The storage stability of the occupationally frequently occurring compounds, methylethylketone, methylisobutylketone, benzene, toluene, tetrachloroethylene, n-butylacetate, -pinene, β-pinene, limonene and n-decane, has been investigated on the adsorbents Tenax TA, Chromosorb 106 and Carbotrap using thermally desorbable tube type samplers, commonly utilized in ambient and workroom atmospheric measurements. Fifty and 500 ng of each compound were loaded on the various adsorbents tubes, stored at both ambient (20 °C) and refrigerated (4 °C) temperatures and analysed by means of thermal gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection on days 0, 7, 14 and 28 after exposure. A 90% storage recovery was chosen as acceptance criteria for storage stability, and statistical testing by Student's t-test, analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc tests were employed to investigate the effect of the categorical variables storage time, storage temperature and analyte loading on the different adsorbents. Chromosorb 106 showed the overall best behaviour with recoveries of 90% or better for all analytes during the 28-day test period. Tenax TA and Carbotrap yielded lower recoveries and were more influenced by variations in storage time, storage temperature and analyte loading. Refrigerated temperatures were best avoided for storage on Tenax TA, but may increase the recovery of some compounds on Carbotrap (e.g. n-butylacetate). The blank build-up on the adsorbents was also investigated, and Carbotrap and Tenax TA showed no signs of artefact development over time. Chromosorb 106, however, contained inherently more artefacts that build up over time, which in spite of the excellent storage capability, may limit its use in field studies where long storage times are normal.  相似文献

A combination of sorbent enrichment and ultrasound-assisted solvent extraction has been used to determine polychlorinated biphenyls in air. Analytes were sampled by pumping a known volume of air through a porous polymer (Tenax TA). The enriched adsorbent was transferred into a glass vial, and ultrasound-assisted extraction of the analytes was then performed in n-hexane. Quantification was carried out by using gas chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry. Breakthrough volume of the sampling step was studied, indicating that 10 m3 of air could be processed without losses of the most volatile compounds. Good recoveries (75–96%) were obtained, and limits of detection at the sub ng m–3 were achieved for all the analytes. The proposed method is very simple and fast, avoiding the use of large solvent volumes and time-consuming preconcentration steps.  相似文献

A new continuous method for the determination of formaldehyde in air is described. A cylindrical wet effluent diffusion denuder is used for the collection of formaldehyde from air into a thin film of absorption liquid (distilled-deionized water). Formaldehyde in the denuder concentrate is on-line detected employing a chemiluminescence flow method based on a reaction of formaldehyde and gallic acid with hydrogen peroxide in an alkaline solution. The collection efficiency of formaldehyde is quantitative at the air flow rate of 0.5 L min−1 (absorption liquid flow rate of 336 μL min−1). The limit of detection (S/N = 3) is 0.60 μg m−3 HCHO (0.49 ppb). The calibration graph is linear up to 300 μg m−3 HCHO (244 ppb). The relative standard deviations of chemiluminescence method for 1 × 10−6 and 5 × 10−6 M HCHO are 2.87% and 1.49%, respectively. Acetaldehyde interferes negligible, other compounds do not interfere. The method was employed for formaldehyde measurement in ambient air. The comparison measurement illustrates the good agreement of results obtained by proposed method with those obtained by reference fluorimetric method.  相似文献

The density of neutral oxygen atoms in the MESOX set-up, one device of the PROMES-CNRS solar facilities, was determined by a fiber-optics catalytic probe (FOCP). Plasma was created in a flowing air within a quartz tube with the outer diameter of 5 cm by a 2.45 GHz microwave generator with the output power up to 1000 W. The flow of air was varied between 4 and 20 l/h. The O-atom density was found to increase monotonously with the increasing discharge power, and it decreased with the increasing flow rate. The degree of dissociation of oxygen molecules in the plasma column depended largely on the flow rate. At the air flow of 4 l/h it was about 80% but it decreased to about 20% at the flow of 20 l/h.  相似文献

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is an essential part of research based on genomics or cell analysis. The development of a microfluidic device that would be suitable for high-temperature-based reactions therefore becomes an important contribution towards the integration of micro-total analysis systems (μTAS). However, problems associated with the generation of air bubbles in the microchannels before the introduction of the assay liquid, which we call the “initial start-up” in this study, made the flow irregular and unstable. In this report, we have tried to address these problems by adapting a novel liquid-flow method for high-temperature-based reactions. A PDMS-based microfluidic device was fabricated by soft-lithography techniques and placed on a cartridge heater. The generation of the air bubbles was prevented by introducing the fluorinated oil, an inert and highly viscous liquid, as the cap just before the introduction of the sample solutions into the microchannels. The technique was applied for continuous-flow PCR, which could perform PCR on-chip in a microfluidic system. For the evaluation of practical accuracy, plasmid DNA that serves as a reference molecule for the quantification of genetically modified (GM) maize was used as the template DNA for continuous-flow PCR. After PCR, the products were collected in a vial and analyzed by gel electrophoresis to confirm the accuracy of the results. Additionally, quantitative continuous-flow PCR was performed using TaqMan technology on our PCR device. A laser detection system was also used for the quantitative PCR method. We observed a linear relationship between the threshold cycle (Ct) and the initial DNA concentration. These results showed that it would be possible to quantify the initial copies of the template DNA on our microfluidic device. Accurate quantitative DNA analysis in microfluidic systems is required for the integration of PCR with μTAS, thus we anticipate that our device would have promising potential for applications in a wide range of research.  相似文献

A novel in-needle sample preparation device has been developed for the determination of volatile aldehydes in gaseous samples. The needle device is designed for the gas chromatographic (GC) analysis of aldehydes and ketones commonly found in typical in-house environments. In order to prepare the extraction device, a bundle of polymer-coated filaments was longitudinally packed into a specially designed needle. Derivatization reactions were prompted by 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (NDPH) included in the needle, and so the aldehydes and ketones were derivatized to the corresponding hydrazones and extracted with the extraction needle. A reproducible extraction needle preparation process was established, along with a repeatable derivatization/extraction process that ensures the successful determination of aldehydes. The storage performance of the extraction needle was also evaluated at room temperature for three days. The results demonstrate the successful application of the fiber-packed extraction device to the preparation of a gaseous sample of aldehydes, and the future possibility of applying the extraction device to the analysis of in-house environments.  相似文献

When nitrated polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (NPAH) were recognised as long‐term toxic compounds and were also identified in several anthropogenic emissions and among the by‐products of photochemical smog they became objects of investigation in ambient air in both polluted and clean environments. In Italy the first investigations focussing on atmospheric NPAH were performed in the early eighties and encompassed both the canyon streets and dwelling areas of Rome. Because NPAH were indicated as markers of vehicle emission, new investigations were performed in other cities and also in rural and (nominally) unpolluted locations. In general, the first measurements of NPAH were episodic and could not be assumed to be strictly representative of the sites investigated. In contrast, nowadays consistent data bases on NPAH have been built up and are discussed in the technical literature, so that both neat concentrations and the yearly timed variation of the most important NPAH congeners have been measured in Italian air. Although concentrations of NPAH in air are usually much lower than those of PAH, owing to their very high potency in inducing mutations and tumours NPAH are regarded as having an important health impact on populations living in Italian urban areas. In this regard the genotoxicity of atmospheric aerosols is partly associated with nitrofluoranthenes and nitropyrenes whereas nitronaphthalenes and methylnitronaphthalenes seem to contribute to that of the gaseous organic fraction. Several civic and regional administrations are introducing control of atmospheric NPAH among ways of improving air quality in cities.  相似文献

Resistance analysis for enhanced wastewater membrane filtration   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
This study investigated enhancement techniques for synthetic wastewater filtration in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) at mixed liquor suspended solids concentrations (MLSS) of 12–18 g/L. Air sparging (AS), backflushing (BF) and a combined application of both (AS + BF) were applied to increase permeate flux compared to the conventional application (NON). Scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements of cake thickness served for evaluating cleaning effectiveness and as input data for some of the model calculations. AS + BF showed the lowest overall resistance, and thus the highest permeate yield, for about 2 weeks of observation. The contribution of fouling resistance, cake resistance and membrane resistance to the overall resistance was evaluated, based on experimental data. Air sparging significantly lowered cake thickness and consequently cake resistance. The experimental cake resistance and the model resistances were compared. A model based on the measured cake thickness and literature values for the specific surface area proved most successful. Finally, a relationship between the backflush resistance and the permeate flow resistance was observed.  相似文献

A method for the determination of methylmercury (MeHg) fluxes across the air–water and air–soil interfaces was developed using an in situ chamber. The MeHg in the air coming out of the chamber was captured by a column containing sulfhydryl cotton fiber adsorbent. MeHg was then desorbed from the column by using 2 mol L–1 HCl. The MeHg in the effluent was extracted with benzene, and determined by gas chromatography with electron capture detection. Finally, the MeHg flux was calculated using the chamber. The method was applied to simulated experiments, and the results showed that the MeHg fluxes in the air–water system were higher than those in the air–soil–water system. The method was also successfully applied to the field measurements of an environment polluted by a chemical factory, and the results showed that the MeHg fluxes across the air–soil and air–water interfaces were 0.21–3.09 and 0.14–0.79 ng m–2 h–1, respectively. The method will be a useful tool in the environmental study of MeHg.  相似文献
