromethylacrylic acid and t‐butyl 2‐trifluoromethylacrylate (TBTFMA), with electron‐rich norbornene derivatives and vinyl ethers with 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile as the initiator were investigated in detail through the analysis of the kinetics in situ with ¹H NMR and through the determination of the monomer reactivity ratios. The norbornene derivatives used in this study included bicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐2‐ene (norbornene) and 5‐(2‐trifluoromethyl‐1,1,1‐trifluoro‐2‐hydroxylpropyl)‐2‐norbornene. The vinyl ether monomers were ethyl vinyl ether, t‐butyl vinyl ether, and 3,4‐dihydro‐2‐H‐pyran. Vinylene carbonate was found to copolymerize with TBTFMA. Although none of the monomers underwent radical homopolymerization under normal conditions, they copolymerized readily, producing a copolymer containing 60–70 mol % TFMA. The copolymerization of the TFMA monomer with norbornenes and vinyl ethers deviated from the terminal model and could be described by the penultimate model. The copolymers of TFMA reported in this article were evaluated as chemical amplification resist polymers for the emerging field of 157‐nm lithography. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Nonnegative quadratic estimation and quadratic sufficiency in general linear models

Notions of linear sufficiency and quadratic sufficiency are of interest to some authors. In this paper, the problem of nonnegative quadratic estimation for β^′Hβ+hσ² is discussed in a general linear model and its transformed model. The notion of quadratic sufficiency is considered in the sense of generality, and the corresponding necessary and sufficient conditions for the transformation to be quadratically sufficient are investigated. As a direct consequence, the result on (ordinary) quadratic sufficiency is obtained. In addition, we pose a practical problem and extend a special situation to the multivariate case. Moreover, a simulated example is conducted, and applications to a model with compound symmetric covariance matrix are given. Finally, we derive a remark which indicates that our main results could be extended further to the quasi-normal case.     

On the convergence of Newton's method when estimating higher dimensional parameters

In this paper, we consider the estimation of a parameter of interest where the estimator is one of the possibly several solutions of a set of nonlinear empirical equations. Since Newton's method is often used in such a setting to obtain a solution, it is important to know whether the so obtained iteration converges to the locally unique consistent root to the aforementioned parameter of interest. Under some conditions, we show that this is eventually the case when starting the iteration from within a ball about the true parameter whose size does not depend on n. Any preliminary almost surely consistent estimate will eventually lie in such a ball and therefore provides a suitable starting point for large enough n. As examples, we will apply our results in the context of M-estimates, kernel density estimates, as well as minimum distance estimates.     

The σ<Emphasis Type="Italic">g</Emphasis>-Drazin Inverse and the Generalized Mbekhta Decomposition

In this paper we define and study an extension of the g-Drazin for elements of a Banach algebra and for bounded linear operators based on an isolated spectral set rather than on an isolated spectral point. We investigate salient properties of the new inverse and its continuity, and illustrate its usefulness with an application to differential equations. Generalized Mbekhta subspaces are introduced and the corresponding extended Mbekhta decomposition gives a characterization of circularly isolated spectral sets.     

Classification of real moduli spaces over genus 2 curves

We classify, in terms of simple algebraic equations, the fixed point sets of the moduli space of stable bundles over genus 2 curves with anti-holomorphic involutions.Research supported by SRF of University of Missouri.     

Polydifferentials and the deformation functor of curves with automorphisms

We give a relation between the dimension of the tangent space of the deformation functor of curves with automorphisms and the Galois module structure of the space of 2-holomorphic differentials. We prove a homological version of the local-global principle similar to the one of J. Bertin and A. Mézard. Let G be a cyclic subgroup of the group of automorphisms of a curve X, so that the order of G is equal to the characteristic. By using the results of S. Nakajima on the Galois module structure of the space of 2-holomorphic differentials, we compute the dimension of the tangent space of the deformation functor.     

The three space problem in topological groups

We study compact, countably compact, pseudocompact, and functionally bounded sets in extensions of topological groups. A property P is said to be a three space property if, for every topological group G and a closed invariant subgroup N of G, the fact that both groups N and G/N have P implies that G also has P. It is shown that if all compact (countably compact) subsets of the groups N and G/N are metrizable, then G has the same property. However, the result cannot be extended to pseudocompact subsets, a counterexample exists under p=c. Another example shows that extensions of groups do not preserve the classes of realcompact, Dieudonné complete and μ-spaces: one can find a pseudocompact, non-compact Abelian topological group G and an infinite, closed, realcompact subgroup N of G such that G/N is compact and all functionally bounded subsets of N are finite. Several examples given in the article destroy a number of tempting conjectures about extensions of topological groups.
