A model is developed of aerosol spray for synthesis of sensor film from solution. The synthesis technique considered involves atomization of a solution of mixed salts in methanol, spraying of solution droplets, droplet deposition on a heated substrate, evaporation and chemical reaction to produce mixed oxides, and subsequent film growth. The precise control of oxide nanoparticle size distribution and inter-particle spacing in the film is crucial to achieving high sensitivity. These in turn largely depend on the droplet characteristics prior to impingement on the substrate. This paper focuses on the development of a model to describe the atomization and spray processes prior to the film growth. Specifically, a mathematical model is developed utilizing computational fluid dynamics solution of the equations governing the transport of atomized droplets from the nozzle to the substrate in order to predict droplet characteristics in flight. The predictions include spatial distribution of droplet size and concentration, and the effect on these characteristics of swirling inlet flow at the spray nozzle.  相似文献

Design and optimization of a new self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
To improve the dissolution rate of ibuprofen, a model poorly water soluble drug, self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS) were developed. Various surfactants and oils were screened as candidates for SNEDDS on the basis of droplet size of the resulting emulsions. The influence of the constituent structure, concentration and the composition of SNEDDS formulations, and the emulsifier HLB value, on the properties of the resulting emulsions was systematically investigated. Several SNEDDS formulations were employed to study the relationship between the emulsion droplet size and the dissolution rate of ibuprofen. The dissolution rate was accelerated by decreasing the nanoemulsion droplet size, and was significantly faster than that from a conventional tablet. The optimal SNEDDS formulation had a mean nanoemulsion droplet diameters of 58 nm in phosphate buffer, pH 6.8 (simulated intestinal fluid), and released ibuprofen more than 95% within 30 min. Therefore, these novel SNEDDS carriers appear to be useful for controlling the release rate of poorly water soluble drugs.  相似文献

Poly(St-co-BuA)/silica nanocomposite latexes were synthesized via conventional emulsion polymerization in the presence of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate modified colloidal nano-silica. The effects of surface property, particle size and content of colloidal nano-silica as well as the concentrations of monomer and surfactant on the morphology of nanocomposite latex particles were investigated by transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) in detail. Various interesting morphologies such as grape-like, Chinese gooseberry-like, pomegranate-like and normal core-shell structures were observed. Droplet nucleation mechanism competing with micelle nucleation mechanism was proposed to explain the morphological evolution of the nanocomposite particles.  相似文献

An analysis methodology for the metallic contamination control of Ge wafer substrates has been developed and evaluated for six elements (K, Ca, Cr, Fe, Ni and Zn). Detection limits (DL) of Direct-total reflection X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (D-TXRF) analysis on Ge wafers have been determined and found to be at the E10 at/cm2 level. The values have been found to be a factor between 1 and 3 higher than on Si wafers, exclusively caused by differences in the background intensity. Additionally, a preconcentration procedure based on the Droplet sandwich etch (DSE) method has been developed. This method relies on the transfer of the surface and subsurface contaminants from the wafer to the liquid phase by wet chemical etching. Application of the DSE method on reference Ge wafers followed by analysis of the etch liquid by TXRF resulted in recovery rates (RR) of 40%. In an optimization study, it was found that the main DSE method parameters had limited influence on the RR. However, a detection efficiency study clearly demonstrated an underestimation by the TXRF analysis. An independent analysis for Ca, Cr, Fe and Zn by GF-AAS resulted in RR varying at approximately 100%. By internal standardization with the element La for the TXRF analysis, recovery rates could be increased to the 60% level. This underestimation by TXRF may find an origin in a matrix effect caused by the Ge etch products. By application of the developed DSE-TXRF method, DL at the E9 at/cm2 level could be realized, with values, which are at least one order of magnitude lower compared to the DL of D-TXRF on Ge wafers.  相似文献

Summary Plants were found to contain ecdysteroids in concentrations in the order of 0.1% which are higher than those of the insects, and are adequate for the preparative production of ecdysteroids. A TLC screening method is elaborated for the qualitative and semiquantitative analysis of the ecdysteroid content of plants. The combined TLC method differentiates several characteristic ecdysteroids ranging from the apolar 2-deoxyecdysone to the polar 20,26-dihydroxyecdysone. A preparative purification method was developed consisting of solvent extraction, precipitation, crystallization and column liquid chromatography; these procedures permit the isolation of the main ecdysteroids in gram quantities. In some cases, droplet counter-current chromatography was also applied. Altogether, the isolation of thirteen ecdysteroids from five different plant species was accomplished by using a fast, simple and low-cost procedure, resulting in pure substances.  相似文献

A microfluidic lab-on-a-chip (LoC) platform for in vitro measurement of glucose for clinical diagnostic applications is presented in this paper. The LoC uses a discrete droplet format in contrast to conventional continuous flow microfluidic systems. The droplets act as solution-phase reaction chambers and are manipulated using the electrowetting effect. Glucose is measured using a colorimetric enzyme-kinetic method based on Trinder’s reaction. The color change is detected using an absorbance measurement system consisting of a light emitting diode and a photodiode. The linear range of the assay is 9-100 mg/dl using a sample dilution factor of 2 and 15-300 mg/dl using a sample dilution factor of 3. The results obtained on the electrowetting system compare favorably with conventional measurements done on a spectrophotometer, indicating that there is no change in enzyme activity under electrowetting conditions.  相似文献

Droplet microfluidics has emerged as a powerful tool for a diverse range of biomedical and industrial applications such as single-cell analysis, directed evolution, and metabolic engineering. In these applications, droplet sorting has been effective for isolating small droplets encapsulating molecules, cells, or crystals of interest. Recently, there is an increased interest in extending the applicability of droplet sorting to larger droplets to utilize their size advantage. However, sorting throughputs of large droplets have been limited, hampering their wide adoption. Here, we report our demonstration of high-throughput fluorescence-activated droplet sorting of 1 nL droplets using an upgraded version of the sequentially addressable dielectrophoretic array (SADA), which we reported previously. The SADA is an array of electrodes that are individually and sequentially activated/deactivated according to the speed and position of a droplet passing nearby the array. We upgraded the SADA by increasing the number of driving electrodes constituting the SADA and incorporating a slanted microchannel. By using a ten-electrode SADA with the slanted microchannel, we achieved fluorescence-activated droplet sorting of 1 nL droplets at a record high throughput of 1752 droplets/s, twice as high as the previously reported maximum sorting throughput of 1 nL droplets.  相似文献

Electrophoresis (EP) of droplets is an intriguing phenomenon that has applications in biological systems, separation strategies, and reactor engineering. Droplet EP is significantly different from the classic particle EP because of droplet characteristics such as a mobile surface charge and the nonrigidity of the interface. Also, the liquid–liquid system, where there is an interplay between the hydrodynamic and electrokinetic forces in both phases, adds to the complexity of electrophoretic motion. Due to the vast amount of potential applications of droplet EP, a mechanistic understanding of the droplet motion in the presence of an external electric field is crucial. This review provides a background on the mechanism of droplet EP and summarizes the intrinsic interplay between the different relevant forces in these systems. The review also describes the key differences between droplet EP and particle EP, and the impact of these differences on droplet mobility. Additionally, we schematically summarize the effects of key parameters on droplet EP mobility, such as electric double layer polarization, the development of internal flow inside a droplet and boundary effects.  相似文献

自然界中有很多超疏水植物叶片, 水滴撞击在这些表面时极易产生溅射和反弹, 造成农用化学品喷雾施药时药物的大量损失, 利用率低下, 从而重复喷洒施药. 农用化学品过度使用将造成食品安全、 农药残留、 水资源浪费及环境生态污染等问题. 因此, 增加水滴在超疏水植物叶片表面的沉积效率对提高农药利用率尤为重要. 本文从分析水滴在超疏水表面的撞击动力学特征开始, 结合添加助剂后液滴的物理化学性质, 系统阐述了水滴在超疏水植物叶片上的沉积方法和机理, 并提出筛选助剂和研究机理不仅要考虑助剂性质还要结合基底结构、 撞击动力学特征等因素, 而且还要考虑单水滴尺寸大小、 基底运动和弹性及环境因素等对沉积的影响. 本文对农药喷洒及生物医学、 机械工程、 涂料喷涂和油墨打印等领域均有指导意义和应用价值.  相似文献

Monodisperse droplet spray dryers have great advantages in particle formation through spray drying because of their ability to produce uniform sized particles. Experimental analyses of this system have shown that droplets atomized through the piezoceramic nozzle need to be sufficiently well dispersed before entering the drying chamber to achieve sufficiently dried particles. However, the dispersion dynamics cannot be readily observed because of experimental limitations, and key factors influencing the dispersion state currently remain unclear. This study carried out numerical simulations for droplet dispersions in the dispersion chamber, which allow this important process to be visualized. The systematic and quantitative analyses on the dispersion states provide valuable data for improving the design of the dispersion chamber, and optimizing the spray drying operation.  相似文献
