In this paper, we propose a trust region method for unconstrained optimization that can be regarded as a combination of conic model, nonmonotone and line search techniques. Unlike in traditional trust region methods, the subproblem of our algorithm is the conic minimization subproblem; moreover, our algorithm performs a nonmonotone line search to find the next iteration point when a trial step is not accepted, instead of resolving the subproblem. The global and superlinear convergence results for the algorithm are established under reasonable assumptions. Numerical results show that the new method is efficient for unconstrained optimization problems. 相似文献

In this paper two new iterative methods are built up and analyzed. A generalization of the efficiency index used in the scalar case to several variables in iterative methods for solving systems of nonlinear equations is revisited. Analytic proofs of the local order of convergence based on developments of multilineal functions and numerical concepts that will be used to illustrate the analytic results are given. An approximation of the computational order of convergence is computed independently of the knowledge of the root and the necessary time to get one correct decimal is studied in our examples. 相似文献

In the current paper, we study the convergence properties of the DGFE approximation of optimal control problem governed by convection-diffusion equations. We derive a posteriori error estimates and a priori error estimates for both the states, ad-joint and the control variable approximation. The optimal control of unsteady Burgers equation without constraints and with control constraints are solved using the high-level modelling and simulation package COMSOL Multiphysics. Using the first-order optimality conditions, projection and semi-smooth Newton methods are applied for solving the optimality system. The optimality system is solved numerically using the classical iterative approach by integrating the state equation forward in time and the adjoint equation backward in time using the gradient method and considering the optimality system in the space-time cylinder as an elliptic equation and solving it adaptively. The equivalence of the optimality system to the elliptic partial differential equation (PDE) is shown by transforming the Burgers equation by the Cole-Hopf transformation to a linear diffusion type equation. Numerical results obtained with adaptive and nonadaptive elliptic solvers of COMSOL Multiphysics are presented both for the unconstrained and the control constrained case. 相似文献

The paper focuses on the numerical study of electromagnetic scattering from two-dimensional (2D) large partly covered cavities, which is described by the Helmholtz equation with a nonlocal boundary condition on the aperture. The classical five-point finite difference method is applied for the discretization of the Helmholtz equation and a linear approximation is used for the nonlocal boundary condition. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the numerical solution when the medium in the cavity is y-direction layered or the number of the mesh points on the aperture is large enough. The fast algorithm proposed in Bao and Sun (2005) [2] for open cavity models is extended to solving the partly covered cavity problem with (vertically) layered media. A preconditioned Krylov subspace method is proposed to solve the partly covered cavity problem with a general medium, in which a layered medium model is used as a preconditioner of the general model. Numerical results for several types of partly covered cavities with different wave numbers are reported and compared with those by ILU-type preconditioning algorithms. Our numerical experiments show that the proposed preconditioning algorithm is more efficient for partly covered cavity problems, particularly with large wave numbers. 相似文献

In this article, a linearized conservative difference scheme for a coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations is studied. The discrete energy method and an useful technique are used to analyze the difference scheme. It is shown that the difference solution unconditionally converges to the exact solution with second order in the maximum norm. Many problems in the areas of scientific computing and engineering applications can lead to the solution of the linear complementarity problem LCP (M,q). It is well known that the matrix multisplitting methods have been found very useful for solving LCP (M,q). In this article, by applying the generalized accelerated overrelaxation (GAOR) and the symmetric successive overrelaxation (SSOR) techniques, we introduce two class of synchronous matrix multisplitting methods to solve LCP (M,q). Convergence results for these two methods are presented when M is an H-matrix (and also an M-matrix). Also the monotone convergence of the new methods is established. Finally, the numerical results show that the introduced methods are effective for solving the large and sparse linear complementary problems. 相似文献

In this work, the numerical approximation of a viscoelastic contact problem is studied. The classical Kelvin-Voigt constitutive law is employed, and contact is assumed with a deformable obstacle and modelled using the normal compliance condition. The variational formulation leads to a nonlinear parabolic variational equation. An existence and uniqueness result is recalled. Then, a fully discrete scheme is introduced, by using the finite element method to approximate the spatial variable and the implicit Euler scheme to discretize time derivatives. A priori error estimates recently proved for this problem are recalled. Then, an a posteriori error analysis is provided, extending some preliminary results obtained in the study of the heat equation and other parabolic equations. Upper and lower error bounds are proved. Finally, some numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and the numerical behaviour of the error estimates. 相似文献
