Response probability density functions of strongly non-linear systems by the path integration method
The paper discusses challenges in numerical analysis and numerical/analytical results for strongly non-linear systems—systems with “signum”-type non-linearities. Such non-linearities are implemented for instantaneous variations of the systems’ parameters, to reduce their mean energy response when subjected to random excitations. Numerical results for displacement and velocity response probability density functions (PDFs), energy response PDFs and various order moments are obtained by the path integration technique. Attention is also given to evaluation of mean upcrossing rate, related to the system's half period, via Rice's formula informally applied to discontinuous response PDFs. 相似文献

In this paper, reduction of vibration of a flexible planar mechanism is achieved through synthesis of an optimal controller.
A finite element model, based on the equivalent rigid-link system theory, is used to accurately describe the dynamic behavior
of the system. The model, which accounts for geometric and inertial nonlinearities of the mechanism, has been fully validated
through experimental tests. In order to be able to employ the classical optimal control theory, a suitable linear model has
been derived from the original one by means of a suitable linearization procedure. Vibration reduction can then be obtained
by first defining an adequate performance index, which accounts for vibration amplitude, then by solving Riccati’s equation
in order to find the controller that minimizes the performance index, i.e. the optimal controller. The results of several
tests that have been carried out are also reported, to show the effectiveness of the synthesized control system. 相似文献

The limit cycle oscillation (LCO) behaviors of control surface buzz in transonic flow are studied. Euler equations are employed to obtain the unsteady aerodynamic forces for Type B and Type C buzz analyses, and an all-movable control surface model, a wing/control surface model and a three-dimensional wing with a full-span control surface are adopted in the study. Aerodynamic and structural describing functions are used to deal with aerodynamic and structural nonlinearities, respectively. Then the buzz speed and buzz frequency are obtained by V-g method. The LCO behavior of the transonic control surface buzz system with linear structure exhibits subcritical or supercritical bifurcation at different Mach numbers. For nonlinear structural model with a free-play nonlinearity in the control surface deflection stiffness, the double LCO phenomenon is observed in certain range of flutter speed. The free-play nonlinearity changes the stability of LCOs at small amplitudes and turns the unstable LCO into a stable one. The LCO behavior is dominated by the aerodynamic nonlinearity for the case with large control surface oscillation amplitude but by the structural nonlinearity for the case with small amplitude. Good agreements between LCO behaviors obtained by the present method and available experimental data show that our study may help to explain the experimental observation in wind tunnel tests and to understand the physical mechanism of transonic control surface buzz. 相似文献

This paper describes a new capacitive structure of pressure sensor to increase simultaneously the sensitivity and the linearity of the transducer. This structure contains two capacitors which change in response to pressure, but in opposite senses. The underlying geometric structure of the standard OGY control scheme is analyzed. Some of the main mechanisms that under certain conditions lead to failure of the control algorithm are revealed. The limited controllability available in a system is investigated and it is shown that it may lead to serious problems that will significantly enlarge the state space region of failure of the standard OGY controller. A minimal distance algorithm is analyzed and shown to be, for some problems, more advantageous than the standard OGY technique. Nevertheless, for a broad category of problems, the minimal distance scheme is also shown to fail. As a solution for these problems, two new techniques are proposed: the penalized minimal distance and the multi-step OGY-type scheme. The standard OGY and minimal distance algorithms are particular cases of the new techniques proposed. Finally, we give a necessary condition that estimates the region of controllability under the multi-step OGY-type control. We demonstrate a significantly improved basin of convergence for the new multi-step OGY-type algorithm. 相似文献

The control mechanism of mechanical bone remodeling at cellular level was investigated by means of an extensive parametric study on a theoretical model described in this paper. From a perspective of control mechanism, it was found that there are several control mechanisms working simultaneously in bone remodeling which is a complex process. Typically, an extensive parametric study was carried out for investigating model parameter space related to cell differentiation and apoptosis which can describe the fundamental cell lineage behaviors. After analyzing all the combinations of 728 permutations in six model parameters, we have identified a small number of parameter combinations that can lead to physiologically realistic responses which are similar to theoretically idealized physiological responses. The results presented in the work enhanced our understanding on mechanical bone remodeling and the identified control mechanisms can help researchers to develop combined pharmacological-mechanical therapies to treat bone loss diseases such as osteoporosis. 相似文献
